23- g'morning

After a long night of dreamless slumber I woke up to my mom banging on my door.

"LOOK AT THE TIME! YOU'RE GONNA BE LATE!"

I jumped out of my bed like it was the military. I ran to the door and looked out to the clock in the hallway. No wonder that without the alarm on my phone I woke up naturally late. I groaned as quietly as possible trying to contain my frustration. The fact that my parents expected me to wake up by myself and didn't even consider waking me up themselves. I grabbed the closest jeans and shirt and put them on. I grabbed my backpack, half-brushed my teeth and sprinted outside

My dad was waiting in his car impatiently. I noticed my mom in the passenger's seat next to him. I got in the back and looked out the window in silence.

"Behave at school today" My dad said sternly. My mother nodded and added.

"I'll be contacting your teachers to see if you're present in every class."

I just let them have their moment of bossing me around. We finally got to the school and I left the car before my dad had even stopped. I could not be near them a second longer.

I walked through the hallways, looking at the floor and avoiding having to greet anyone. Thankfully, nobody talked to me on the way to the empty classroom. I put my bag on top of the table and rested my head on it as if it was a pillow. I looked through the window on the other side of the class.

It was a cloudy day that showed signs of rain. The cold in the air announced the beginning of winter which I didn't mind because I loved to wear layers of clothing. However, I wouldn't mind living without the constant runny nose. I also loved winter because my parents would fill the house with candies and sweets for my little cousins that spent Christmas with us.

I let my eyes shut while dreaming of eating some innocent gingerbread children. Taking their limbs one by one in front of their family until it finally was all gone inside my gut. I giggled to myself quietly.

In a blink of an eye, the bell rang. I opened my eyes and was surprised to see the classroom full with kids chatting and the teacher shushing them. My hand reached for my pocket to check the time before realising that my phone had been taken away.

I looked to the clock on the wall and realised what it had happened. A full class had started and finished while I had closed my eyes, meaning, I had fallen asleep. I looked around panicked, I had never fallen asleep in class before. As I was scamming the room, my eyes met with Tweek's. He had a worried expression on his face but once I looked at him he turned his head pouting.

Even though my instinct was to roll my eyes at that childish reaction, I couldn't help but feel guilty for the Halloween disaster. Out of all the people in that party, Tweek was genuinely the only one that didn't deserve my anger.

My stubborn mind told me to give up, to never speak to him again and convince myself that he was the one in the wrong. Anything over apologizing.

However... I did feel ashamed for it... But I wanted to tell him that I was sorry. That I wanted his friendship back, that I appreciated him more than he knew and that I was aware of how uncomfortable I made him feel.

That mindset however, was just a mindset. It was still too early to act on it.

I tried to pay attention to the second class but my eyelids were growing heavy as time went by. When it finally ended, I grabbed my things and marched my way to my hideout.

I entered the quiet room and, as usual, peeped to see Kenny. When I looked at him, I almost shat my pants. He was with his eyes wide open looking back at me.

"WHAT THE- YOU SCARED ME!" I took a step back while he got up slowly. "You looked like a ghost, why were you awake?"

"I was waiting for you" He replied with an honest voice.

"Why?"

"I wanted to keep you company" He smiled embarrassed. "You always come early and stay all alone while I sleep. I want to spend more time with you so, no time to sleep"

I chuckled, lowered my head and walked to him. I bumped my head on his chest and stayed like that for a while.

"You're adorable" I said almost in a whisper.

"Look who's talking" he replied. I look up surprised. He ignored me and kept talking. "But back on topic, from now on, I am spending more time with you instead of just sleeping"

"You really don't have to do that. I can see how tired you are right now"

He tried to hide his eye bags by turning his face to the side. I laughed and then a yawn came out. He looked at me.

"Are you tired?"

"I don't know... I'm normally not but today I didn't sleep that well"

"Everything... Okay?"

"Well, let's just say I got my phone privileges and dignity taken from me."

"If you want you can nap a bit"

"Here?" I looked to the dusty yoga mat. Though I had to admit it did look comfortable for some reason.

"Yeah, I'll wake you up when class starts" He nodded and gently pushed me towards the make shift bed.

"Are you sure?" I got on my knees and put my backpack on the floor.

"Yes yes, now, sleepy time"

I curled up in a ball and breathed deeply. I felt a weight on my body and turned around. He was with laying his jacket on top of me while his bare arms shook in the cold. Seeing him wearing a t-shirt in that cold made me shiver.

"You don't need to do that-"

"Yes, I do." He straightened his back like a little soldier. I rolled my eyes and grabbed on to the corners of the jacket. I closed my eyes and and let my breathing slow down.

Suddenly, a sneeze.

I opened my eyes, looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"I'm not cold, it's just the dust"

I raised the jacket up and tapped the space next to me. He opened his eyes and smiled like a happy puppy. He jumped next to me and got under the jacket.

There still a big space between us and the jacket didn't cover his arm entirely.

"You can come closer" I told him, waiting impatiently to see his reaction. His cheeks warmed up and he scooched a bit closer. I clicked my tongue and pushed him towards me.

I hesitated for a moment but then decided to rest my head next to his chest. His heartbeat calmed me down and being so close to him was warm and comfortable. He wrapped his arms around me nervously and hugged me.

I smiled and closed my eyes. Slowly, my mind drifted into a deep sleep.
