5 MONTHS LATER...

October 11th

Sophie wakes up and texts Rhett.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RHETT! I love you! <3 -Sophie

Rhett texts back.

Come over to my place. I have something special for you. :) -Sophie

I'll be right over. -Rhett

Sophie smiles and puts on a cream colored sweater, a pair of skinny jeans, and brown combat boots. She curls her hair and puts on red lipstick and grabs Rhett's present.

The doorbell rings.

Sophie's eyes widen and she runs to the door. She opens it and smiles.

"Hey Rhett! Happy birthday!" Says Sophie hugging Rhett.

"Thanks Soph." Says Rhett.

"You're 24 already!" Says Sophie letting go.

"And you're only 22!" Says Rhett.

"Shut up." Sophie punches Rhett's arm.

"Pete!" Calls Rhett.

Nothing.

"Pete! Come here baby!" Calls Sophie.

Pete walks in slowly with his head hung low and whimpering.

"He seems upset." Says Sophie.

"Maybe he misses Link..." Says Rhett.

"Sorry Pete... Link's gone now. Rhett's my new boyfriend..." says Sophie.

Rhett and Sophie walk inside and sit on the couch.

"I'll be right back Rhett." Says Sophie.

"Don't take too long!" Says Rhett.

"Oh I won't." Says Sophie walking into her room.

She pulls out the small box from underneath her pillow and grabs the big box from her closet.

She opens the door and says,"Surprise!"

She sits down on the couch facing Rhett and hands him the little box.

Rhett smiles and opens it.

"A new watch?! Sophie, how much was this?!" Asks Rhett surprised.

"400 dollars." Says Sophie smiling.

"Soph. This is too much." Says Rhett.

"It was the least I could do..." says Sophie.

"I'm so lucky to have you." Says Rhett.

Sophie hands Rhett the big box.

He slowly opens it and a million memories flood his brain.

There are pictures of Sophie and him, Rhett's tie that he gave her after prom in high school, Sophie's favorite hair bow that she always wore, her old prom dress, more photos, and an old dusty letter.

"Sophie... You kept all of this? Even when you dated Link?" Asks Rhett.

"Of course." Says Sophie forcing a smile.

He picks up the dusty letter and reads it.

Rhett,

You have always been there for me when I needed it. When Link left, you were there when no one else was. You went to prom with me and only wanted to make me happy, and that's just what you do. You are my best friend. Always remember that.

Will you take a moment, promise me this...
That you'll stand by me forever,but if God forbid fate should step in... And force us into a goodbye. If you have children some day. When they point to the pictures! Please tell them my name! Tell them how the crowds went wild! Tell them how I hope they shine! Long live the walls we crashed through

Rhett looks back at Sophie and smiles.

"Y-You really felt that way?" Rhett stutters.

Sophie nods her head and looks into Rhett's blue-green eyes.

Sophie quickly grabs Rhett's shirt and kisses him.

Rhett kisses her back.

She stops and smiles.

20 MINUTES LATER...

Rhett's whole face lights up.

"Sophie! I totally forgot! I'm throwing a birthday party at my place!" Says Rhett.

"Sounds like fun!"

"Would you feel uncomfortable if I invited Link?"

Sophie swallows.

"N-No."

"Alright then." Says Rhett. "Let's get dressed."

They walk into Sophie's bedroom and close the door.

Sophie picks out a maroon colored sweater, really tight skinny jeans, black converse, and a black beanie. She puts them on while Rhett puts on a plaid shirt and skinny jeans.

5:00pm

Sophie puts on her lipgloss and meets Rhett back in the living room.

"Ready to go?" Asks Rhett.

"Of course."
