Chapter Fifteen

~Toshinori's POV~

I hardly got any sleep the night before I was to teach my first class. The Ayumi I constantly conjured up as a figment of my imagination kept me up with her rage. I could hear her voice in the back of my mind berating me for not pummeling the boy that had been mean to Amy on her first day. As much as I had wanted to intervene, if I ran to her rescue every time a kid was mean to her, she'd never grow and they'd probably pick on her more. It would most likely do more harm than good.

Toshinori, I want that punk's head on a silver platter! Ayumi's voice echoed in my mind, he made her cry so you make him dead!

"That's a bit over dramatic." I mumbled to myself with a shake of my head, Ayumi always had a flare for drama. After a mostly restless night, I looked over at my alarm clock, it was time to get up.

After a quick shower and change, I popped out of my bedroom to wake Amy up but paused as I spotted her in the kitchen wearing an apron over her school uniform. She'd been quiet most of the night and I had a feeling she was beating herself up over her first day of school.

"Good morning." Her soft sweet voice instantly brought a smile to my lips and washed away all the worries that had kept me up at night.

"Good morning, Princess." As I stepped into the kitchen I was hit with the powerful aroma of various blends of spices. "What are you doing?" I asked her curiously as I looked to the skillets atop the stove.

"Making you breakfast, it's your first day teaching, you have to start the day off right." Amy said sweetly as she steered me over to the table already set. There was a steaming cup of coffee already prepared how I liked it sitting in front of my seat.

I smiled and took my seat, "You didn't have to do all this."

"I wanted to." She said sincerely. Her bright baby blue eyes looked a little red and puffy, like she'd been crying recently.

Was she still upset about yesterday? "How do you feel about UA so far?" I asked her curiously, I had to approach the subject delicately, but knowing her, she'd pick up on it regardless.

She avoided meeting my gaze and retreated to the stove to finish making breakfast, "It seems like a really good school..."

"And your classmates?" I probed.

"Most of them seem nice." She replied quietly as she prepared two plates of food.

"I could have a talk with that young ma-." I began.

"No!" Her face turned a bright shade of scarlet, "i-it's fine...it was my fault for losing control..." Her voice was barely above a whisper as she returned and set both plates in front of me.

Apparently, it was a vegan week as there were no eggs or dairy. One plate had a delectable breakfast hash with potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and onions with an intricate blend of spices. The second plate had some vegan blueberry pancakes and homemade berry jam with a side of fresh fruit. I noticed she wasn't eating and frowned.

"Aren't you going to eat?" I asked, worried.

"I'm not hungry." Amy replied softly before going to clean up the kitchen. She looked tired. I had a feeling I wasn't the only one who had a restless night.

"Do you know what your mother would have done if she'd been there yesterday?" I asked her with a small smile.

Amy's bright blue eyes danced with laughter, "something violent."

I chuckled, "more than likely."

After breakfast, we headed for UA. I offered to walk her to her class but she refused and went off on her own. The morning went by pretty quickly and before I knew it, it was time to head to classroom 1A for my first class. I'd gotten one of my older costumes from the glory days out for the occasion and hesitated outside of the door as the bell rang signaling class to begin. Time for a dramatic entrance.

"I am here!" I hurled the door open and dramatically stepped through, "coming through the door like a hero!" My cape billowed behind me and all the students stared wide eyed.

Amy looked as if she'd been startled by my dramatic entrance but recovered with a smile. She held up her hand and gave me a thumb's up. It was a small gesture that everyone else had missed but it made my heart swell. The students all gasped and talked amongst themselves as I strutted to the podium.

"He really is a teacher; this year is going to be awesome."

"Is he wearing his Silver Age costume?"

It seemed I had many fans among the young hopeful heroes. I noticed Amy looking around at her classmates' reactions. A small sad smile twisted on her lips and a worrisome thought crossed my mind. She'd only been living with me for two years and didn't know anything about my career as a hero before then, was it possible she felt bad that her classmates knew more about it? One look at the guilt in her bright blue eyes and I knew that was it. Before addressing the students, I glanced around the room. My gaze fell on the young man with the mussed up dusty blonde hair and the crimson eyes. It was the boy who'd made Amy cry the day before.

UNITED STATES OF SMASH! RIGHT TO HIS SMUG LITTLE FACE! Ayumi's voice roared in the back of my mind and I nearly broke character to laugh at this. It wouldn't look good if I attacked a student, regardless if he had bullied my sweet little princess. Though I was a little surprised by how much anger I'd felt when I spotted him, my fists had clenched without my knowing.

