I reach the end of the docks, and take a seat. I question why I ran out barefoot. My feet dangling from the floorboard. It's only a few minutes until sunset. I'm thankful that Ahua didn't put mascara on me because if she did, then my face would be one big mess.

I watch as the tears prickle down my cheeks and into the water below. If I fall, everything will stop. The pain, the mixed emotions, everything. I shake off the feeling if jumping and wipe my tears. Not realising what's going on beside me, Matt takes a seat with a guitar. He begins to sing.

He places his guitar down before lifting my chin. Removing the hair from my face & wiping my eyes dry, I look into his eyes. He smiles before wrapping his arms around me, I move and sit on his lap. I trace his jaw line with my thumb before smiling.

"As long as I'm with you, I don't care what other people think" he whispers before gently pressing his lips against mine.

He wraps his hands around my waist as I wrap mine around his neck, running a few of my fingers through his hair. He pulls back gasping for breath as I do the same.

"Would you Wikitoria Tihore please be mine?" He asks before taking my hand in his.

"Yes" I give him a quick peck on the lips.

"You ready to go back inside?" He questions. I nod. We both stand up and walk hand in hand, with his guitar in his free hand. He places the guitar in the back of Chas' car before walking inside. I trail behind him as we enter, all eyes on me.

I ignore that and continue walking to my table.

"You good cuz?" Eliana asks.

"Yeh, I just needed air" I answer.

"You sure" Shaun questions. "Yeah, I'm fine now, where's Suli?" I answer.

"Oh, far Ria you should have seen it. As soon as you left, she went to Lisa and pulled her out by her hair." Drew chuckles.

"Hey bro, what's up with the lipstick?" Shaun laughs. I notice the faint red lipstick in the corner of his mouth. Ahua & Eliana's smirk couldn't get any more larger.

"Oh, Ria told me it tasted like Heaven so I wanted some" what a cheesy guy. I give an innocent smile.

"Ok guys just to be clear, this" Ahua gestures to the Vodka. "is only for Caesar, Eli, Lucas and I alright, Lebron" she adds.

"Aye, you's can drink. Just don't let me see Shaun drunk, that is a site I never want to see again" he says in disgust which causes the Flavell's to burst into laughter.

"I'm not even going to ask" Eliana shrugs. Suli walks back in and sits in her seat.

"You ok girl?" She asks.

"Yeah... I'm fine, where did you go?" I reply.

"Just went to through the rubbish away" she says while fixing up her hair.

"Ok, uh.... Now, my brothers and my cousin are gonna entertain you's by singing some classic Maori songs" we didn't even realise the twins speaking on stage.

"I think they're talking about you 3" Ahua gestures to Chas, Shaun and I.

"Go, hurry up.. We wanna be entertained" Caesar laughs. We all get up from our seats and walk to the stage.

"Did you know we were singing" I ask. They both shrug, no.

"Ok um... I'm Ria and this is Chas & Shaun. Ahh... The song were going to sing is an old maori classic called Tiaho Mai Ra. And to my cousins, we'd really like it if you tell us beforehand we were singing. So uh, enjoy" I say before we begin singing.

"Ok, that's it people, birthday shoutout to those to eggs, love you's heaps. And good night" Shaun laughs into the microphone as we all place them down and head back to our table.

"Damn cuz, never knew you could sing like that" Ahua says in awe.

"It's cos she always to scared to sing aye cuz" Drew reverse nods in my direction.

I feel Matt rest his hand on my thigh. I lean against the table with my elbow. Ahua leans over the table and pours whine into her, Caesar, Shaun & Eliana's cup.

"Hey, Ria. Can you help me fix my dress in the bathroom" Suli asks while walking to the bathroom. I follow behind her.

"What happened while you's were outside?" she asks while sitting on the counter of the sink.

"Huh?" I mumble.

"Girrll, don't lie. I saw you's two at the docks so talk" she snaps her fingers.

"Ok so I was crying, and then he came next to me and sang Wade In Your Water. After I was still crying and he sand No Other Love. After he finished that song, he asked me out the we kissed and went back inside" I explain.

"Ahhhh, my Ria has a boyfriend" she squeals while hugging me.

"But Foreals, that's heaps romantic. You better hold onto him" she tells me.

"I don't even know what to do. I don't even know if I kissed him right. Since when did having a boyfriend become so hard?" I let out.

"Don't worry you'll get used to it, don't worry if you kissed him right because you probably did. He loves you heaps girl" she smiles.

"Ok, let's go" I smile back. See this is why I love this girl, she opens my eyes & yells at me at the same time. But she means well.

We take a seat, just in time for desert. The waiters place a bowl of vanilla ice cream with squashed almonds on top and a piece of the twins birthday cake. One spoon into my mouth, it was refreshing. Something to ease of the butterflies I've been feeling ever since I came back inside.

As I finish my ice cream, I turn my head to Matt. He has a white moustache on top of his lip. I laugh a bit.

"You got a little something..." I say as he faces me.

"Huh?" He mumbles. I lean a little closer and place my hand around his chin, wiping the ice cream with my thumb.

I can feel his warm breath hit my cheeks.

"Are you guys doing a hongi or kissing. Cos if your kissing then...." I can hear Drew's voice.

Matt leans closer causing me to place a finger on his lips.

"Aye not here, my Nan could be watching" I whisper before pulling back.

He smirks at me causing me to blush.

"Ok it has reached the end of the night and I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came tonight. Even if he doesn't admit it, this means a lot to Hoani... Uh.... Thanks mum & Nan for organising this, you's are the best. Thank you to my brothers & Ria for singing, you's are mad & I thank god for gathering us all together. Hope you's gave a good night" Lani smiles.

We all clap as people begin to leave the building. Our entire table is one of the lasts to leave, just clearing a few things. I feel someone hug me and find Lani.

"Hey..... A lots happened since the last time I saw you aye? I remember you were single back then haha" she laughs.

"Tamariki (kids) ko to da ka (go to the car)"'Nan tells us. We all walk outside. The twins & Caesar pulls out a cigarette and inhales it.

"It was a good night tonight" Eliana smiles.

"Yeh, feels like I haven't seen the oldies together since we were little" Caesar nods.

"Hurry up, lets go" Aunty Teresa rushes us. We all begin to dismantle into the car we came from. I feel a hand creep up my wrist, turning me around.

"Good night beautiful" he breathes before brushing his lips against mine. His arms and held firmly around my waist while mine are around his neck.

I hear one of the boys clearing their throats indicating we should stop.

"Bye Matt" I smile letting go of his hand.

"Ya'll better not be kissing every time I turn around or else he'll be kissing my fists" Caesar laughs placing an arm around my shoulder.

"Aye, leave her alone C, she's grown" Ahua steals me from his grip.

"I'm just saying. But your right, it's almost her 17th, but until then, lips must be 2 feet apart at all times" he laughs.

"Night C" I kiss his cheek before getting into Eliana's car.

The ride home was filled with the girls congratulating me and talking about how good he is and how I should hold on to him.

"If you didn't fall or him, I would have" Suli laughs.

Arriving home was so relaxing, I laid in bed finally have some free time. Yep, free time to sleep.
