Chapter 20: With Many Voices

"Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t!" Simon yelled. "Brothers, quick! Our father's breached containment!"

"I'm coming!" shouted the other two siblings.

The trio rushed towards the hole their father had busted through the concrete wall of their cell, praying that it would not be too late.

"Multiple specimens of SCP-939 have escaped containment. Evacuate the facility immediately. I repeat, evacuate the facility immediately."

Dr. Collingwood ran through the site, inwardly swearing at her luck. She was smack-dab in the middle of the building again and had narrowly avoided several of the 939s.

A voice called out to her from down a long hallway. "Molly! Over here!"

She stopped. Was that really Lawrence, or a 939 instance?

"Hurry! We don't have much time!"

Loud thumps, snarls, and the clacking of what seemed to be metal against tile made her turn around. A 939 instance was running full tilt straight at her.

Screw it. I don't have a choice.

She ran towards the voice, praying that it wasn't a trap, and burst into the room where Lawrence's voice had seemingly come from. The room was empty. Or so it seemed.

Something slammed into her from the side, knocking her to the ground and slamming her head into the floor. Her glasses were knocked off in the tussle.

When the jostling stopped, her back was pinned to the floor, making her look up at her assailant. It was a massive 939 instance, larger than any she'd ever seen. Its snout was bony and fleshless, skin stretched tight over bone, making its head resemble a red skull. Its body had a hulking, muscular frame, perfect for taking down all but the largest of prey. Across the creature's face was a wide, unnerving slasher smile.

It lowered its head until its nose was just half an inch from her collar and sniffed her skin. After it had done that it let out a cruel laugh and, to her shock, spoke in a deep, harsh, snarling voice.

"Finally, after so many years, I've found you."
