Wow. So, Priceless is finally finished after one hundred chapters (wtf how did that even happen). Thank you for everything through the eleven months it's taken me to write this book!

I thought it'd be fun to do a little backtracking, trip down memory lane in my closing notes.

Let start with the book inspiration :) I hope you laugh as much as I do when I tell you the inspiration for this book came from a tiktok about good insults to use. I'd been wanting to write a social media AU since May of last year and then came across this tiktok in June that suggested an insult of: "you're like a coin, two faced and worthless."

Anyway, clearly that did not get used as an insult, but I tossed ideas around with that tiktok. Originally, I thought about doing this 'Taehyung is a two faced celebrity' and Jungkook struggling with that kind of relationship.

However, the stems of self-love for this book are extremely personal. Around the time of June, I faced some of my worst mental health in the midst of quarantine and my self-love levels were in the ground. I thought about reflecting on my self love journey (which is not over) in the form of writing another story.

And with that did Priceless come to life!! I always try and make my stories have plenty of layers, leading me to place the struggles of self love (and the struggles of trauma) in a man who was loved by the world— a contrast that brought me to Taehyung's character as a huge international model.

There's flaws in every person, and I think that even though Jungkook may seem perfect throughout the book, his overbearing and selfless nature was interesting to write. His curiosity for everything in Taehyung's world was also a great topic for me to write on. Not to mention his physical reserved-ness.

Along with self love, there was a lot of emphasis on the reality of the celebrity world. Obviously, I don't have first hand experience, but I can't lie when I saw I've heard people say they want to be a celebrity/famous like it's the best life to live. It's not easy. It's a lot of sacrifice and people blinded by the income and attention that comes with it, often crack under the pressure first.

Even BTS's lives are glamorized, ARMYs realizing how difficult it is only when we get clips of them backstage, hurting and passing out, injured and still pushing themselves. It's hard. Incredibly so and I definitely wanted to write about how that's a life not as easy and fun as people make it out to be.

It made me more than happy to see comments about this book being their comfort one as it was the same for myself. I've left some quotes in this book that I didn't think my braincells were capable of honestly :')

Gotta say a few of my favorite ones are:

Fun fact, Sweet Night wasn't originally planned. The song happened to work out so so well, and being one of Taehyung's solo songs in real life made it all the more perfect.

Heavily analyzing the song was also super fun, and as a musician myself, it was nice to dip my toes into writing some musician related topics.

Much of Priceless wasn't planned to be honest. I yolo-ed most of it— which is why there's some plot holes from on-and-off writing. But while I strongly dislike parts of this book, I love it overall with my personal connection to it and instead see it as a place to grow for future works, though!
