Chapter 12: Bloody

//warning: There's going to be blood in this is that wasn't obvious already//

"Evicted!?" Baldi shouted in disbelief. After staying the night at the principal's, he'd wanted to go back to the his apartment. They were in the main lobby of the apartments to check in with the landlord.

"You're payments are long overdue by almost two months. So we're simply asking that you move all of your stuff out of our apartment and go on your way." The desk person said, seeming to not care of who they worked with.

"Do you realize where I was for those two months?" The teacher was practically boiling with rage.

"Where? The dump not wanting to pay your bills?" They jokingly said. But it was no joke.

"With a fucking psycho! Haven't you seen the news? Oh my god, I've been here for FIVE straight years and never missed a payment." Baldi ranted. "Give me a chance damnit!"

The desk person rolled their eyes. They obviously weren't buying it. "Yeah sure. Listen buddy, I don't give a shit about whether or not you were on the news or not. A payment is a payment. You do it or you get evicted." They said. "So get your damn stuff from that apartment, hand over your key's and leave."

Baldi was becoming beyond furious. After all this time, he'd expect some sympathy from the world but no. This asshole had to turn around and make his day shitty.

"Baldimore," The principal said, coming up from behind and putting a hand on the teacher's shoulder.

"It's okay Kennith. We can leave now."
Baldi sighed, feeling defeated.  It was obvious protesting with the desk person would result in loss either way. He guessed he would have to leave.

"What about your-"

"I said it's okay." The teacher pushed, walking away from the desk and heading outside. The principal glared at the desk person fiercely before leaving outside to catch up with his fiancé.

He was about to walk out the doors when he saw news cars pulling in in front of the Baldi so fast he could barely blink. He ran outside, coming to the bald teacher's side and grabbing at his hand.

"Oh god, are you serious?" Baldi cursed under his breath. Now the news was hunting him down. How ridiculous was this day going to get?

News reporters and journalists began to come from all directions, yelling at the teacher to get his attention. They crowded all around so there was no escape for the couple.

"Mr. Baldi, is it true you were locked away in a jail cell?" "Can we have a description on your captor?" "Have you just been evicted of your home for being missing so long?" They all asked so many questions at once. The bald teacher could barely hear it all.

"That's enough!" The voice pierced through the crowd of questioning people. Everyone fell silent looking at the source of the noise. It was the principal. "Listen. He's been through a lot and this isn't helping at all."

"And who are you to this teacher?" One of the news reporters asked. The principal sighed.

"I was one of the rescuers involved." The principal stated firmly. "Now will you please let us be?"

"We just have a few more questions!" Someone else said, at which the rest of the crowd began to gather around and not listen to the principal's request. Even more so, this wasn't so good for Baldi either.

"Kennith, I don't feel so good..." He muttered, slouching against the principal's arm and then abruptly falling to the concrete floor. The crowd fell silent in unison at the sight of the teacher.

"Are you okay Baldimore?" The principal questioned, frantically coming to his partner's side. The news reporters watched, some still filming on their cameras.

Baldi felt something warm begin to gather up his nose. So to not damage the nasal cannula by accident, he removed it from his nose in time to see drops of blood splat onto the sidewalk below him.

"Oh shit." The teacher whispered, feeling a wave of fatigue come over him as he tried to stand up. The principal then noticed the blood as well. He shared a few quiet curses as he helped his partner up.

"Is he alright?" One of the camera people asked, leaning in closer. But the principal blocked their view before they could catch everything.

"We need to go." Baldi whispered out, covering his now very bloodied nose. The principal agreed and they began to walk away from the crowd, not being bothered anymore fortunately.

They made their way to Baldi's apartment to gather his items and clean his nose.

"Are you okay?" The principal asked, helping open the door to the apartment and urgently helping the teacher into his now former home.

"I need to cłęåñ my ńøse fõr a mińütė is all." Baldi said, however, it sounded glitchy. The principal became concerned.

The teacher made his way unsteadily to the sink, where a set of paper towels sit off to the side. He grabbed at the thin material, letting go of all the blood in his hand into the sink and wrapping his nose in the blanket of soft paper. Baldi began to contemplate how this had happened. He looked back at it.

First, the reporters had swarmed him and then suddenly, something came up at the back of his mind. It was so similar to that dream he'd had back at the hospital.

