Chapter 44

Sometimes Bakugo would come over late and end up sleeping in the reading nook.

Other times it was before dinner just to 'heal a sprained wrist.'

When the daily visits began he'd noticed Bakugo's aura of confidence wasn't as present as usual. But now he noticed he was feeling a bit better.

He hadn't talked about the reason as to why he'd asked for him to become his therapist.

It was mostly conversions about the games they'd play and lore he'd read about them.

Yuki thought maybe it was just him warming up again, just like he had before his first visit. He was testing the waters to see what he would reply with and react to.

The majority of the time Yuki kept a neutral face. If there was something that seemed to be helping Bakugo feel better he'd double down on that.

Yuki made sure those small moments where focused on boosting his ego. Or at least praise him to a better mental path.

Yuki's costume didn't arrive until the 25th of August.

He had a little over a week left to break into his costume and get his movements as fluid as possible. Otherwise, not only would he struggle with his staff but also the capture weapon at the exam. And the exam was the worst time to make any sort of mistake.

Finally, after successfully capturing Ectoplasm for the nth time, without a fluke, he managed to find an ultimate move. It wasn't a flashy one given he didn't have such a quirk for it, but it was a move he tested on his fellow classmates with emitter quirks and the result was a success.

"Aizawa-sensei!" Yuki ran up to his homeroom teacher. "Would it be okay if I fought one-on-one with a couple of them?"

This caught Aizawa's attention. "What do you mean?"

Yuki looked down at his new costume before continuing, "I want to make sure I get used to the new design. It'll also help me train using the techniques you showed us in morning training with Hitoshi."

Aizawa cocked an eyebrow up. "Who did you have in mind?"

He was curious, yes. But he also needed to make sure the rest of the students got in their fair amount of training.

"I have eight people in mind." Yuki grinned.

"You wanted to see me?"

Aizawa looked up from his clipboard. Uraraka had been training to maintain steady when she was afloat. But with not many being around to help her with the technique she learned during her internships, Yuki put in his 2 cents.

"You'll be training with Satori for while, if that's alright." Aizawa informed her.

"Yuki-kun? Why?"

"It's to my knowledge you've yet to spar with others, is that correct?" Aizawa asked.

Uraraka tensed up. She'd somewhat left that on the back burner and thought it unimportant for the time being. "Y-yes..."

"Then you'll train with him." Aizawa nodded to Yuki's direction where an area was cleared out for him to use.

"Yes, sir!"

Yuki had been completely right about having Uraraka train with him.

Aizawa had been standing on the sidelines watching both hit and dodged each other. Taking turns being the first to make the first move without having had a verbal confirmation. All was said through their hits, sending glances, and prolonged stares when they took breaks in between.

Throughout the entire time both were sparring, Yuki hadn't used the poll as a way to keep his distance. Instead when Uraraka managed to touch him and make him float, he maneuvered his way in the air by using Uraraka herself to keep his ground. He'd wrapped the capture weapon around her hands to release him quite skillfully and had successfully pinned her down plenty of times.

As for Uraraka she managed to react quicker dodging many of Yuki's hits. She was getting better at getting close enough to him to touch at least a small part of his being to get him to float without him noticing.

"Uraraka-san," Yuki huffed as he laid on the concrete next to her.

"Y-yes?" exhausted.

"Have you tried fighting while floating?"

Uraraka turned her head to face him.

"What do you mean?" she wanted to make sure he was saying what he was saying.

"Yeah, fighting while in the air. Float your opponent and yourself. And fight them. Could be an ultimate move too!" Yuki grinned at her.

Aizawa was impressed. Yuki had grown in more ways than one. He'd gotten a better idea of how Yuki saw his classmates when he'd asked for his input on their training. Not only was Yuki seeing how to improve their quirks like he was but the boy took it a step further by implementing their quirks.

That would certainly help create ultimate moves. And perfect them.

So the following days he allowed Yuki to pick one of his classmates. Seeing as it was beneficial for both parties. Giving and Growing.

