Darry

"Do we really have to get the roof fixed today? I have to go outside but I can't when they are up there!" I argue with my brother.

I always hate having people over to do repaires on the house. I feel like I have to stay inside the house so they don't ask stupid time filling questions. How is school going? Do you play any sports? What are your plans for this weekend? They are just straight up annoying.

"I don't understand why you hate getting our house fixed so much! They don't even ask that many questions." My brother, Nathan argues back.

"But I just want to go outside!"

Nathan simply shakes his head at me. He is only older by 1 year but he is always telling me that I am unrealistic an doesn't really listen to what I have to say. Before we can argue anymore we hear a knock at the door.

"Go get it!" Nathan shouts at me.

"Why do I have to? You are the one who wants them here!" I argue.

"Yeah, but I am also the one who is washing the dishes!" I sigh and go and get the door.

When I open it I see a very muscular man with brown hair. He is very tall and very attractive. I lose my train of thought for a minute and don't hear him asking if we are ready for him to start the roofing.

"Excuse me, are you alright?" He asks.

"Huh? Oh, what? Yeah, you can get started." I internally cringe.

"Okay, it will probably take a couple hours." He explains.

"Sounds good." He walks away and I close the door and turn around. "What are you doing?!"

Nathan is standing there with a smirk on his face.

"Just watching you make a complete fool of yourself in front of some guy." He answers honestly.

"I hate you." I say jokingly before going and sitting down in front of the TV.

A few hours go by an I still haven't moved. I have been watching the same episode of Mickey Mouse for 3 hours but, I mean what am I supposed to do? Go outside and risk being questioned like a criminal in an interrogation room? No thank you!

Nathan walks back inside after just finishing his run. He is covered in sweat and is breathing very heavily.

"Are you really still sitting here?" He asks.

"Yeah. What does it matter to you?" I ask.

"Nothing it's just that your favourite worker is on his break right now and looks a little lonely." He makes fun of me.

"Shut up. He is just attractive that's all." I roll my eyes.

"Whatever Y/N. I know you have a crush."

"Leave me alone! I have only ever seen him once." With that I run upstairs into my room. I stand there panting for a minute from running up the stairs then lay on my bed.

Not even a couple minutes later Nathan knocks on my door. I let out a groan and he takes that as a invite to come in.

"Can you go get some groceries we are getting low?" He asks.

"Why can't you?" I ask back.

"Because I am cooking us dinner, because you can't cook for the life of you." He reasons.

It's true. The last time I tried to cook dinner I burnt the chicken and used WAY too much salt on the potato's. I sigh and then throw on my jacket. I walk downstairs and throw on my favourite pair of converse. I defiantly don't look my best because I am wearing my oldest jeans and a tee-shirt so I make sure to zip up my jacket all the way.

I walk out the door and remember the hot worker and sprint over to me and my brother's car. I turn it on and drive to the grocery store. When I get back I notice that the workers are putting all their stuff away. I go to the trunk and pick up all the bags and quickly start to walk inside. Before I can reach the door someone stops me. I take a deep breath and turn around to be met with a pair of pale blue-green eyes.

"Hey, I think I have seen you somewhere before. Don't you work at the Nightly Double on the weekends?" The strong man asks. Crap! Just what I wanted, questions.

"Uh, yeah. Do you go there often?" I politely respond.

"No but my younger brother Pony does." He explains

"Oh cool. Well, I better go, my brother wants me to bring in the groceries." I know that Nathan doesn't need them right now but knowing my awkward self I am going embarrass myself any minute now.

"I am going to need to come back tomorrow to just finish up. So I will see you then." He picks up his tool kit and walks over to his truck.

The next day

Knock, Knock, Knock! I already know who it is and I really don't want to open the door. But sadly Nathan is off working today so I am left all alone. I walk over to the door and take a deep breath. When I open it I am met with the same broad-shouldered man I was talking to yesterday.

He explains that it might be a little louder today and I explain awkwardly how I am not doing anything anyway. He walks away and then I once again spend the day doing absolutely nothing.

By the end of the day the man knocks on my door and I open it. This is seeming to become a bit of a routine.

"Hello. We are all done. It was nice working for you." He says.

"Thanks for helping us out" I answer. Then there is like two minutes of us just staring at each other. Me waiting for him to leave and him just standing there. Finally he speaks up.

"Look, you seem really nice and you are really pretty so I was wondering if you would like to go on a date Sunday night?" He asks really fast.

"Who? Me?" I respond shocked. I cringe and then try to cover it up. "I mean yeah. I am the only one here, it's just that I have never had a guy working on my roof ask me out before. And you are really hot. I mean it is hot outside and I'm sorry I am just going to shut up now."

"My name is Darry by the way."

"I'm Y/N."

"I will see you then." He responds before heading off.

I wait until he is off my driveway before closing the door. I can't believe what just happened.
