Bryson

I walk to my parents' room and pick up Alice and Justin. They both clutch onto my hands as we walk to our room. They were going to sleep in my room tonight because one; I was paranoid about them being kidnapped as well and two; I needed them in order to keep my mind off of Everett.

"Daddy are you leaving tomorrow?" Alice asks. Her eyes are big and wide. Like the ocean wide and vast and full of wondrous things.

"Yes baby, I'll be leaving tomorrow when the sun rises. I'm going to save Mommy and bring her back to us." I look down at both of then, smiling gently.

"Okay," Logan trails off. I know that him and Alice are nervous that me or Everett may not return to them and they would lose another Mommy and Daddy.

Alice and Justin have been through so much even at there young age. Their pack was attacked and destroyed by rogues and they were the only survivors. They have nightmares at night of that day and I just want to take their pain away. I am determined to get Everett back for them and for me. They need their Mama and I need my mate back. After being away from her for ten years I am not willing to see her gone again.

I grab their hands tightly but still gently, not wanting to hurt them but wanting to make sure they are safe and with me. I am not going to let them leave. I can't allow my family to be hurt more.

Alice yawns and I see her rub her eyes with the back of her hand. I see that her eyes are tired and as I look at Justin he is also tired and yawning as we walk towards my room. I open the door and bring them in. I grab the pajamas that Everett had put in our room for them and it makes my heart hurt as I think of her.

Her glossy brown hair and green eyes that I had inherited when she left and lost her memories. The brown streaks that appeared in my blonde hair and the change in the colour of my left eye from blue to green. I am glad this happened because it helped me in remembering my mate. Remembering my Everett.

I help them get dressed because I can see the toll that the stress of the day has taken on them. I tuck them into my bed and turn off the lights. I feel a small hand grab my hand.

"Daddy, can you tell us a story?" I hear Alice ask in the darkness.

"Sure honey, what kind of story do you want to hear?" I sit down on the side of the bed and look in the general direction that their faces are in.

"Can we hear the story of how you and Mommy met?"

Oh what a story that is, I think to myself and chuckle softly. But it soon stops when my heart twinges at the thought of it.

"Well when Mommy was born I was three years old. You know Grandma and Grandpa are Mommy's parents. Well on the day Mommy and Uncle Logan were born Nana, Papa, and I all went to the hospital to see them." I pause when I think about that day and a small smile graces my lips.

"We went to visit and there she was your Mama all wrapped up in a pink blanket and she was sleeping. I knew the moment I saw her that she was my mate. I walked over and looked at her. And the first thing that came out of my mouth was 'she's so ugly and wrinkly'. My voice seemed to wake her and as she peered at me a smile graced her lips and she reached up and grabbed my finger." I feel tears prick at the corners of my eyes and I will myself not to let them free. "And that is how me and Mama met."

Justin and Alice are asleep and I hear their light snoring. I stand up and make my way over to the window seat and look at the waning moon. I feel the tears pour down my cheek and I place my hand over my mouth to stifle my sobs.

How could I let this happen again? Again. No pair of mates should have to go through what Everett and I have gone through. But there has to be a reason why Everett and I have gone through this. The Moon Goddess paired us together for some reason and I know that there is a reason. It may be so small we may not be able to see it. But it may be so big that it is bigger than anything we have faced. But I know that we will get through this because we can get through anything with the love that we hold for each other.

And with this last fleeting thought I allow myself to fall asleep under the watchful eye of the waning moon and the Moon Goddess.

I awake and I see that it is still dark out and the bedside clock reads 4:37 I have about an hour and a half until we leave. Showering in order to wake up I start to get ready. Picking up Alice and Justin I bring them to my parents' room where they will be staying while I am gone. They both fall back asleep on my shoulder as I walk across the pack house.

"Bryson," my father acknowledges me as I knock on their door.

I nod in response not wanting to wake my son and daughter. I set them down on the blow up mattress that my mother has set up in the corner. I know that whenever I need any help my parents are the ones I can ask. I pull the Winnie the Pooh comforter that I recognize as my old one over them and kiss their foreheads.

"I love you both and I promise that I will get Mommy back home safe and sound," I whisper.

"Love you too Daddy," I hear them both mumble before turning towards each other and falling back asleep. I can't help but smile knowing that they will be together forever just like Everett and I.

I walk out of the room and see my parents standing outside, waiting for me. Oh god here comes the teary goodbye like I'm leaving forever.