Yuki trained with YaoMomo the following day.

"Do you have an ultimate move?" Yuki asked as he stretched.

"I think so." she nodded confidently.

"Okay. Come at me with it." he replied, snapping his weapon out.
With Uraraka, their sparring had only taken up half the time they were training.

Momo on the other hand...

"Are you going to use two or one?" Yuki asked as he clashed against one of her two medium sized poles.

"I--" she grunted trying to push him away.

This only causes him to lean in more. "Your stance isn't helping." he commented.

"Wha--"

Yuki stepped back before crashing back into Momo causing her to tumble back. The scrapping of their individual weapons clanking rather loudly.

He watched as she sat on the floor, trying to catch her breath.

"Try with one." he offered her a hand.

YaoMomo was hearing advice after advice with every attempt at striking him. Though he dodged the majority of them he kept repeating she was doing good. Every now and then he'd tell her to freeze in a stance, fixing her footing and grip on her own staff before being told to memorize the pose and how she got to it.

If YaoMomo thought her training under Aizawa was hard, Yuki was a bit more difficult. In Aizawa's case, he'd simply make them focus on one thing to improve before moving on. Yuki on the other hand kept pointing out mistakes after mistakes and if she didn't fix them he would aim for that weak point, landing hits on her until she did.

She was thrown, tackled, and pinned to the floor multiple times. Yaomomo only ever landed a good couple hits on him. Unfortunately for her, he was wearing much more protective gear than she.

And that was one of the reasons Yuki was being much more stern and focused on his sparing with YaoMomo.

She hadn't piece it together yet but eventually her reaction time would improve. He was being tough on her for her own sake. Jabbing his hands where a fatal wound could be inflicted on her if she ever encountered someone in close range.

Shoji and Sero were the next to spar him the following day.

Why Shoji? Because he was a much larger opponent and Shoji needed to know now to defend his blind spots with opponents much quicker than himself.

Yuki always allowed them to make their first move.

With Shoji having charged towards him Yuki dodged his first attempt at landing a punch. Using the capture weapon he managed to bring him down with his right arms locked behind the silver haired boy. At one time Shoji grabbed onto Yuki's vest, confidently thinking he'd finally gotten the upper hand. However, the much thinner boy latched onto his arms and tackled him down, wrapping his legs around Shoji's neck.

Sero was a bit trickier. Yuki had asked Aizawa if they could go to an urban setting, like Ground Beta. Aizawa reluctantly agreed. There, Sero and Yuki swung from house to house, taking turns playing cat and mouse. Only rules being not to stay in hiding more than ten second or enter the buildings. That day, Sero learned to get shoes with better grip.

Yuki laid in his reading nook, flipping through a book he'd waited far too long to read in his opinion. He was enthralled with suspense and excitement.

The Hero Licensing Exam was less than a week away. Five days to be exact.

He heard his phone vibrate on his desk. He was coming over again.

Yuki didn't mind Bakugo talking about his interest at random. It was interesting and nice to see someone ramble almost non-stop about something they found interesting. He'd hardly ever gotten the chance to talk to anyone about any of his interest. So he gladly lent his ear for someone to talk it off.

"Want some snacks? I stocked up this time." Yuki offered after letting the blond in.

He seemed much more tense this time around. Bakugo didn't reply, walking over to the snack cart and helping himself to some spicy candy.

Yuki went back to lay in the nook. Allowing Bakugo to sit in silence without being expected to talk. He'd arrived just a couple minutes before curfew so that was probably a sign he would be staying the night. Flipping the page he listened for any movement to signal the blond was ready to talk.

No talking was done that night.

He'd seemed to be looking for a quiet place to be. To just sit and apparently stare out his window.

And Yuki being the only living resident on the second floor, provided plenty of that silence. At one point Bakugo turned on the tv but set the volume low enough to just allow it to be white noise. But that was about as much noise the room was filled with.

Nightmares was a thing Yuki wanted Bakugo to start talking about.

