Chapter 29

Hey, guys! Good to see you again and it's great to be back from my (short) hiatus! Hope you enjoy this chapter and happy reading!

The cabin was swaying violently with the storm, rocking back and forth wildly. Despite this though, the four occupants were sleeping. North was snoring, his limp beard flipping wildly, Olaf was twitching his legs, thinking of puppy dreams, Jack was sleeping restlessly, and Elsa was breathing softly, contentedly asleep.

From under the door, smoky images silently slithered into the room. They floated across the cabin and swirled around Elsa. She didn't seem to notice as the images seemed to enter her head. She smiled in her sleep as she fell into a deep dream...

..~..

Elsa, in a beautiful white dress, was walking peacefully through a sunny part of a lovely forest on a spring day. She reached down to pick some pretty flowers, then looked up as it seemed to get dark. Ominous looking clouds covered the sun, obscuring most of her surrounding in close to total darkness. Elsa, giving one more wary glance, reached down to pick another flower when she heard a growl.

Elsa spun around to see an enormous bear emerge from the trees. She tried to scream and run, but her body was frozen in place as more bears emerged and headed straight for her. She could feel her feet finally moving as she backed away, but then she suddenly felt a tug. She looked down and could see the once beautiful flowers grow long and horrible thorns as they wrapped around her ankles, impeding her escape.

The forest grew darker as the bears' eyes, glowing yellow, multiplied and moved closer. Elsa gave a hard tug with her legs and was able to pull free of the flowers, and rushed to the safety of a large tree. She swiftly climbed the tree, narrowly escaping the bears' outstretched claws and teeth. Looking down from her perch on a sturdy branch, the ground and the bears seemed miles away. She gave a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, the branch jolted her, and almost falling, she held on to it tightly. But to her horror, the branch turned towards her. No longer was it a tree branch, but a huge, ugly snake with red eyes and immense teeth that came right for her.

Elsa leaped to another branch, but it also turned to a snake that narrowly bit her. She jolted backwards and began to fall towards a hundred yellow eyes, fifty blood red mouths, and thousands of sharp teeth. As Elsa fell, she let out a silent scream.

..

A burst of sunlight nearly blinded Elsa as she fell into a field of soft golden wheat. Unharmed, confused, but very relieved, she stood up and looked around at the beautiful sunny wheat field.

..~..

In reality, inside the cabin, Elsa's eyes were closed as she smiled in her sleep and sat up in bed, tiny wisps of smoke still swirling around her head. As she got out of bed, she unintentionally stepped on Olaf's tail, waking him.

Olaf gave a yelp of surprise and noticed the sleeping Elsa open the cabin door and walk out. He whimpered, knowing that something was definitely wrong. He rose to follow her but the ship pitched, sending him sliding across the cabin floor.

Outside, Elsa walked out on the deck, the ship pitching violently in the storm, as she smiled contentedly.

..~..

In her dream, Elsa was walking through the wheat field to the edge of a bluff. A few yards above the bluff, she saw a beautiful little pond where a family frolicked in the clear water; laughing, splashing, and swimming happily. She climbed over a low, flowering wall to look closer.

..~..

In actuality, Elsa had climbed over the railing of the deck and was looking into the black ocean, smiling.

..

Inside the cabin, Olaf finally righted himself from his slide across the floor and began to bark into Jack's ear.

..

On the deck, Elsa was waving happily at the dangerous water. The wind and rain whipping at her face and the occasional slap of the waves against her feet didn't even seem to bother her. The harsh elements of the weather couldn't bring her out of her fantasy world.

..~..

In her dream, Elsa was waving to the family. They turned around and she saw that it was the Arendelle family, from the frieze that she saw in the palace. Her eyes lit up and she smiled, delighted to see them, as she felt a distant recollection of who they were to her.

..~..

Olaf jumped up and nipped at Jack's hand. Jack immediately woke up, cursing and shouting. He looked over to see who the perpetrator was, and realized that it was an anxious Olaf.

"If you have to go, wake her up," Jack grumbled, gesturing to Elsa's bed. Looking over to her side of the room, he realized that she was missing. He sat up quickly and threw his legs over the side and rushed to her bed, his heart beating with panic. She wasn't there. His eyes widened and he looked to the flailing door, realizing the one place where she could be.

..~..

The Arendelle family waved to Elsa, smiling kindly at her. Agdar waved for her to jump into the clear pond and join them. Elsa nodded happily and moved to jump in.

..~..

On the deck, Elsa got ready to jump into the violent and icy black waves. She took one step out when...Jack grabbed her shoulders.

Elsa jolted awake from her dreams, confused at first, then terrified to see what had almost happened to her. Jack lifted her to the other side of the railing and looked at her.

"What were you doing?!" Jack yelled at her. Out of anger or to be heard over the raging storm, or maybe even both, she didn't know.

Elsa put her hands over her mouth in shock, shaking and almost crying with fear. She threw her arms over Jack and held him tightly, sobbing.

Jack surprised at this sudden gesture, nonetheless tightened his arms around her.

"It's okay now," Jack soothed her. "I've got you. You're safe."

The both of them stood steady on the deck in a tight embrace, their feelings for each other stronger than ever before. Stronger than the storm itself.
