: MY DRAGON

The atmosphere at dinner wasn’t too cordial.

Fei Zheng was a cold and reticent person, and Nan’s parents looked very formal in front of him. Except for a few pleasantries when they first met, there was nothing to say until the end of the meal. If it wasn’t for Fei Cheng’s efforts to liven up the atmosphere, the meal would have been unpalatable. After dinner, Nan HuaiLin went home with his parents, while Fei Cheng had something to say to his brother.

The two brothers sat in the car, the night outside the window, the lights shining brightly.

“Brother,” Fei Cheng said. “I’m going back to the United States to live for a while.”

Fei Zheng didn’t show any surprise. He gave a light hmm and asked, “When are you leaving?”

Fei Cheng said, “Tentatively scheduled for the seventh. Nan Nan;s new drama starts on the tenth. We have to be there a few days earlier.”

Fei Zheng said, “Got it.”

Fei Cheng was silent, then said, “We plan to stay at the house in Atlantic City first. Nan Nan is filming in Princeton, very close to Atlantic City. The second brood is due in October, and then we’ll go to Undersea City. I’ll incubate the eggs and Nan Nan will take care of the babies.”

Fei Zheng frowned. “Nan HuaiLin is going to live with you in Underwater City?”

Fei Cheng nodded. “Mn, if Nan Nan is really fertile, we will have to spend half a year in Undersea City and half a year on land, and live amphibiously.”

Fei Zheng said, “Right now Undersea City is so cold that it is no different from the grave. I’m afraid that he can’t adapt to life there.”

“If he can’t adapt, I’ll let him go back to Atlantic City. I have experience now, and I won’t have a problem hatching eggs alone.” Fei Cheng paused. “Brother, the undersea city will definitely slowly liven up, and so will our dragon clan.”

Fei Zheng imperceptibly hooked the corner of his mouth.

Fei Cheng turned sideways to face him. “Brother, I have a question to ask you.”

Fei Zheng said, “What?”

Fei Cheng looked at the side of his brother’s face and said, “You and Ruan Xin…What is the situation now?”

Fei Zheng was silent for a while before he said indifferently, “There’s nothing going on.”

Fei Cheng believed him.

But Fei Cheng also knew his brother’s character. As long as he did not want to talk, to ask was useless.

Fei Cheng was silent for a short while, then said, “Brother, I’m very happy now, and I hope you’ll be happy as well. I’m sure Xu Maki would hope so too.”

Xu Maki was the name of the one Fei Zheng used to love, who died after a serious illness even after his life expectancy was extended to over two hundred years. After all these years, this was the first time Fei Cheng mentioned this name in front of his brother.

Fei Zheng’s face had little expression. He was quiet for a few seconds, then inclined his head to look at Fei Cheng and calmly said, “Not everyone can have a happy ending. Lucky people are always a minority, most are unfortunate.”

“How do you know you can’t have it, if you don’t fight for it?” Fei Cheng said somewhat eagerly. “Brother, you’ve been too negative all these years.”

Fei Zheng frowned, “Are you lecturing me?”

“I’m not, I’m not,” Fei Cheng immediately became a bit abashed. He was silent for a moment, then said, “I just hope you can find your old self. I miss that warm, crying and laughing brother.”

“Get out of the car if you have nothing else to say,” Fei Zheng said. “I have things to do.”

“Oh.” Fei Cheng had already opened the car door, and turned back to look at his brother. “Brother, I forgot to tell you, Dragon Two is now able to switch freely between human and dragon. Nan Nan is now feeding Dragon One breast milk. I guess Dragon One will soon be able to become human. Then Dragon Three and Dragon Four, so it’s time to give them names in earnest.”

Fei Cheng paused, “Nan Nan and I were discussing three with my surname and two with his, but we didn’t expect the second children to come so soon, so we changed our minds. Brother, Nan Nan and I feel that you are the best person to take a name from. You are the parent of our Fei family, you are the most qualified, so it’s a happy decision. I’m leaving.”

After he said that, Fei Cheng hurriedly got out of the car and left.

Fei Zheng looked at his brother’s fading back and smiled.

The place to eat was not far from home, almost in the neighborhood. Fei Cheng called Nan HuaiLin. “Wife, what are the parents-in-law doing?”

