auston matthews // toronto maple leafs

requested

you woke up with the disturbing blare of your alarm.

today was meet and greet day. you were doing a meet and greet in toronto with some other hockey players as well. did you know who was going to be there? absolutely not. that didn't matter though.

you were quite popular due to your brother being capitals very own, alex ovechkin and having a very unique gift in hockey skill.

you got dressed in your favorite jeans and hoodie. you hopped in your car and drove to the place you would be for 3.5 hours of signing and greeting fans.

you walked in through the back door of the establishment.

"hi i'm charlotte. i'm the event coordinator." a woman greeted smiling.

"cosette ovechkin." you smiled back.

"we're so pleased to have you here." charlotte shook your hand.

"i'm pleased to be here."

"ok so i'll get you all set up at your table. if you could follow me please." charlotte guided you over to the place you would be sitting.

the place had four tables set up labeled with names and where each person was from. you glanced at the labels, people had come from everywhere.

"here it is. diagonal from you is thomas chabot, next to you is mats sundin, and across is auston matthews."

you nodded.

"you're the first one here, but others should be rolling in quickly. i'll bring you out a water as soon as possible." charlotte smiled.

"thank you charlotte."

soon enough the rest of the boys strolled in and the meet and greet began.

all the little girls coming up to you and saying how you were their inspiration and why they played hockey made your heart warm. oh and the few young boys who said you were pretty, that was adorable too.

you sat with your feet up on the table absolutely exhausted from speaking to everyone. you scrolled through your social medias completely oblivious to what was going on around you.

"hey." someone said.

you looked up slightly startled and took your feet off the table. auston matthews had moved from his table to right in front of you without you even blinking an eye.

"want a signature matthews?" you answered, putting your phone down.

"no ovechkin." he said, "i want your number." he smirked.

you raised your eyebrows, "forward."

auston looked slightly worried for rejection at this point.

"i like it. hand over the phone." you smirked reaching your hand out.

he handed his phone over and you quickly punched your name and number into the phone.

you got up out of your chair and looked at auston, "use it matthews." you pointed at his phone.

"oh trust me, i will cosette." he stated.

10 years later

"madison matthews, go to bed." you said sternly to your 6 year old.

"someone tell me a story please." madison whined.

"daddy will." you said, "AUSTON."

"what?" he said worried from your yelling.

"can you tell madi a story?"

he nodded relieved and picked up madison, bringing her into her room. you followed closely behind them.

auston told the beautiful story of you guys meeting. that simple moment that blossomed into a beautiful life with a lovely daughter.

you wouldn't exchange it for anything.
