End? (Var 2 angst) ๐Ÿ–ค

"I-I..."

"You what?" He replied, raising an eyebrow in confusion

"I-I just want t-to tell you th-that I think you're one of the best people o-out there. I m-mean you still chose to be f-friends with m-me no matter w-what they said. S-so when pe-people say you're the mighty y-yaksha an-a-and that you're evil and a-all, I-I dont think so & so that's why I..."

A silence fell over the two, Hu Tao paralyzed from the embarrassment and Xiao pondering over what she was going to say.

Was it her "love"? So useless...

As they both sat silently, she felt a drop of water crash against her head, then another, till it had started raining heavily all the way throughout Liyue

"I-I ..." she mumbled out.

He couldn't as an adepti, could he? The path of a Yaksha could not be disrupted by a mere ignorant mortal.

"..."

Even those small, simple, nonexistent words led her back to the cruel reality of this world. Some are just created unequal. She was just a mere human, he was a worshipped adepti.

She stared into his eyes, oh how she loved them, staring into the shimmering endless abyss, he called eyes. His hidden treasures, sealed beneath the unknown gold. He was something else, something that quenched her undying thirst, the overflowing love and passion she had for him was too profuse, nothing could compare. Just a simple touch could ruin this moment, yet everything stayed still.... Just like that, the tides of her heart had shifted. The waves washed over one and other, touching the shore of her endless desire, she loved him... yet she could not. Humanity is evil, she thought to himself, so close then fading away, pulling me away from the impossible, ripping him out of my hands. Not all are created equal... and not all live on. His rough fingers intertwined with hers. Her dainty pale palms touching his hardened hands. He was so perfect, so beautiful in the moonlight. Moonrays graze his skin, creating an almost ethereal atmosphere of light. Even above the pallid twilight, nothing could take her eyes off him. Nothing. Just her, him, and the rest of the world and nothing, would change. Even the swaying trees paid no mind, their gnarled branches had turned into something else... Was it the light? Or simply her current state? Everything seemed so perfect, everything was so perfect... or was it? Reaching forth, she cupped his uneven face and stared right into his soul.

"I-I love you."

...

I just wished you could have said the same.
