Chapter 11: To get married

After a few more check ups and signing a few more papers, the principal and Baldi were both exiting the hospital. The teacher was in a wheelchair with a small air tank in his arms and the required tubes in his nose; something that would suffice for a week.

Doctors watched as the two passed, whispering about how he was the kidnapped teacher and how he survived. The principal pushed the wheelchair forward towards the entrance, a doctor following close behind to bring his paperwork to the front desk.

Baldi heard ruckus outside. One that he knew wasn't good. "Kennith, there's people outside. They're talking about us." He said nervously. The principal sighed. Of course people would crowd to find out.

They both saw crowds of news reporters, investigators, and local people through the windows of the front doors. Workers used their bodies as barricades to stop the hoards from going in.

"Here. I'll have you take a back way out." One of the nurses said, tapping the principal on the shoulder.

"Thank you." The principal said, and followed them to an exit on the backside of the building. They exited and the nurse stepped out with them.

"Will he be okay to walk?" They asked, pointing at Baldi who looked better.

"I'll be fine." The teacher said before the principal, stepping out of the chair with the air tank and standing with ease. "Thank you for everything."

"Of course." With that, the nurse left with the wheelchair in hand.

"Will you be okay walking to my car?" The principal asked Baldi, making sure he was actually telling the truth.

"I'll be fine, Kennith. I'm just a little unsteady is all." He replied, holding the principal's hand and they ventured toward the front of the building.

News vehicles lined the front, having parked in the way of visitors and patients. There were even people crowding outside and ended up seeing the two sneaking out. They cried, "Over there! That's the one!"

The principal and Baldi both began to run as people tried their best to run to their location, taking pictures and calling to the two men. Thankfully the couple made it to the car in time and drove out of the parking lot quickly.

"Thank god." The principal sighed, going onto the road. "Are you okay?" Baldi huffed and puffed for a minute before answering.

"Y-yeah. I'll be okay." He said shakily, holding at his lungs as if to take in more oxygen that way. He then adjusted the nasal cannula to fit better up his nose. "I want to go home."

"I suppose you don't have your keys to your apartment?" The principal then asked, at which Baldi shook his head, laughing a little.

"No. They were in my bag at the school with all my other stuff." Baldi replied, taking a deep breath of air right after. The principal nodded in return. Maybe it would be better if he just took him to his house in the meantime.

"Maybe it'd be better if I took you to my house for today." Kennith suggested. Baldi nodded at this.

"I guess that'd be better for now."

With that, the principal turned his car to head to his house. The drive was crowded with cars bustling about the busy streets of Baltimore, so it took a while for them to get there. With all this silence, the principal couldn't help but think back to that box with the ring in it. He wasn't sure of he should propose or not.

They came up to their destination after some time. Baldi finally got to see the Principal's house clearly. The last time he had been here was back when they had their first date.

It was a nice two level house with a three car garage. The entrance had an archway made of brown brick, a few stairs leading to a darker brown door. The front of the house faded from view as the principal pulled his car into the garage.

The principal got out of the car first, heading to the passenger side and helping Baldi out. They both walked to the entrance of the garage, coming into the kitchen.

The kitchen. It had a nice countertop with a bar, along with modern appliances. There were smooth tile floors and a high ceiling, giving off space to the area. "Your house is nice." The teacher suddenly said, remembering how he hadn't looked at it before.

"Thanks." The principal said, taking off his shoes. He came up from behind, hugging the bald teacher from his backside. "I missed you so much."

The bald teacher hugged back, leaning backwards to give the principal a kiss on the cheek. He then giggled. The principal enjoyed it too. He hadn't heard him do that in a while.

"Are you hungry?" The principal asked, letting go of Baldi and heading for the kitchen lights. The teacher nodded, suddenly feeling his stomach grumble.

"Yes. Really hungry."

"Ok. Just sit down, and I'll make something." The principal said, pointing to one of the chairs on the bar. He then pulled out a can of chicken noodle. "Does chicken noodle soup sound okay?"

"That sounds wonderful." Baldi said, sitting down on one of the seats. After a few minutes, the principal had meal ready to be served. He sat down next to his boyfriend, two bowls in his hands. He placed one in front of the math teacher, and one for himself.

"I hope you don't mind that I brought you to my house." The principal said, passing over a spoon for the soup. "I understand it didn't go well the last time you were here."

"It's okay." Baldi said, taking in a spoonful of chicken broth. Both continued to eat in silence, not minding the quiet company of each other. After finishing the meal, the principal took the bowls and put them in the sink to wash later.

The principal felt for his phone in his back pocket, his hand coming over something that felt like a box. He realized what it was almost immediately. The box with the ring to propose to the teacher. Had it been there with him this whole time? After pausing on the box for a minute, he grabbed his phone from his back pocket, having not touched it since the day before. There was a few notifications from social media, one happening be about 'the rescue of the math teacher'. He noted to read that later and came to a text message from playtime.