"Bryson just promise that you will be careful. Don't do anything reckless please and just return home safe and sound," my mother says and hugs me tightly. She knows that I am probably going to through myself into any situation in order to save my mate.

"Mom, I promise," I lie. I just want to make her feel better. "I will return home with Everett. I have a family to come home too." I smile to her and hug her closer.

I turn to my dad and hold my hand out. My dad was never the sensitive type of man. He grasps my hand and pulls me close into a tight hug. My eyes widen, "Return home safe, my son. If you don't your mother and I will never forgive you." His voice is threatening and I know he is genuine.

"I will return," I say and pull away.

I walk to Logan's room knowing that he is not awake. He never wakes up early. I think it is physically impossible for him to wake up early without the assistance of cold water being poured on him.

But, to my utter surprise, when I go to his room he is already up and ready. His features are set and his face is emotionless. He is determined to save his sister. Just as determines as I am to saving my mate and pup.

"Let's do this," I say and wrap my arms around his shoulder.

"Yes, we have someone to save and no one is going to stop us," he replies patting my back and offering a small smile.

When we leave the pack house everyone is outside and waiting for us. Me and Logan walk to the front of the group and everyone becomes silent.

"I want to thank everyone for leaving the safety of our pack territory and coming with us to save my mate and your Luna. I know this is going to be a tough and dangerous rescue mission and I want to allow anyone that does not want to accompany us to leave now." No one leaves. "Thank you again. Now on my signal we leave," I say and strip down.

Feeling my wolf take over and the shift begin I allow it to come freely. My wolf stands tall and strong in front of everybody. I feel the power surge through me and everyone shifts and bows their wolfish heads. I howl and everyone takes off Logan and I leading them side by side.

'Everett, don't worry we're on our way and nothing will stop us from saving you!'

Everett

'Everett, don't worry we're on our way and nothing will stop us from saving you!' I hear the faintest of whispers in my head and I know that it is Bryson.

Joy overwhelms my senses and I allow myself to relax for a split second. But as allow myself to sag the silver in the chains burns my wrists. I was now drugged chained to table with silver chains. I try to reply to Bryson but I get no response.

During the first couple of hours I tried to break free from these chains but now I was drained and my wolf and I had to save our energy in order to protect our pup. Greg and Alpha John had not come to see me since I had kicked him in the balls. But I was okay with that.

I hear the door open and I fidget around trying to get as far away as possible. But as I see a girl no older than I walk in, I stop. What is she doing here? She holds a tray with a piece of bread and a glass of water. I feel my dry throat constrict at the thought of liquid.

The girl comes over and I see that her clothes hang off her unthinkably skinny body. I feel a sense of pity for the girl. How long has she been here for?

When she looked up I noticed a long scar run over just above her eyebrow to just below her cheek bone and I see that it is a pale blue while her other was dark blue. She was blind in one eye. The poor girl. But she was still beautiful with her heart shaped face and dark blonde hair. Her features were soft but still strong.

She came over and set the tray on the edge of the steel table in which I was occupying. She twirled a crank and it rose the table up so I was in a standing position. It caused my wrists and ankles to burn and I winced.

"I'm sorry, I know it hurts but it is the only way that I can give you the food so you don't choke," she mumbles. Her voice is soft and sound like tinkling bells.

"It's okay. I've been through all of this before," I say to her and I see her eyes widen but she doesn't reply.

She rips a piece of the bread off and feeds me. Occasionally giving me sips of water. When the bread is half done I turn my head away when she offers it to me.

"You take it. You're to skinny." When she opens her mouth to protest I continue, "You need it more than I do. Trust me I have been through this and I am willingly giving you this bread I just wished someone would have gave me some bread when I wanted it."

"Thank you," she says and takes a bite of the bread before hurriedly taking another.

I nod to the half full or in some peoples perspective half empty glass of water. She gulps that down greedily like she hasn't had anything to drink for a couple of days. And she probably hasn't because that is how they treat slaves and know that I look she has the silver collar of a slave on her neck.

"What is your name?" I ask.

"Ella Silvester," she replies and I place my hand on her neck just above the collar.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl." Ella looks down at the floor, embarrassed.

"Thank-" she's cut off by the door slamming open.

"Get out," Greg snarls at Ella and she hesitates, looking at me before slowly walking towards the door.

When she gets to the door she looks back at me and I smile reassuring her that I was going to be alright. But by the distant look on her face on her face, I know she doesn't believe me and I'm not sure I believe myself either. The door shutting echoes throughout the room and it causes me to shudder.

Greg's sickening laugh irrupts around me, "Time to get started."