The bald teacher was sitting down at a desk. The principal stood in front of him, conversing some mysterious and silent conversation. But Baldi couldn't recall it all, as he remembered a headache and then the bloody nose after the weird vision.

"You don't sound okay, Baldimore. There's something going on with you." The principal retorted, coming to the teacher's side once again.

"No, I just..." Baldi could hardly come up with some objection. There was something wrong with him. He'd be lying if he didn't say that.

The principal considered a few options and said, "I think we should really take you back to the hospital—"

"I don't know if that's okay anymore, Kennith. I feel fine." Baldi interrupted, wiping his nose once again and all the blood seeming to stop. "But something happened back there. With the news reporters."

"Like what?" The principal questioned, thinking of what could have caused this. And then something struck him. "You didn't have a weird vision did you?"

Baldi looked surprised at his words. Had the principal read his mind? "Yes! I was in a school, and you were there, and it was just—wait. How did you know?"

The principal laughed darkly. "I think the same thing's been happening to me too."

"What?" The teacher then questioned. Both stared in silence in the middle of the small kitchen for a brief moment.

"I don't know what it is. But it happens." The principal spoke softly. "It's almost like—"

Out of nowhere, a sudden ringing came to Baldi's ears, so deafening that it made his ears hurt. He covered them, feeling a headache coming on. He could no longer hear the principal's words until he realized the principal was covering his ears as well.

As if it never happened, the high pitched noise stopped. The math teacher looked up and found that they weren't in his apartment anymore. Rather, they were in some place that looked vaguely familiar. The principal was nowhere in sight.

The bald man was standing in a long hallway which was dimly lit by a set of windows by an exit next to him. The hall had two doors, separated between a large distance of nothing but grey brick wall.

"Kennith?" Baldi called. He looked around again. He remembered this place...but from where?

"Hello?" A voice called in return. What that the principal?

"Is that you, Kennith?" The teacher tried. He located the direction of the voice and decided to see where it lead, until he realized who it was.

"Hello, Baldimore." It was File.

"G-get away from me!" The teacher suddenly shouted, backing away from the glitchy figure that stood before him.

"Oh how silly of you." File teased, walking up to the bald teacher and cornering him. "You really haven't pieced it together, have you?"

Baldi became confused at File's words. "Pieced what together?"

"In due time, Baldimore. In due time." File said, smiling maliciously. He created a dark shadow over the teacher, taking a gloved hand and grabbing at the smaller man's chin. He then brought a ruler from out of nowhere, grabbed the math teacher's hand, and stabbed his hand with the ruler into the wall behind.

The bald math teacher cried out in pain, not knowing what was going on and suddenly losing breath out of scared confusion.

Another piercing sound came back to Baldi's ears and then when he looked around again, he was back in the principal's house, on the kitchen floor. He first heard someone groan and then felt a heavy weight keeping him down. The teacher craned his neck to take a look, realizing that the principal lay on top of him.

"Get off of me!" The bald man shouted, pushing the principal off before he was pushed down by his weight any longer. The principal rolled over and grunted, hitting the cold tile floor below.

"What...what happened?" The principal questioned, getting up into his hands and knees.

The couple was at home. There were boxes around with labels saying 'kitchen' or 'bedroom'. It was clearly the principal's home, but how they'd gotten there was a mystery. Then Baldi remembered the mysterious encounter with File.

"I don't know. I was at the apartment...then I was in a hallway..." Baldi mumbled, thinking deeply about this.

"A hallway? Were the walls grey? Did you see any doors?" The principal asked, getting up onto his feet and helping his partner.

"Yes. Were you there too?" Baldi asked.

"I think so." Came the principal's confused reply. "It was dark, there were photos everywhere of people we knew."

"What?"

"I don't know..."

"File was there with me." The math teacher then added shakily, thinking back to what had been said.

"File? But...why? Did he say anything?" The principal pushed. He wanted answers as well.

"I don't know. He said something about not piecing it together yet...? I just..." The teacher's breath started to waver. He tried to grab at the nasal cannula only to realize it was gone as well. "I don't know...I'm just scared."

"It's okay. We'll figure this out....and how this happened..." The principal said, coming over to the teacher and hugging him.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