I looked away from him as I stopped behind the podium and smiled brightly, "welcome to the most important class at UA High. Think of it as hero-ing 101. Here you will learn the basics of being a pro and what it means to fight in the name of good." I struck a dramatic pose that always made my fans go wild, "let's get into it! Today's lesson will pull no punches." I held up a card with battle written in red lettering.

The blonde in front of Amy's row grinned almost maliciously, "fight training."

I noticed Amy pale considerably and felt a momentary sense of panic. She hated violence. Today's lesson was going to be especially tough for her. I knew she could do it, she just needed to have more confidence in herself. If only she could see how amazing she truly was and her limitless potential.

I continued on, "but one of the keys of being a hero is looking good!" I pointed to the far wall as they opened up and a few shelving units holding numbered briefcases folded out of it. "These were designed for you based on your Quirk registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started."

The students all cheered. I sent them all to change and told them to meet me at training ground beta. I went to wait near the entry tunnel to the grand cityscape that had been constructed for different hero training operations for the school. I didn't have to wait long before the students began trickling out of the tunnel in their new gear looking hyped and ready for their hero training to begin. When young Midoriya stepped out of the tunnel I groaned inward. The fanboy was so obvious. His costume while in a somewhat muted teal color was clearly modeled after me with the mask over the face that looked like a big grin and the two pieces in the front that stuck up like the two golden strands of hair that always stuck up when I was in my muscular form.

"Hey, where's Amelia?" The serious boy wearing what looked like a suit of armor asked one of the girls curiously and I scanned the crowd of students. Amy wasn't anywhere in sight.

"Good thinking Iida, I can't wait to see her costume." A lecherous stumpy little boy with lumpy hair grinned perversely.

That one needs to be taken out too. Ayumi's voice growled in the back of my mind.

"I bet her costume is really cute." Another boy a blonde with a single streak of black that almost looked like a lightning bolt in his hair piped up with a less lecherous smile than his lumpy counterpart.

SMASH THEM ALL!

"Crybabies shouldn't be here." The surly blonde that had bullied her the day before grumbled.

KILL THAT PUNK, TOSHINORI!

Before I knew what had happened, I stepped forward and gripped the surly boy by the shoulder nearly startling him out of his skin. He stared up at me with wide crimson eyes. I'd grabbed him a little harder than I had intended and hurriedly drew back. "Now, now young Bakugo that's no way to talk about a classmate." I tried to cover for my action. I'd acted without thinking. Would I have actually hit him? Ayumi's voice inside my mind was starting to become problematic.

"Awh! How cute!" I heard some of the girls squeal and turned to see Amy stepping out of the tunnel looking shy and embarrassed.

Her long golden hair hung loosely down her back, there was a cute little tiara atop her head. She was wearing a form fitting glittery powder blue leotard with a mesh glittery powder blue skirt and small mesh half cape. Sheer glittering leggings clung to her thin legs and she wore a pair of powder blue boots that matched her cute princess-y outfit perfectly. The majority of the boys were staring at her in a daze.

Toshinori! Protect her! Kill all the punks!

I couldn't help but smile at her as she shyly joined her classmates and without thinking I spoke, "it suits you, Princess."

"Huh?" All the students looked to me warily and I realized that it must have seemed a very odd and very wrong thing for a stranger to say to a teenage girl.

"Ah. That probably sounded weird." I looked to Amy as her cheeks burned with embarrassment. We'd never really discussed if she wanted her classmates to know if we were related or not. It was too late now. I cleared my throat, "not to worry everyone, Amy is my daughter." I beamed.

"WHAT?!" The entire class save for Midoriya and Todoroki yelled in a panic. Young Todoroki looked thoughtful for a moment before recognition flooded his eyes, he'd forgotten meeting her until now.

"All Might's daughter?!" The lecherous duo paled and hurriedly moved away from her.

The surly blonde with the crimson eyes and the explosive quirk looked quite pale in the face. His eyes were wide as he realized his mistake and for a brief moment, I could see a spectral version of Ayumi trying to claw him in the face.

"That's awesome!" A boy with spiky red hair beamed. "You have such a cool dad." He turned to Amy with a smile.

She was still blushing. She managed to smile and nod, "...he's the best..."

My heart leapt with joy at this. She said I was the best! Parenting level, plus ultra! I couldn't wipe the goofy grin off my face.