Yuki would wake up at the violent thrashing the blond would do. Sometimes a couple books falling on him.

Of course he'd pretend to sleep every time, just listening.

It usually resulted in him waking up with silent scream and erratic breathing. Yuki had tried to offer to talk about it once but was ignored.

So now he'd wait. Hoping the Bakugo would have enough trust in him to wake him up. It seemed he wasn't ready to talk that night once more.

Yuki continued to train with a few other of his classmates. Kaminari and Mina being the ones he'd used to test something out. Emitter quirks were quite more trickier than the rest and he definitely needed more exposure to those, as they were the most common type of quirks.

He trained with Iida. Which was mostly Yuki trying to capture him in different settings such as the forest, city, and that one pipe zone where All Might held a class after the internships.

Before they knew it, the day of the Licensing Exam arrived.

* * *

"Wow, it's tall" Yuki casually observed the building before them. "Wonder what's at the top..."

"Ah, I'm getting nervous!" Jiro shared.

"I wonder what we'll have to do... I wonder if I can get my provisional license...." Mineta fidgeted.

He wasn't the only one feeling nervous. Nearly the entire class looked more anxious than they had during breakfast.

"Mineta, It's not about whether or not you can. Go and get it!" Aizawa told him.

"R-right!"

"If you can pass this test and get your provisional licenses, then you novice eggs will become chicks. You'll hatch into semi-pros. Do your best." Aizawa stated.

"All right! I'll become a chick!" Kaminari shouted.

"Let's all call out the usual!" Kirishima announces.

Yuki sighed, setting his hero's case down and covering his ears.

"Ready, set, Plus--"

"ULTRA!"

Who the fuck is that.

"You shouldn't just barge in on other people's huddles, Inasa." Yuki turned towards someone he could only describe as hairy. With two other students wearing the same uniform as this 'Inasa' boy.

"Oh, no! I. Am. Very. Extremely." Yuki watched in horror as the boy not only took a deep bow but practically made a dent on the sidewalk.

"SORRY!"

"What's with this guy trying to get by with just his enthusiasm?!" Kaminari exclaimed.

"He's like Iida at 1000%....probably." Yuki mumbled to himself mostly.

"Wait, that uniform!"

Whispers began to grow louder.

"It's from the famous school in western Japan..."

"U.A. in the east, Shiketsu in the west..."

The west huh? Not planning on going back anytime soon...

"I wanted to try saying it just once! PLUS ULTRA!" the over enthusiastic boy screamed.

"I LOVE U.A. HIgh School! I am extremely honored to be able to compete against U.A. students! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!"

"Blood." Yuki bluntly spoke. Blood was indeed running down the boy's face.

"Let's go." Yuki assumed one of his friends spoke.

"Yoarachi Inasa." Aizawa spoke.

"You know him, Aizawa-sensei?" Hagakure asked.

"He's...strong."

Yuki raised an eyebrow. He'd hardly ever heard Aizawa say such a thing straight away.

"Last year, the same year as you guys, Yoarashi got the top scores for the practical of those admitted through recommendations, but for some reason, he turned down his acceptance." Aizawa explained.

I was excused from that particular part of the exam. So I couldn't have seen it.

"What?! Then, he's in his first year?!" Midoriya asked, shocked.

After the Shiketsu students excused themselves Yuki couldn't help but wonder if he'd see any signs of them.

They had wanted to become heroes after all...

"Even though he says he loves U.A. he threw away his chance to enroll. I don't get it." Sero stated.

"Right? What a weirdo." Mina agreed.

"He's weird, but he's the real thing." Aizawa warned.

Keep an eye out for baldy, got it.

"Keep an eye out for hi--"

"Eraser?" his homeroom teacher looked like he'd just experience war flashbacks.

"It's you, isn't it? Eraser?!"

With every word a woman walked towards them, Aizawa's face scrunched up with distaste.

"I've seen you on tv but it's been a while since I've seen you in person!"

If anything, Yuki was amused.

"She's..."

