#9: A Premature Send-off

Double Black, reunited again, in battle. Dazai gets horribly, horribly injured. He knows he's dying. Chuuya does as well, but doesn't want to accept it. He runs to Dazai, kneels down in front of him, and holds him in his arms.

"Damn it, Dazai," he yells, "don't leave me now! I thought you were going to wait until you met a beautiful woman to do a double suicide with!"

"Oh, Chuuya," Dazai mutters, in almost a whisper, "I gave up on that dream."

"Why?!" Chuuya exclaims. He never wanted Dazai to go through with that wish of his, but now he was, because it meant he wasn't dying on him yet.

Dazai gently rests his hand on Chuuya's cheek. It takes all the strength he has left to do so, and say his last words.

"Because, Chuuya, I'm already dying in the arms of the most beautiful person I've ever known."

The only sound that follows Dazai's whispers is a shriek of misery.