"Cute!" All the girls squealed and Amy looked momentarily panicked as they hugged her.

"I never thought I'd be into Moe types but, this is working for me-." The short lumpy letch cut off as I looked to him sternly, my smile beginning to falter. He let out a squeak and took a step to hide behind his blonde friend. Ayumi was right, as always, this was going to be tough, keeping all the boys away from Amy.

Once all the excitement died down, I managed to regain control of the class, "now that you're ready, it's time for combat training."

Amy paled. Luckily, I'd thought ahead that she'd be worried about this class. Due to the odd number of students in the class I knew there would be one person singled out for at least one round, so I removed her name from the drawing for the first round to pick teams.

After explaining the exercise to the students, in which they would be operating in two teams of two, one team playing the villains and the other team playing the heroes, we relocated to the building that we'd be using for the exercise. The object was for the villains to keep a missile away from the heroes and the heroes had to either retrieve the missile or capture the villains to win likewise the villains had to keep the missile out of the heroes reach or capture the heroes to win. Young Midoriya looked nervous as he was partnered up with one of the girls who'd hugged Amy and was facing off against young Bakugo and the intense boy in the armored suit.

Each team was given communication devices so they could communicate to each other and I could communicate to all of them. Once finished with explanations I sent the villain team off into the building to set up while the hero team waited outside. The rest of the class followed me to the next building over to a monitoring room so we could see everything that was going on.

Amy scrambled to keep up with me and lightly tugged on my cape to get my attention. I turned to her with a warm smile, she really was too cute, I had no idea how I was going to keep all the boys away from her. "What is it, Princess?"

"Do you think Izuku will be okay?" She asked looking increasingly worried as we headed for the monitoring room.

"Of course, he will. I'm here to keep everyone safe." I reassured her with a smile.

"...Bakugo really seems to dislike him..." She said softly, not convinced of Young Midoriya's safety. She really liked him which made me oddly angry at my young pupil.

"Not to worry, Princess, if things seem like they're getting too out of hand, I'll put a stop to it." I grinned, "you can always count on Dad Might."

Her soft melodic giggle was a relief to hear. It seemed she was feeling better.

Once everyone got settled in the monitoring room and the time, I'd allotted the villains to set up, had elapsed. I got on the loudspeaker over the whole area, "let's begin the indoor combat training! Team A and Team D your time start's now!" I glanced over and saw Amy nervously wringing her hands together as she looked to the seemingly panicked Midoriya on the screen. I turned to address the students around me, "pay attention, kids. Think about what you would do."

Amy grew increasingly paler as the fight began and Midoriya and Bakugo clashed. There were several points throughout the fight where I thought I should step in and call it off but I wanted to believe in Young Midoriya and wanted him to push himself. I knew how much this meant to him and didn't want to come to his rescue.

As Bakugo launched a powerful attack that shook even our building I felt my stomach clench. I should have put a stop to it sooner. I chanced a glance in Amy's direction and saw tears welling in her eyes. She threw a pleading look at me that nearly broke my heart.

"Bakugo, another move like that and I'll stop the fight, your team will lose. It's a poor strategy for a hero or villain to use moves that would destroy the stronghold they are trying to protect." I called over the communicators.

Their fight continued to escalate out of control. The other students were starting to worry now too. I had to put a stop to the fight. I noticed Midoriya preparing to use One for All in a finishing move as Bakugo charged up an immense amount of explosive power.

"They're going to kill each other!" Kirishima a boy with spiky red hair yelled as they were about to swing at one another.

"No! Stop them!" Amy looked to me with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Both of you, stop!" I called into the speaker.

I heard Midoriya's voice in my ear as he called to his partner, "Uraraka, now!" He had a plan? At the last moment Midoriya swung his fist upward to the ceiling sending the force of his attack up while taking the full brunt of Bakugo's explosive attack with his left arm. The heroes managed to scrape by with a last second victory.

"Izuku!" Amy cried as young Midoriya fell toward the ground after time was up. She outstretched her hand toward the screen her silken blonde hair fluttered and I stared in awe as Midoriya halted, mid-fall and was gently set down.

"Amy? How did you-?" I stared down at her in wonder but paused as I saw the heartbroken expression on her face. "Don't worry, Recovery Girl is on standby. He'll be okay." It was amazing she could reach young Midoriya from so far away. Her quirk was so powerful.