{Hey Dad! I was told you were super busy so I went over to Arts' house. Hope you don't mind. Love you <3} It read. The principal sighed in relief. His daughter was okay.

"Is everything okay?" The bald teacher asked, coming off of the chair and looking down at the principal's phone.

"O-oh yeah. I was just checking with Playtime. She's at Art's and Crafters' house right now." The principal said. He had to go pick her up sometime soon. But he couldn't just leave Baldi behind. "W-would you mind coming with me to pick her up?"

"S-sure. But I should probably get into some better clothes...." The math teacher said, tugging at the hospital clothes he still wore.

"Oh! Of course." The principal went up to grab some clothes, bringing some only seconds later. "Change into these. They should be able to fit."

Suddenly, Baldi blushed and said, "C-could you turn around? I don't wanna...y'know..." The principal suddenly found himself blushing too and turned his back to the teacher. After a few minutes he was clothed.

"Are you ready yet?" The principal asked.

"Yeah, we can go now." Baldi replied. When Kennith looked again, he couldn't help but smile. He had a sweatshirt and some pants on, both of which were the color black. The teacher could barely fit in the clothes so they were baggy. It looked cute. "Wh-what are you looking at? Let's go!"

"Right!"

They got into the car and left to go pick up playtime. For the most part, they stayed silent on the ride there.

They pulled up to a small home, and the principal's daughter wait outside on the porch talking to her sock friend. She noticed the car and smiled in delight. After waving goodbye, she walked over to the trunk of the car, putting her backpack inside. The principal rolled down his window.

"Playtime." He called, and she skipped over to him. "Can you get in the back for me? I've got someone else with me in front." She nodded, seeming curious now.

Baldi looked out the windshield seeing that the sock had spotted him in the car. He looked shocked, mouth gaped in disbelief. There was even a small smile at the tips of his mouth. Playtime opened the door to the car and hopped inside.

"Who's the person—" Playtime then looked and realized who it was, starting to feel happy. "MR. BALDI!?" She exclaimed, jumping from her seat and reaching the front to look at him at almost light speed.

"Th-that's me." Baldi said, smiling and waving discreetly. She squealed and suddenly hugged him, wrapping her small arms around him.

"You're alive! You're okay!" She proclaimed. "My dad can finally marry you!" The principal blushed madly at this.

"P-playtime..." The principal said, bringing out a dad voice amidst his red face. "Be gentle with him, okay?" The girl nodded, realizing that her actions were a bit harsh. She backed into her seat and buckled up.

"I missed you too playtime." Baldi laughed, okay with how she hugged him. It was better than being held hostage and killed. The bald man then thought about what she said. "Kennith?"

"Y-yes?" He said, face still red as he pulled out of the driveway.

"Wh-what did she mean by you finally marrying me?" Baldi hoped it meant what it really meant. He'd hoped for so long that it could happen. The principal became a blushing mess.

"My Dad wants to marry you." Playtime blurted out, smiling and bouncing in her seat.

"P-Playtime!" The principal snapped, swerving the car a little as they drove down the road.

"Is it true? Do you really?" Baldi questioned, feeling hopeful now.

"I..." The principal hesitated. "I mean..."

"I-it's okay. I understand." The teacher felt his mood drop a little at this. The principal noticed however. He figured he'd might as well tell him.

"Y-yes." The principal choked out, his voice barely coming above a whisper. He gripped the steering wheel, hoping that Baldi didn't become upset. He didn't want to have to know he didn't love him back that much.

Then, the principal heard crying.

He looked over and saw Baldi hunched over with his hand over his eyes, smiling. "I've always dreamed of a day when it'd come to this." He whispered out. By now the principal was already in his driveway. "I just thought I'd never get there."

Was he truly happy?

The principal parked the car in the garage. Playtime got out, knowing not to disturb their moment. After all, she'd wanted them so bad to get married.

The principal felt for the box in his pocket once again, pulling it out. He got out of the car and went over to the other side as fast as he could. He then opened the passenger door, putting a free hand onto the teacher's shoulder.

"Baldimore,"  He whispered, loud enough to hear. The teacher looked up, happy tears still coming freely. The principal got down on one knee, presenting the box in his hands and opening it to show the ring. "Will you marry me?"

Oh god he'd wanted this moment since forever. Of course he would. He wanted to be with the principal forever.

"Yes!" Baldi cried, jumping from
The seat and hugging the principal tightly.

"I'm so glad..." the principal whispered quietly, rubbing the teacher's back.

He continued to cry into his shoulder and then giggled. "God, I've been such a crybaby." He said into the principal's shoulder.

"That's fine. At least your safe and...finally here."

After a long time, the two let go. The principal took the ring from its place and slipped it onto the teacher's ring finger. It fit perfectly on.

They both proceeded to the kitchen where playtime sat with notebooks from classes on the kitchen countertop. She seemed excited to see the two and spotted the ring.

"You said yes!?" She asked excitedly, jumping from her seat and jumping around.

Baldi laughed and said, "I did."

