Reader X Niji: Cunning Pt1

You sat blankly on your bed, you were well aware any typical princess would be frightened, anxious, maybe even enraged with your current situation.

But you felt a load of nothing- perhaps a hint of eagerness, but that was irrelevant to what was important right now.

You had to keep your eyes on the mission.

Your father the king, decided to marry you off to the prince of another kingdom due to the sudden deaths of your two older siblings, it was now imperative for you to wed, give birth to a healthy male, and give your country a union that would help the economy flourish.

Soon your many unknown suitors would arrive, your father only sent invitations to kingdoms that were proven to be potential allies or already close to the country, either way, you weren't coming out of this without a husband.

Soon the maids came in and had you properly dressed to impress and polished to perfection, "your father wishes for you to await the guests in the great hall milady" you gave the maid a short nod before moving through the door.

Making it to the great hall, you watched as the chefs bustled around, setting up their various dishes scattered about the table, appetizing scents teased your nose, causing your mouth to water.

Soon the chefs finished the feast's presentation, and you were left to await your first suitor.

Soon they began to arrive, the first man you introduced yourself to was the first born son of the Dequire kingdom, a marriage with him would provide your kingdom with various minerals and metals unique to the Grandline, next was the first born son of the Sulzee kingdom, a marriage with him would provide your kingdom with grains, salts and various oils.

With each prince you were introduced to, you carefully studied, categorized, and saved them into a part of your memory for later, for awhile you thought your best option was the Stribus prince, whose kingdom was known for their gold mines and miraculous medical powders, until something out of the ordinary happened.

Your father soon came to your side, a sign that all the guests were finally gathered together, but when he moved to guide you to the table, the gates behind you two slowly opened, revealing a small group of people accompanied by your guards.

"What is the meaning of this?" Your father was quick to pull you over with him to the strangers, keeping his voice low in order to not frighten or disturb any of the guests, one guard stiffened up and squared his shoulders.

"Your majesty, this royal family here has arrived without invitation" you tilted your head in curiosity and caution as your father hunched his back in confusion, "without invitation? How preposterous! Who are you so named, royals?" You looked to the three boys standing in front as your father huffed to the older man behind them.

The tallest was a very muscular man with bright green hair, his eyebrows were strange- which you soon realized was inherited by all three of them, you guessed he was the youngest guessing from his lack of disciplined posture, the one next to him had fiery red hair and shades that covered his eyes, his aura was intimidating to say the least, but aside from that he seemed to be just stoic, then the last one had his bright blue hair in an intriguing style that actually wanted to make you smile, just like the stoic one he had shades hiding his eyes.

Suddenly you found yourself listening to the conversation between the oldest man and your dad, "I apologize for such an unorthodox arrival, I am the king of Germa and I want my second son to have a chance in winning over the princess" you blinked in mild shock.

The Germa kingdom, known for their super technology and powerful military might, long ago the kingdom was known to have completely conquered the North Blue, until they were defeated and expelled into the grandline.

What would they want with your kingdom?

Your father stumbled back in shock, in order to keep him from falling over you extended your hand and kept him from collapsing, letting him bounce back and pay you no mind.

"The G-Germa kingdom? You have my most humble apologies your highness, I didn't think such a.. superior kingdom would be interested in our humble princess" you glanced to the three sons once again and felt heat on your cheeks seeing the blue haired son was smiling at you.

Boldly interrupting whatever conversation your fathers were holding, he marched right to you and grinned, "you must obviously be the lovely princess of (Y/K)" he bent down and lifted your hand to his lips, "such luck, I've found such an exquisite bride" you blinked as he pecked your hand with small hearts swirling around his head.

"You make it sound like you've already won" he grinned, "I have" his confidence was, to say the least, intriguing as well.

Once all the guests were seated, your father lightly tapped his drink to gain all of their attention, "ahem, I welcome our esteemed guests, I understand you all must be simply exhausted, but before the servants lead you and your families to your rooms, I will lay down the rules" many of your suitors went still in concentration.

"My only daughter, the princess" you stood up and nodded to the royals, "will decide which one of you princes will marry her, at the end of every night, she will eliminate one of you until only the winner remains" some of the families whispered and groaned.

"Seeing as there's only a handful of you, this will only take a week at most" your father gave them all a sneaking grin, "though I will warn you, my daughter is quite unforgiving to any flaws she might find, if any of you don't make the cut, she might expel you all tomorrow" only one family was unshaken by the threat, and you couldn't help but stare after the composed Vinsmokes as they left.

It has been three days and already more than half the princes have been eliminated, but not for doing anything you hated or found as a flaw, it was more complicated than that.

You just decided to go along with the sly Vinsmoke prince who was 'eliminating' his competition.

On the first day you watched curious as he sabotaged the Dequire prince's breakfast, instead of ratting him out, you followed his little plot and booted out the unfortunate victim.

The next day you eliminated the Sulzee prince, whose clothes you found tampered with, along with another prince you just found too ambitious for a kingdom known for their wheat.

Although it was probably against the rules, you didn't want the Vinsmoke son to leave yet, you found his behavior intriguing, and his personality amusing, if things were different you might've chosen him to be your husband.

Might've.

But after the guests retired to their rooms on the first night, your father clearly displayed his annoyance to you about the Vinsmokes arrival, finding that only offering their second son and not their firstborn was a clear insult, not only that but he felt your kingdom had no need for an army, or their technological advancements.

Marrying him would be the same as giving you up for nothing, as such your clear choice was to be the other remaining suitor, the prince of Stribus.

Tonight as the last night, the three of you were to enjoy the highlights of your kingdom before you chose one as your husband.

Finally allowing the maids to add the finishing touches on your evening dress, you turned to look at the glowing lights amongst the fine black fabric and allowed a small smile.

Bidding your father a farewell, you stepped into your carriage and greeted the two princes.

But you found yourself wanting the welcome the Vinsmoke son more than you should've, and you realized tonight was going to be very long indeed.
