Chapter 2: Not a Secret Anymore

The principal watched as Baldi left the room. He blushed lightly. Does he like me...? Do I like him? He thought to himself. The way he stared at me...it was...cute....?

As he thought more about this, his face began to heat up. The principal liked that teacher. Even to the point where he liked him as more than just a friend. And after all this time, the math teacher could've possibly liked him back...

"I need to get to work." He said under his breath, before leaving the meeting room with his blushed face covered in his hands.

The bald math teacher sat down at his desk, pulling out the day's lessons—which were tests for the most part. He looked over each page briefly, seeing as it was thorough and well done for anyone to understand. Hopefully.

But even that was hard to consider, with being so distracted at what happened in the meeting room. The principal came so close to him. Closer than he ever had before.

Suddenly, the bell rang and students began to pour into his class rapidly until every desk had a student in it. Time must've flown by pretty fast. Baldi thought.

Each student had a different expression from the next. But of course, these students were the first year students at the school, so it would be obvious why.

They all whispered something different; Baldi catching almost all of them: "I hear he beats students with a ruler." "My brother said he teaches the best math." "Why is he bald?" "I hate math." "What if the teacher gets mad at me?" And so on and so forth.

The first day of school is always the most boring and is never worth it. Baldi thought. Though I guess it must go on...

The late bell rang, signifying that it was time to introduce himself.

He sighed, standing up from his desk and walking to the front of it, leaning his weight into it. His hand traced over his ruler just behind him. All eyes went on him, some traveling to the ruler and back.

"Good morning students. And welcome to your first period: math. I am Mr. Baldi." He paused before continuing. "Here, I will teach you everything you have to know for the year from long equations, to geometry, and more.

"Most importantly, however, is that I promise I will make it the most fun it could possibly be." Some students rolled their eyes sarcastically at this statement, already denying it like every student did on the first day. "But first we need to introduce each other. Let's start at the front."

The student closest to his desk stood up  pretty fast in response. They introduced themselves, said a few things, and then went on to sit down. This process went on in an orderly fashion and eventually came to the back row of students. A girl stood up.

Playtime.

Baldi studied her while she talked. She was the principal's daughter. The only difference in their relationship was that the principal had adopted her. He remembered the principal telling him about how the family was in a severe car crash and that the biological parents died in the crash, leaving only her to survive and lose most of her sight in the process.

That last row of students finished.

"Alright! With that settled, we can begin your beginning of year test! Just hand it back to me when you're done!" Baldi exclaimed, grabbing a stack of tests to the right of his desk. Students groaned at this.

When tests were all passed out, the bald math teacher made his way back to his desk, taking out the math book from earlier and continuing his work.

But the equations didn't appeal to him. Now that the room was silent, he was lost in his thoughts about the principal. He had barely gotten any problems done by the time that most of the students were done with the test. So he decided to give it up for now.

A student raised their hand politely. "Yes?" Baldi said, pointing to the student.

"What can we do since we're done with the test? There's a few minutes left." The student said, and everyone else gave a worried look, in fear that it could have been some math assignment.

"Go ahead and talk amongst yourselves. I don't want to have to stress you all out on your first day." At this, the students' faces lit up, and they began to talk.

The bell rang a few minutes later, and the students left. The rest of the class periods flew by just as fast. The next class was first year students again. And the last two were second and third year students.

But with each class, Baldi became more distracted. One student even asked if he was okay, seeing as how spaced out he was.

But even so, the school day ended, leaving Baldi to grade all the students' tests. He'd be getting a Teacher Assistant soon, but for now, he would have to do the work himself. Baldi decided to take a quick bathroom break before staring the large stack of test sheets.

He walked down the halls, heading in the bathroom's direction when suddenly, he bumped into someone.

The principal.

"Oh sorry about that, Baldimore." The principal just called him by his full name. Baldi's legs felt like jelly. He had only done that once before. And that was when he had first started here at the Middle School.

"N-no problem! Not a-at all-l!" Baldi stammered. His face was turning red and the principal seemed to notice too.

"Are you...?" The principal trailed off, putting a hand on the teacher's shoulder and trying to study him closer. Baldi only shook his head, covering his red face in his hands. The principal knew, didn't he?

"I-I have to use th-the restroom." Baldi said suddenly, pushing past the principal and hurrying to his destination. He quickly went into the farthest bathroom stall from the entrance, locking it and then leaning against the door as support.

He stood there a while, realizing how fast that his crush was finding out just because he'd slipped up on keeping that damn secret. Had he not blushed so much and avoided the principal, his secret could have stayed intact longer.

He heard the principal coming towards the door. The entrance door opened, with the sound of the principals footsteps falling close behind.

Shit. Why?

"Baldi." He heard him say. "Listen I.....you're-..." The principal sighed. He was struggling to find the right words. "...if....if you like me, then I.......j-just know that.......I like you back."

Baldi gasped, not caring if the principal heard it or not. He turned to the door, seeing his surprised expression in the reflection. His eyes began to water, realizing now how much he wanted this. He does like me...

Hesitantly, Baldi fumbled with the stall's lock, unlocking the door, and seeing the principal about to leave.

"Kennith wait!" Baldi called, reaching his hand out to the man. The principal turned around suddenly to the sound of his name, seeing the bald teacher's desperate stance.

"I like you too."

The principal could only stare in awe. Baldi actually liked him and for once he felt happy. A warm smile crept up his mouth. He ran over to Baldi, embracing him in a hug.

The bald teacher hugged him back tightly, full of happiness.

Telling the principal was actually worth it after all.

Hi, author here again.
So yeah I did end up naming the principal Kennith like a lot of the other princibaldi fanfics. But since reading a lot of them with that name, I felt it would be okay. Just please tell me if it makes anyone mad or uncomfortable!

Also thank you for 150+ views so far!