Nan HuaiLin got up, went into the bedroom and closed the door before he said, “Watching TV in the living room. You finished talking to your brother so soon?”

Fei Cheng sighed. “You know that my brother is always shy about words, so I can’t talk to him at all. Little Lan just called me and said that Dragon One won’t sleep until he eats milk, so let’s go back quickly. Should I go up and stay for a while, or wait for you downstairs?”

Nan HuaiLin thought about it. “Wait for me downstairs. I’ll be down in five minutes.”

After he hung up the phone, Nan HuaiLin went back to the living room. “Dad, Mom, I’m going out to meet a friend and may not be back until late, so go to bed early if you’re sleepy, and I’ll take you out tomorrow.”

Geng XiaoRong said, “I just want to see Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.”

“No problem,” Nan HuaiLin said. “What about you, Dad?”

“I just watched the news on my phone, and Tiananmen Square is packed like dumplings,” Nan Zunshan said. “I don’t want to go anywhere. I just want to stay home.”

Geng XiaoRong said, “I came to Beijing for the first time in my life, and it might be the last time, so I definitely want to go around and see what’s going on. It’s no fun to be bored at home.”

Nan HuaiLin smiled and said, “Then you guys talk about it. I’ll go out first.”

Fei Cheng was sitting in the driver’s seat playing with his cell phone. When he saw Nan HuaiLin was approaching, he opened the passenger door with his arm.

Nan HuaiLin sat down. Fei Cheng put on his seatbelt, gave him a kiss, and asked with a smile, “Did Mom and Dad say anything after dinner?”

Nan HuaiLin said, “That your brother is taller than you, more handsome than you, and more mature than you, especially imposing, and that he is a social elite.”

“How come such a high evaluation?” Fei Cheng drove off. “I was worried that they would think my brother was too cool, and not easy to get along with.”

Nan HuaiLin said, “My parents are so old. They don’t just look at people on the surface.”

“Yes, yes, yes. Parents-in-law are wise and wonderful.” Fei Cheng smiled and said, “By the way, did Mom and Dad say where they want to go tomorrow?”

Nan HuaiLin said, “My mom wants to go to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, and my dad wants to stay home because there are too many people outside.”

Fei Cheng said, “It’s definitely crowded, but we must go out to play. Then let’s go to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City tomorrow.”

Nan HuaiLin said, “I’m afraid that it will be hard to get away if the fans recognize me.”

Fei Cheng said, “Why don’t you stay home, and I’ll take your parents out by myself?”

Nan HuaiLin shook his head. “I want to spend more time with them before I go to America.”

Fei Cheng reached over, and rubbed his hair. “Have you talked to your parents? What did they say?”

Nan HuaiLin smiled. “They told me to work hard, take care of myself, and not to worry about them.” He paused. “Only after becoming a parent can you truly understand your parents, and how great their love is.”

Fei Cheng held his hand, and didn’t say anything.

It was almost eleven o’clock when they arrived at the villa.

Nan HuaiLin said hello to Lancelot, and carried Dragon One upstairs.

He was watching the TV, which was showing Nan HuaiLin’s variety show. Fei Cheng sat next to him and they watched it together.

“Nan is unexpectedly funny,” Lancelot said with a smile. “I just cried with laughter.”

Nan HuaiLin was playing a singing game. Singing the wrong lyrics meant being electrocuted. The others were trembling, a great reaction to be electrocuted, but Nan HuaiLin was nothing like the other people. The post for him added the special effects of the iron arm Astro Boy, “not afraid” BGM, and naive and funny.

Fei Cheng smiled and watched for a while. Suddenly he said, “By the way, my wife’s new drama started today. Did you contribute to the ratings?”

“I didn’t pull a single episode, I watched it all.” Lancelot said, “To be honest, ah, the plot is not very impressive, but the face and acting skills of Nan saved the drama. He is completely the true reflection of the title of the drama. Shining, so people can not move their eyes.”

Fei Cheng smiled smugly, “Don’t love him too much, I’ll get jealous.”

Lancelot sighed, “Xiao Nan is good everywhere, just not very good vision. How can he see you?”

“Fuck off. You don’t feel good if you don’t dislike me,” Fei Cheng scolded with a laugh. “My wife and I were born to be a perfect match.”

