Quick A/N: Akua at the top:)

----

It was 90 degrees outside and 15-year old Afia stood there with her mother picking lemons to make fresh lemonade for her father's new colleagues. A loud banging came from inside the house and her mother's head snapped towards the clear backdoor and dread filled her face, she ran to the backdoor and yanked it open and went after the noise that still echoed inside Afia's head. Afia followed shortly after and the usually silent house was filled with angry screams and tension. She walked further and there she saw her sister who usually didn't cry, sobbing and holding her eye. Her mother was screaming at her from the top of her lungs.

"How can you leave?" She yelled in Twi. Still lost about what was going on her sister, Akua beckoned her to come to her, knowing that Afia hated the sound of screaming.  Afia quickly followed her directions  and after awhile of the screaming match between Akua and their parents  Afia finally learned what was happening. It was about Akua and Angelo that was what they usually argued about but Afia did not realize how wrong she was when Akua said the words.

"I am leaving  and that is my final decision." Akua said.

Afia looked up at her with a horrified expression; how could she leave, how could she leave her with them? "You're leaving, where?" Afia said suddenly being yanked from her sisters comforting grasp and being pulled into her father's firm and unemotional hold.

"If you leave Akua you are no longer part of this family." Her father said coldly.

"Father you and I both know that this isn't a family, we just do as you say." Akua spat.

"Why are you still here  then?"

"To protect the only thing pure in this house and that is Afia." She said flicking her eyes to Afia's desperate ones.

Her father didn't respond because he knew Akua was right and it was only a matter of time before Afia's purity will be snatched from beneath her feet.

"I will be leaving my things are already packed." With that she turned around and grabbed her bags that were at the end of the stairs. And with every strength she had Afia ripped from her father's firm hold and ran to her sister and hugged her retreating back.

"Please don't go." Afia said hugging her as tightly as she can.

"Afia, you and I both know this time was coming." Akua said turning around in her grasp and hugging her with just as much strength as the 15 year old did.

"Take me with you." Afia whispered.

"I can't do that but you do have to be strong *me nua-basia*." She said voice thick with emotion.

"How can I be strong without you here?"

"Because you're royalty, it's in your last name, so that makes you the queen and even when hell is going on in a queen's palace she still has managed to rule her people no matter how hot hell can get."

And with that Akua released the trembling Afia and left not looking back once.