"Let's get married."

"No."

"What." Yuki spoke.

"No?! Good one!" the woman 'whew-ed' bending over in a forced laughter.

"You're hard to talk to, as usual, Joke."

Ms. Joke?!

"Smile Hero: Ms. Joke!" Midoriya gleamed. "Her quirk's Outbutst!"

Yuki just really wanted to go inside already. Standing around only drew in more of these encounters than necessary.

"If you marry me, then we can make a happy family with never-ending laughter!" she proclaimed to Aizawa.

"A family like that can't be happy."

"You two seem close." Tsuyu pointed out.

"Out agencies used to be close to each other! In out cycle of helping and being helped out mutual love for each other bloomed--"

"No, it didn't."

"Oh, I love your quick retorts! You're so worth teasing, Eraser!"

Yuki slowly nodded coming to an understanding with his homeroom teacher.

She probably helped in testing his patience.

Yuki glanced over to his freckled face friend, gently placing a hand on his shoulder, "I guess you're here for a reason."

"H-huh? Yuki-kun??"

"Joke, since you're here, that means,"

"That's right." Ms. Joke smiled. "Come here, everyone! It's U.A.!"

A group of students in grey collared uniforms walked over.

"Oh, it's the real thing!"

Yuki looked next to him.

Midoriya...here....

Yuki looked back up at the other school.

Midoriya with...black hair....

"Wow, that's amazing! I've seen them all on TV!" a blonde girl next to him added.

Saw us all on tv... holy shit.

Yuki whipped his head to look at Aizawa in absolute betrayal.

Is he not going to say ANYTHING?!

"Ketsubeutsu Academy, 2nd years, Class 2! They're my class. Please be kind." Ms. Joke introduced.

Lady. Ask them to be kind first. U.A. is probably everyone's primary target.

"I'm Shindo! U.A. this year's had trouble after trouble, so it must've been tough!" black haired Midoriya smiled, as he held the actual Midoriya's hands.

Yuki then felt his hands being grabbed, "But even so, you all are still aiming to be heroes like this, huh? That's wonderful!"

Yuki was quick to send him a sneer and slap his hands away.

"Don't touch my hands."

"A heart of fortitude is what I believe all heroes should have from now on!" Shindo cheerfully stated.

Yuki knew how to get around people. Yuki knew how to use people. And Yuki certainly knows how to read people.

Reaching into his school bag, he pulled out some hand sanitizer.

"He's too bright!"

"He's totally a charming pretty-boy-type!"

His classmates seemed to not be able to see what Yuki saw.

"From among you, there's Bakugo,"

Yuki glanced over to the explosion boy, who'd been oddly quiet this entire time.

"Your experienced being the center of the Camino Incident."

Bakugo's face hardened.

"You have an especially strong heart."

Yuki felt like gagging at all the pleasantries being puked out of this 'Shindo'.

"Today, I'll do my best while learning from you!" he extended a hand out to Bakugo who slapped it away.

"Stop pretending. What you're saying doesn't match the look on your face!"

At least he's not blind.

In a flash Shindo's mask fell before recollecting himself.

"Hey! Stop being so rude!" Kirishima scolded. "Sorry for his rudenes--"

"No." Yuki interrupted. Sending glares at this boy who dared touch him. "He's in his every right to be so."

"Yuki?!"

"It's fine! It just proves how strong his heart is." Shindo sent a smile to the red headed.

Bakugo scoffed. Yuki only crossed his arms.

"Hey, Todoroki! Can I have your autograph?" a blonde girl skipped up to him. "You were so cool at the sports festival!"

"Huh?"

"Stop being such a fangirl." a classmate of her's told her.

Yuki looked over to Bakugo who was a little to the sidelines now.

"Are you going to keep that angry face or what?" he teased. Trying to ease the boy up.

"Like you have anything to say, band aid!" Bakugo retorted.

Yuki smiled, He's gotten a bit of his confidence back.

The healer simply shrugged and replied,

"I don't like people touching my hands."