The smile on Lancelot’s face became a bit sullen,

“If I love you and you happen to love me, it is really a rare, but attainable love. If people live for a lifetime and can’t have such love, it really is a waste of life. I think I may have to live this life in vain.”

Fei Cheng said, “You can still live for hundreds of years and slowly encounter it. You could always meet it, so don’t be so sad. It’s not you.”

Lancelot laughed and didn’t answer.

Fei Cheng added, “By the way, are you sure you don’t want to go to America with us?”

Lancelot shook his head, “If I say no, I don’t want to go. I want to stay in Beijing and leave when I’m tired of it. I’ll move to the Dong Fang Mansion after you guys leave, and go downtown.”

Fei Cheng said, “If Lowden asks about you, what should I say?”

Lancelot was silent, then he smiled and said, “I’m afraid he’s forgotten all about me, so don’t mention me to him.”

On the TV, Nan HuaiLin was playing a human scrabble game. Three people were spelling the word “Lin.” Nan HuaiLin lay on the huge meter grid and placed his hands and feet together on the top cross, then spelled the word “Silk.” The host spat at him, “Nan Nan is a straight man with a capital letter,” which was typed on the screen later, with a big double quote mark over the word “straight.”

Lancelot smiled and said, “Nan is such a little cutie.”

Fei Cheng stood up. “Going looking for my wife. I miss him.”

Lancelot spat at him, “Too clingy. It will make people annoyed.”

Fei Cheng said, “Watch your TV, old man.”

“You’re the old man!” Lancelot grabbed a pillow and threw it, but Fei Cheng caught it precisely.

Dragon One fell asleep while eating, so Nan HuaiLin carried him back to his room, gently put him in the hammock, and looked at the other little ones before he quietly exited. Just as he closed the door, an embrace silently pressed up from behind.

“Is our son asleep?” Fei Cheng asked in a low voice.

“You startled me,” Nan HuaiLin sighed in relief. “He fell asleep after eating for a while.”

Fei Cheng said, “Let’s sleep here and go back in the morning after feeding Dragon One.”

Nan HuaiLin nodded, “Okay.”

After they showered together, the two of them sat side by side on the bed, held up the iPad and watched The Shining You.

Nan HuaiLin just watched ten minutes and then he didn’t want to watch it. “I didn’t feel it during the shooting, but the main movie is so juvenile. Don’t watch it.”

Fei Cheng smiled and said, “I think it’s very nice. I can watch a hundred episodes just by looking at your face.”

Nan HuaiLin picked up his phone. “I’ll see what the reaction is on Weibo.”

He didn’t even need to search, because The Shining You was hanging in the first hot search. He clicked in and browsed through. Almost everyone was licking the screen. He clicked into his own Weibo page, and saw the promotional blog posted that afternoon. The retweets and comments were approaching half a million, and the comment section was more lively than the New Year.

@a meow: [blow up the shiny little Lin-zi!]

@OrangeHuaiNan: [Go watch Nan Nan’s variety show debut, it’s really cute hahahahaha]

@gleamingyouunderstand: [are you the devil? I’m going to be fascinated by you!]

Fei Cheng came over, looked at it twice and said with a smile, “The response is very good.”

Nan HuaiLin put his phone aside. “Their fan filter is about ten meters thick.”

Fei Cheng said seriously, “My wife is the best looking in the world. No need for filters at all.”

“You are the one with the thickest filter,” Nan HuaiLin snatched the iPad and put it aside. “Stop looking at it and go to sleep. You have to get up early tomorrow.”

Fei Cheng smiled and said, “Let’s play a game before we go to sleep.”

“What game?” Nan HuaiLin paused and said, “No porn games.”

Fei Cheng said, “Let’s play the Scrabble game you played on the variety show.”

Thinking of the day of the recording, Nan HuaiLin couldn’t help but laugh. “Which word do you want to spell?”

Fei Cheng thought for a moment and said, “Let’s play the word 比, (euphemistic variant of the word pussy) a competition word.”

“That’s too easy.” Nan HuaiLin rolled over with his back to Fei Cheng and was posing when Fei Cheng suddenly came up and pushed him with the straight hot thing below.

Fei Cheng chuckled and said, “It’s a little more graphic here.”

Nan HuaiLin, “…”

Fooled. This is a porn game, liar.
