Troye

I hesitate a bit before reaching out and touching his hand, the sparks flying throughout my body like a livewire. All of my senses come alive again, and I feel happy, something I haven't felt since before Connor died. Connor himself smiles at me at this point, lacing his fingers through mine.

"Are you ready?"

"Ready?" I murmur. "Ready for what?"

"To come to heaven with me." He grins even bigger now, his smile so bright it's practically blinding. "Oh, I have so many fun things to show you. And so many people I want you to meet! I got reunited with my first cat the other day and oh my goodness she follows me around everywhere! You'd love her, she's so precious--"

"I don't know." I interrupt him. "I don't know if I'm ready to leave yet."

"Troye, are you happy? Not now, but in that cold hospital? Look at yourself."

Suddenly, I'm out of my body and I'm repulsed by what I see. My skin on my cheeks has sunken into my bones and is nearly transparent. I have so many tubes coming out of me that I don't know what half of them do. My usually lively and curly hair is matted down to my forehead by sweat.

"Look at that, baby." Connor wraps his arms around my waist from behind, pecking my neck. "Come with me. Everyone's going to be happy that you're happy."

Suddenly, Tyde walks in, sniffling and dressed in all black. He sits by my bed and takes my hand.

"Tokky." He whimpers. "If you want to let go, you can." Tears spill out of his eyes, as well as mine. "I know you're unhappy. I know you miss Connor. I'm going to miss you a lot, but you're really sick and I know you don't want to be here anymore. You haven't been the same since Connor died. If you want to leave, you can. Nobody and nothing is holding you back."

I let out a deep sigh, and my body does too before I begin to flatline. Tyde jumps up, screaming as tears roll down his face. My chest closes up and I begin to panic.

"Code blue!" Jackie screams, her eyes full of tears again. "God damn it!"

"What's happening?" I cry out, Connor taking my hand.

"You're leaving. It's time." He smiles at me, and we exit my room. We walk past doctors and nurses running to my room, but none of them seem to see us. That's when I remember that we're both ghosts now. We stop by the front door of the hospital, and he glances over at me, flashing me his brilliant, thousand watt smile. "You ready?"

"Of course I am." I smile back, and that's when I realize that I am. I can do this. It's time.

We both take a deep breath, kiss, and open the front doors of the hospital and step through into a blinding white light. I let out my deep breath and suddenly, nothing hurts anymore. I can breathe. For the first time, I feel completely free.

"Welcome to Heaven, angel." Connor kisses my cheek. I lace my fingers with him and smile back at all my relatives who are smiling at me.

I've never felt more at home.
