Chapter 26

Hey, guys! Hope you enjoy this chapter and happy reading!

Later in the evening, Elsa was in their cabin, pacing back and forth and muttering to herself, all while Olaf watched with interest.

"Bendikke Danuta...Flavia Hallstein...Jannica Leena..." Elsa whispered to herself. "The first generation of the Arendelle line.

"Nefton Perdy, great grandfather of Randy Tellev, the twentieth king of Arendelle.

"Vega Xenia, also known as The Steel Hammer, renowned sister of Zacharias Xenia. The first female ruler.

"Åsbjørn Odolv, Arendelle's thirty-first king and finest military general.

"Myles Helgunn, the first king to petition-"

"I see you're studying up on the names," a voice said.

Elsa whipped her head around to see Jack standing by the doorway, grinning at her.

Elsa smiled. "Yes. It's never a bad time to go over the Arendelle family tree, considering how many there are.

"How are you?" Elsa asked, looking at him in concern. "Are you all right from the hit?"

Jack waved his hand. "I told you already: I'm fine. It takes a lot more than that to leave me winded.

"Don't mistake me as a scrawny, defenseless guy, Elsa," Jack said, wagging his finger and giving her a pretend no-nonsense look. "It really wounds me."

Elsa rolled her eyes, smiling. "All right, all right. I was just wondering, okay?"

Jack chuckled. "No, really, I'm good, Elsa. You don't have to worry about me."

Elsa smiled at him, a look of relief on her face. "Well, I'm glad to hear that."

They continued to look at each other, soft smiles on their lips. It wasn't until Olaf barked at a passing seagull that they broke their gaze from each other, shyly looking away.

Jack cleared his throat a bit embarrassingly. "Uh, so...you said you were going over the Arendelle family tree?"

Elsa nodded. "Yes...I was...going over them by century." She couldn't help herself, but Elsa noticed the way his hair flopped and stuck out here and there. If only she could reach out and brush away some of the stray hairs away from his face...

She jerked herself away from her train of thoughts.

Elsa, stop it! she scolded herself.

"Would you mind if I tested you?" Jack asked.

Elsa shook her head. "No, not at all."

"Great," Jack smiled at her, and immediately Elsa blushed. It seemed now, more than ever that he had that kind of affect on her. "Let's see... Who was the prince that had been attempted to be assassinated multiple times?"

"That would be Ian Vilfred," Elsa said. "Also known as Ian the Invincible."

"Correct," Jack said. "And how did they try to assassinate him?"

"By poisoning him, shooting him from the balcony, and suffocating him with a pillow in his sleep," Elsa said, counting off the list with her fingers.

"Good, good," Jack nodded. "And who were his brothers?"

"Micael, Yannick, Nehemiah, and Cyprian."

"Name me six rulers who were notorious for their gambling," Jack said.

"Ådel Nelberg, Cathrine Maija, Børje The Third, Cristine Hanniken, Bergitte Ditlevine, Frankie The Second, and Helmik Jerly."

Jack frowned. "You listed seven."

"You missed one."

"Well, someone's being an overachiever today," he teased.

Elsa rolled her eyes teasingly. "Next question."

"Who was the ruler who petitioned a change in the economy?"

"That would be Leoni Nicolette," Elsa said.

"Good. Now tell me the five children of the fourth generation of rulers," Jack said. "And give me a brief description of them all."

Elsa nodded. "All right. Well, to start off, the fourth generation of rulers were King Ib and Queen Ranfrid. At first, people resented their rule because Queen Ranfrid was from another country. But as time passed and the King and Queen showed that they were nothing but kind and fair, they were later deemed as one of the best rulers in history.

"And as for their children," Elsa said, now starting to pace around the room again. "Let's see... Well, their first child, Heli Rangdi, was said to be the sweetest and most gentle out of all the children. People said that she was naive, resilient, sentimental, helpful and kind, but could also be quite assertive and had the sternness of a mother. She often took care of the other children when her parents were busy.

"On the other hand, their second child and first son, Dagulv Dagun, was a headstrong and independent boy. He never let his feelings get the better of him and people would later go on to say that that's what helped him to rule the kingdom.

"Their third child, Odrun Hedvin, was the definition of royalty," Elsa said, pacing back and forth to the lull of the waves. "She was kind, elegant, shy and sophisticated. She was also a hopeless romantic-"

As she turned back to walk towards the door, she bumped herself into Jack, who was standing in front of her, grinning.

"Yes. And?" Jack said, smiling down at her.

She looked into his eyes, speechless. They were so close now that their bodies almost touched. "Well, she was the most sheltered out of all of the children, being slightly gullible and carefree."

And, to her surprise, Jack took her hand in his and placed his other on her waist. "Go on," he said.

Elsa could feel her head spinning as he started to lead her around the room, dancing quietly. "Neil Nikken, their fourth child, was an adventurous and stubborn boy. His curiosity and love for adventure usually got him into trouble. However, he had a heart of gold and a charitable, forgiving side to him."

"Good, good," Jack said quietly, looking into her eyes. "And what about the last one?"

"Odvar Nela was significantly intelligent over the years due to his love of books," Elsa said, getting lost in the sea of his blue eyes. "It provided him an amazing vocabulary, an active imagination, and an open mind. He was very confident and outspoken in his opinions, and seldom liked being told what to do-"

Suddenly, the ship swayed to the left and Elsa was thrown closer into Jack's arms. She steadied herself and looked up at him, and noticed that his cheeks were flushed as well. Neither of them even tried to readjust.

"And those are the children of the fourth generation of the Arendelle line," she whispered, holding on to his arms.

They continued to gaze at each other, their breaths coming in small pants. By now, they had stopped dancing and now stood in the center of the room, silently looking at the other.

"Elsa," Jack whispered.

"Yes, Jack?" she said breathlessly,

"There's something I-"

Suddenly, the door opened, and North came into the room, humming cheerfully. His eyes widened slightly at the scene before him. He realized that he had interrupted something.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," North said apologetically. "I was just going to grab my coat I had forgotten." He quickly walked to his bed and scooped up his coat.

"No, no," Jack said, both of them hastily untangling themselves from each other. "It's all right, North. We were just finishing up on some questions."

"And dancing lessons," Elsa added hurriedly. She could still feel the color on her cheeks as she walked over to North's side. "Is it all right with you, North, if you gave me another lesson on dancing? I feel like I'm not ready yet."

North nodded. "Why, of course, my dear. Although, if it eases you, I think you dance perfectly. You are a natural! I don't know how you could have ever learned to dance this well without some prior knowledge. That must have been some high class orphanage."

Elsa smiled as she started walking with North. "Thank you, North. I appreciate the compliment."

As she walked by Jack, she smiled shyly up at him. "And thank you too, Jack. For the lessons."

And she left the room, her heart thudding rapidly in her chest.