With Midoriya sent to Recovery Girl, I couldn't avoid Amy participating in the next round. I had the students redraw their partners. When it was Amy's turn to draw her partner, I grew concerned as she looked down at the name she'd drawn from the box and paled considerably.

Katsuki Bakugo.

Her bright blue eyes flooded with terror and her fingers started to tremble.

Punch him! Toshinori punch that little asshole before he makes her cry again! Ayumi's voice echoed in my mind.

Once the teams were decided, I drew for the villain team for the first match up and felt my heart grow heavy as I drew Amy and Bakugo's team first. Amy paled. I drew for the hero team and grew increasingly worried as Amy looked like she might faint as I'd drawn Young Todoroki and Young Iida's team.

Punch them all!

As I handed each of them their communication devices so they could communicate to myself and their teammate, I bent forward to whisper to Amy. "Honey, are you alright?"

She managed a nod but didn't say anything.

I took the rest of the class to the monitoring room as Amy and Bakugo stepped into the second practice building. Bakugo seemed eager to prove himself, after watching Todoroki during his first round, he seemed a formidable rival. I felt nervous as I watched the monitor. Amy and Bakugo reached the top floor where the prop missile was located. Amy was shaking like a leaf.

"Sh-should we come up with a plan?" Her soft voice sounded in my ear.

Bakugo glared at her, "no."

Amy flinched, "but we're a team."

"Do whatever you want." Bakugo growled.

Amy chewed on her bottom lip and took a moment to steel herself, "last time you went off and did your own thing, how well did that turn out for you?" She asked him quietly causing him to swivel around and shoot her a glare.

TOSHINORI! PROTECT HER! Ayumi screamed in my head. I needed to give her a chance to protect herself.

Amy looked scared but stood her ground, "we should work together."

Time was up.

I called over the loud speaker, "your time starts now!"

Bakugo stormed away from Amy going off on his own again. He ignored her as she tried to call out to him. He was such a hot head. Young Todoroki began his match much like he'd begun his first match, activating his quirk and freezing the entire building in one go. I watched in awe as Amy flinched and the ice that had started to spread to the top floor and swarm toward her broke apart. Shards of ice flew away from her violently leaving her in the middle of the room standing in front of the prop missile with a ring of ice around her. Looking at one of the other frames on the giant monitor I saw Bakugo had gotten caught in the ice. He let out a roar of rage.

Todoroki didn't appear to have an interest in Bakugo and found his way to Amy. I could hear their voices in each of my ears from their communication devices.

"You lied." Todoroki launched a wave of ice at her. What was he talking about?

She didn't move but the ice broke apart into shards and flew away from her. It began to pile up in a thick ring around her as he continued to launch wave after wave of ice at her.

"I d-didn't." Amy squeaked as she struggled to keep her hold on her quirk.

"You said you didn't want to be a hero." Todoroki glared; his attacks relentless.

I could see Amy starting to struggle to keep deflecting the ice. She resorted to using her hands to wave away the ice as she started to tire. "No, I said I hadn't thought about it."

"Then my previous statement still stands, I plan on surpassing you." He growled and launched a massive wave of ice at her.

Amy stumbled back a few steps bumping into the fake missile as she waved her hands to move the ice away with her quirk. It was piling up too high around her, I could see the floor starting to bow from the weight. It wasn't going to hold.

"Amelia's in trouble." Some of the students behind me started to sound worried.

"Amy!" I yelled over the loudspeaker as the floor gave way due to the weight of the ice piled up around her and the heavy missile.

She let out a panicked scream as she fell through the floor. Several of the students around me screamed as they watched her fall. My heart dropped. As she fell, she lost her grip on her quirk. I felt the building begin to tremble as if it were trying to be lifted off the ground. I could see everything on the monitor that wasn't secured down beginning to float into the air.

"Damn it!" I heard Bakugo's enraged voice in my ear and heard a collective gasp from the students. I looked to the monitor and breathed a sigh of relief as I spotted Amy, unharmed, in Bakugo's arms. He'd managed to catch her before any injury could befall her. Though he was currently hovering in the air. "Put me down!" He snapped at her.

Tears rolled down Amy's cheeks. "I'm trying." She cried.

"Try harder!" He raged.

"S-stop yelling at me." Amy sniffled.

Time ran out and everyone and everything was still caught up in Amy's quirk, the building was still shaking. "Time's up! The Villains Win!" I announced.

Amy's eyes fluttered closed and everything dropped as she fell unconscious.
