Ria's Pov

The people are talking. The people are saying that you have been playing my heart, like a grand piano

In bed was a beat up, bruised Matt.

I felt as if my heart was ripped out of my chest.

What stopped me from running to him wasn't the fact that I was shocked. But because Lisa had beaten me to it.

"I'm done with you"

 I closed the door and ran down the stairs.

"Ria are you ok?" - Mrs Ioane

"I'll be fine, you may want to go check on your son tho" I said before rushing out the front door and running back home.

The next day at school, it looked like everyone had known about the break up. Girls looking at me and whispering to each other, a few of Matt's friend and team mates gave me a sympathetic look.

Suli and Lani were no where to be found so I was all alone.

"Hey cuz, you alg?" Lebron placed a hand around my shoulder and helped me walk through the hall way of hell.

"Ya'll keep looking at my cousin like that and I'll get my brothers & sister on you!" He yelled making everyone turn the other way.

"Thanks baby cuz" I smiled giving him a hug. Of course we were apart by a few years but that didn't stop him from having a growth spurt.

"I'll wait with you until Lani & Suli get to school" he took a seat beside me in the secluded area of school.

Five minutes before the first bell rings, Suli & Lani joins us.

"What took you's so long?" I asked

Lebron, Lani & Suli just stared at each other.

"What?"

"Oh, I accidentally  spilled coffee on my blouse and Suli was helping me get it off" - Lani

"Ok" I didn't have it in me to question anything or anyone. I didn't even have the energy to carry out a conversation.

I was eating lunch with the usual gang, Lani, Suli, Hunter (Hoani) & Shaun.

"Hey Ri . Haven't seen you all day" - Hunter

"I know, where have you been?"

"Ah ... rugby. You know us boys"

"Yeah"

The table was quiet for a few seconds.

"So Ria, have you heard about Maaaaaaroubra"

"Maroubra?"

"Yeah, that place in Sydney. It's a killer beach"

"Ok"

"I was thinking Ria, if we were to change our Netball dresses for next year. Would you like blue with yellow stripes or yellow with blue stripes?" - Suli

"Whatever"

Once again there was a silence.

"Aye Ria, after school we should go beach. Piha or Devonport?" - Lani

"Any is fine"

"RIA!" The voice kept coming louder making the four on my table jump to there feet.

"Sorry dox, my cousin doesn't want to speak with you" - Hunter

"Just for a few minutes"

"You heard my brother, now run along to your little hoe" - Lani.

Out of no where came Lisa and slammed Lani to the ground. Suli's anger kept Lisa's minions away. But that didn't stop me. The anger in me was released when I grabbed Lisa by her hair and pulled her away from my cousin. 

She hooked me in the jaw before I tackled her to the ground. I wasn't even fighting for Matt. I was fighting her because she had the audacity to touch my cousin.

Matt & Shaun had to pull us both away before we killed each other. As soon as that happened, we all had to report to the principles office.

"What happened? Most of you are good kids, have a clean record, where did this come from?" - Principle

"Ms, I'm apologising on behalf of me and my cousins, we didn't mean to start a fight. It was just an argument that turned violent"

"I never expected this from you Ria. And Lani you'r new here"

"Me & my cousin are very sorry and will accept the consequences" - Lani

"Do you have anything to say for yourself, Lisa?"

Lisa remained quiet

"Very well. I'm sorry girls but I have no choice but to suspend all three of you's. Lani I will ring your brother to pick up you and Ria and Lisa I will ring your father"

"Boys, will you walk the girls back to class?" She said to Shaun, Hunter and Matt.

We all walked out of the front office.

"Ria"

"I meant what I said last night so leave me alone" I brushed his hand off me and walked away.

Chas came to pick us up.

"So what exactly got you's to get into a fight?" he says while  driving off.

"Ria's ex mans' new thot" - Lani

"Ohhh ... I get it. Ria do I need to fasi him?" - Chas

"Chas, please don't"

"We'll see. Your heart is the most important thing in your body, physically and emotional. Guard it well"

I nodded to his response. He was always wise, as I remember.

"Starting from now, I will"

Chas wasn't wrong. The world I live in today, faithfulness is hard to find.

Sitting at the dinner table was just Nan, Hua and I.

There were still a few people who didn't know about Matt & I

"How was school today?" - Nan

"Just fine"

"Is everything alright between you and Matiu? I didn't see him yesterday"

"Nan, he cheated on me and we broke up"

"Is that why you got suspended today?"

"No, his kuri uwha wanted to pick a fight with Lani"

"Ria! Kaua kanga (No swearing)"

"koe, kaua i ahau kanga rangei i takoto ahau e? ( Would you rather have me curse or lie?)"

She stayed quiet

"Tuku ahau (excuse me)" I stood up from my seat and left the dinning table.
