Ambush

At first I didn't know how far the Fae land was but after a while I asked a guard and the answer got me regretting this choice. Three months, they said. But it wasn't that bad.

Since the Fae had magic they basically made food magically appear. They also didn't need to take a physical shower, so they were clean throughout the 1st month out. But the same couldn't be said about me. I had to ask someone to use their magic on me. At first, I had asked a guard how he kept clean, since he was a guard he might be use to staying dirty so I thought they all used the same technique but when I heard about this magic thing I was astonished. So I asked him if he could use some of that magic to make me clean but he seemed a bit flustered, making me confuse. I know the difference between man and woman, but its not like he was going to see anything since he was using magic, right? But when he called a female Fae servant over she also blushed and dragged me back to my tent. There she explained how it worked.

Apparently, I had to take off all my clothes for the magic to work or else only my clothes would be clean.

Finally, I was clean and fresh. I even think the magic worked better than water. My hair felt silky and smooth and my clothes looked expensive. The reason why I said they "looked" expensive was because the female Fae had used her magic and changed me into something else. At first it was a dress, then I told her to change it, which she refused, but I threatened to rip the dress so she changed it into something similar to the  tunic and pants that I had on before, but this one was more elegant and was the Fae style. It was even more comfortable.

So far throughout to departure I hadn't seen the Fae King at all, so I assume he was also using his magic for everything.

After resting for a day we began moving again and again I was still stationed at the side of the King's carriage. I had tried multiple times to switch places with one of the experienced guards but they would just turn me away. So I had no choice but to stay there.

I was informed that we were almost there, which made me excited. But when we had arrived at the front of a forest the guards at the front stopped making us stop and warned us of the danger in the forest. I could tell it was mainly for me since I was the only human one here and they most likely always pass through here. But no need to worry, although I was lazy this whole journey I had my defenses up at all times.

Upon entering the forest it was a bit harder to breathe but the King outstretched his hand and only his hand, and gestured for me to get closer, there were millions of scenarios going through my head but I moved towards him anyway. When I was an inch in front of his hand he placed it on my forehead. I thought he was feeling if I had a fever, which was weird, but the next second there was a semi-hot feeling running through me. I have gone through worse so I disregarded it but was curious of what he did. Just as I was about to question him I felt my breathing becoming normal. I guess he wasn't as bad as I thought. Well, I shouldn't judge him on this one action.

I yawned for the 100th time. I got some looks from the other Fae guards but they didn't do anything. Just as I was about to gossip to Sebastian about the other guards I sensed something. I didn't know if the other guards felt it too but their forms didn't seem to change. Then I felt whoever it was moving closer but still nobody made a move to defend. So I took my chances and knocked on the King's carriage. I knew he was listening when the window cloth moved. I moved closer to the window and whispered something to the King. When I got his approval a wide smile was on my face. I turned Sebastian towards the direction that the ambusher was hiding and intercepted the arrow that was aimed towards the King's carriage. Now everybody was alert. "Protect his majesty!" Someone yelled and there were other people yelling but all I concentrated on was sensing anything else that was trying to aim towards the subject. Since I was supposed to be "protecting" the King that meant I was either going to have my head separated from this body or intact, and I wanted my head on this body, besides my muscles were starting to turn lazy, like their owner, from not doing anything. This was a chance to test my body and Sebastian through all our training.

If someone were to see the smile on my face they would've taken it as I was a lunatic.