"Ooh! Can you kissss?" Playtime was hysterical over this. The teacher hesitated for a minute. Should they kiss in front of her?

"Well I uh—" The principal suddenly pulled Baldi by the collar of his baggy shirt and kissed him. Playtime squealed in delight, having been satisfied. When the principal pulled away, he turned to his daughter.

"How was that, sweetie?" He asked, kneeling down to her height.

She exclaimed, "I LOVE IT!" Playtime then began to jump around excitedly calling, "I can't wait to have two dads!"

The principal laughed quietly and got back up. He faced the math teacher again saying, "I hope you didn't mind that I did that."

"W-well I-you mean-I just-" Baldi was at a loss for words. This was all happening so fast all of a sudden. It made his breath waver. He tried to take in some of the oxygen provided from the tubes up his nose to relieve the shortage of breath.

"Hey w-woah! It's okay!" The principal loudly whispered, being gentle. He didn't want to have to startle the bald-headed man.

After a deep inhale, Baldi smiled and said, "D-don't worry, it's nothing. I'll be okay." The principal hesitated a minute before believing it was all fine.

"Alright." The principal checked the time. It was getting late. "It's getting pretty late out. Maybe we should head to bed?"

At this, Baldi nodded and the whole (to be) family headed upstairs. The principal had the teacher stay in his room for a minute while he got playtime to bed first. This gave the bald man some time to study the room.

It was quite nice. High vaulted ceilings, spacious floors, what looked like a walk in closet, and a decent master bathroom. All clean and polished nicer than he remembered from last time.

The principal came back within a few minutes with a smile on his face. "I guess you'll be staying here for tonight then?" Baldi shrugged.

"I'll have to anyways. But I don't mind at all." He replied.

"Ok then. Let me just get into some pajamas." The principal said. But something was really bugging the teacher. What was it? Then Baldi realized: he smelled horrible.

"Actually..." The teacher interjected.

"Yes?"

"W-would it be okay if I um...used your shower?" The bald teacher asked, feeling a little sheepish. It was an awkward question for sure.

"O-oh! Yes of course!" The principal said, suddenly blushing. He hadn't thought about that. "Here, you head to the bathroom, and I'll get some towels."

Both parted briefly to their destinations. Baldi sit next to the shower on a small stool, contemplating what to do. He still had the air tank with him, so would it be safe to take it off? It was also hard being alone by himself in a foreign shower. Should he get help...?

"I'm back!" The principal suddenly call from the entrance, interrupting the math teacher's questions. "I hope I didn't take too long..."

"No you're okay. But..." Baldi hesitated. He wasn't sure if he should ask for the principal to stay or not. "Could...could you stay with me?"

"Of course I'll stay with you." The principal replied. "I guess I should help you with the shower..."

After showing the teacher how the shower worked, the principal let him do his thing, making sure to give him his privacy. The bald man decided to take out the nasal cannula, pulled the shower curtains closed, and proceeded to become clean again.

The principal pulled out his phone while his fiancé did what he needed to. He noticed the notification for the news about the teacher again. He decided to read it.

The principal sighed. I hope this doesn't become a problem for us... He thought. He the read on to find out that the janitor had been apprehended. At least that was a relief past his worry.

But Baldi didn't know or hear his partner's concern. He only continued to enjoy the warm shower. The water felt nice against his skin. Never had he felt so happy to be in a shower again. He allowed the warm water to wash down his body, not thinking about how wasteful it was or how it would harm the earth the longer the teacher stayed in the shower. He was able to think clearly about what had happened. He was here, he was safe. Most of all, he felt okay.

After staying in there a minute, Baldi proceeded to clean every part of his body and ended the shower. Having forgotten the principal was there, the bald man opened the shower curtains and got out.

"U-uh!" The principal suddenly shouted, startling the teacher into realizing what was going on. He was naked.

"Oh shit-" Suddenly, the principal grabbed a towel and threw it towards Baldi for cover. He caught the towel and wrapped himself up quickly. Both were completely red in the face.

The principal suddenly covered his face hoping to stop the blushing madness. "Oh god...."

"Hey." The teacher said, finally having the towel wrapped around him securely. The principal looked back up, having only cleared the heat from his face a little bit. "I guess we're getting married then?"

The principal laughed quietly. "Of course we are. And I'm glad that we even can."

They stared a minute at each other, knowing that both existed in the same room at the same time with a love that extended far beyond the walls of the room. Then the couple found themselves walking out of the bathroom, into a set of pajamas, and in bed.

"Thank you." Baldi said. The principal seemed surprised.

"For what?" He asked.

"For being there for me. For loving me. For wanting to rescue me." The teacher listed off. He readjusted the nasal cannula to his nose one more time before settling into the bed.

The principal smiled and said, "Of course. I love you."

"I love you too."

Then the two went to bed happy, cuddling near each other. Their sleep was plentiful, undisturbed by anything around them.

....

This was the last moment things would be happy for the two.
