Save Me- Part 9

Obviously, he couldn't judge a good idea from a bad one.

The water pounded against both of us, trapping me to him under water, struggling to surface. I thrashed in the waves, clinging to Jake for dear life. But that wasn't going to save either of us if we were together. I broke away from him, kicking to find air. I coughed up lake water and tried to stay above water.

"Jacob!" I yelled above the waves. There was no sign of him anywhere. "Jacob! Where are you?"

My heart pounded as waves toppled over me. You've got to be kidding me.

I threw my body down under the writhing water, swimming deeper before opening my eyes to the blurred darkness.

I could see bubbles rising in the distance, and could barely make out an arm. Viciously, I fought the current to reach him.

He was caught on one of the nails protruding from the dock. I found grabbed his jean's pulling them with all my strength, but he was stuck. He was trying to help me, I could tell, but his strength just seemed to fade as the seconds passed.

I searched for his pants button, unsnapping it quickly and yanking him out. I was holding my breath with all my might, my lungs starving for oxygen as I'm sure his were.

Finally he was free from his jeans with one last yank. I pulled him to the surface, gasping for air.

"Jacob! Are you okay?" I panted. He wasn't breathing. "Oh no please Jake no!" I cried, slipping my arms beneath his underarms so I could kick with whatever strength I had left to the shore.

What do you do in panic mode?

Look listen feel, that's the beginning of CPR right? Screw that. I went straight to compressions and rescue breaths.

And so he coughed.

"Jake!" I cried, throwing my arms around him.

He slowly opened his eyes looking at me. The rain hammered against us. I hovered over him, cupping his face in my hands.

"Mia..." He said quietly, coughing some more.

"It's okay your alright" I whispered. I was crying hysterically at this point, but he couldn't tell.

He lay there for minutes, just breathing. I held his head in my lap, the shock of this whole thing hitting me, hard.

I almost lost him. The reality of that is unbearable

"Well, at least we're not covered in pancake batter anymore..." Jacob said quietly, a small smile on his face.

"Ha-ha you're so funny" I said, looking down at him. "You almost killed us both Jacob." I said, tears forming in my eyes again.

"Yet here I am lying in your arms" He said looking into my eyes.

"I almost lost you..." I could barely make the words come out.

"Mia, I'm here." He repeated.

How could he just act so calm now? Oh I almost drowned, oh well at least we're clean? I just couldn't comprehend that.

He slowly sat up, coughing lightly again. "Let's get inside." He said looking at me.

My hair was dripping in a tangled mess on my head, my clothes soaked. I sat there immobile.

"You saved me Mia. I'm still here okay...That's all that matters." He whispered stroking my face. He held my hand gently, pulling me to my feet. We walked side by side to the house. I slid off my jeans before entering the house, standing in underwear and a now sopping wet camisole.

"Again you have no shame." He sighed, walking into the house and shaking off his wet hair.

"I could care less at this point. I'm not getting the house soaking wet too." I said with a forced laugh. "Come with me." I said, walking up the steps to my room. Once in my bathroom, I spun the knob and watched as water rushed out of the nozzle into the bath tub.

"What's that for?" He asked leaning against the door.

"You." I replied simply putting bubble bath soap into the water as it filled.

"You're like my mom" He smiled, stroking my head

I sat down on the toilet seat in silence, wrapping my arms around my legs. Once it was filled I looked up at him and before I could say anything he dropped his boxers.

"Jacob! Warning, please!" I cried, turning my face away.

"Sorry, I forgot about your virgin eyes" He smirked, climbing into the water. Luckily the bubbles covered everything.

"Thank you Mia..." He said looking at me with sheer gratefulness.

I nodded and got off the toilet. "I'm going to uh, go lay down." I said quietly, slipping out the door.

With that I fell face first onto my bed and buried my head away. That all just happened...

"Come on Mi-Mi!" Jake exclaimed, following his wakeup call with a sudden smack of a pillow on my back. "We've got a party to go to!"

I rolled over and looked at Jacob who was already dressed in jeans and a navy tight black shirt.

"You still want to go?" I said groggily.

"It's a party. I almost died today- Yes I would like to go have fun now." He smirked. "Now go shower quickly it 6:30, chop chop!" He said, plopping back on my bed. The soft scent of his cologne slowly radiated off his body, filling my nose with its heavenly smell.

Focus.

I hopped into the already running shower, taking about the fastest shower of my life. Then combing my hair and brushing my teeth I looked in the mirror.

I was still exhausted, but I didn't want him to go with out me, no. That was the last thing I wanted. I quickly blow dried my hair till it was back to its neat self, in a straight version now. It pooled over my shoulders nicely, something that doesn't happen a lot

I walked out in my bath robe and smiled at Jacob who was watching football on TV. Next to him was an outfit already picked out?

"What's that?" I asked looking at the top and bottom.

"I want you to wear that." He said with a goofy smile.

My shortest jean skirt and a white tube top.

"Are you leaving me on a street corner or something?" I laughed examining the outfit. "And who said you could pick out my underwear!" I gasped holding up the black thong.

"Oh, pish-posh." He grinned.

I grabbed the outfit and marched into my bathroom again before he could tell me to do so.

"How does it look?" I slowly opened the door.

"You are definitely getting action tonight." He said with a wink, sitting up.

I rolled my eyes dramatically, yeah. Sure. Unless you plan on getting with me, that claim is false.

"Let's get this over with."

Every teenager that spends their summers at the lake was here it seemed. Half of them I had never seen before! Who knows how they even knew about the party, but who cares, right?

I saw Christie and Nicole across the room smiling and waving in my direction.

"Go ahead, we will catch up later." Jacob said smiling at me. I nodded and ran over to the girls throwing my arms around them. I've known them since tot's day camp every July, we've been friends ever since.

Except this summer...they've been strangers to me

"Mia! Where have you been all summer." Christie said hugging me tightly.

"Oh well-" I started.

"With Jacob of course." Nicole cut me off with a smirk, swirling her read cup.

"Shut up." I blushed. They both giggled triumphantly in response.

"Anything happening between you two?" They said simultaneously.

I sighed loudly. "Not exactly..." Which wasn't entirely true at all. This summer had been far, far different from the rest.

"Well tonight, we will make HIM the jealous one for once." Nicole smiled, handing me a shot glass off the counter behind her.
