Once I have everyone's attention, I look at Maggie and Beth. The girls nod and I start.

"Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

I have died everyday, waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more." I furrow my eyebrows as I look to Daryl, a questioning look on my face. He just shakes his head and shoo's me to keep going.

"Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything, take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath, every hour has come to this

One step closer

I have died everyday, waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed, I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

One step closer
One step closer

I have died everyday, waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed, I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more."

Once we finish, I play a few more songs that people randomly request around the circle before I grow too tired to play. I lay the guitar down and lay beside Belle, who's already asleep. I use my arm as a pillow before I slowly nod off.

I hear the fence rattling before I sit up with my knife in hand. I look around for immediate danger but I find none. I put my knife up and stand up before stretching. I look to the gate and notice Glenn there. I go to him and drape my arm over his shoulders.

"What's happening, pretty boy?" He laughs a little before putting his arm around my waist.

"Dreading killing all these walkers." I laugh a bit as he kills a walker, sending it to a pile of dead z's.

"Looks like you're going to finish the job before we even start." He shakes his head with a small smile.

"No, I'm sure there will be plenty more for us."

"Mom." I turn around and see Belle sitting up, a pained look on her face. I rush to her, but Daryl beat me to her.

"What's wrong?"

"It hurts." She moans out in pain. I take my bag and look through it. I grab a long sleeve shirt I have yet to wear and wrap it over her arm, making a makeshift sling.

"Better?" She moves it as well as she can.

"Kind of." I send her a small smile and give her a hug before a loud voice is heard.

"Wake up! We've got killing to do!" I roll my eyes at Rick. That isn't going to make anyone want to kill zombies. There's a few groans before everyone starts to wake up.

"You could have been nicer." I scold.

"How did you wake people up with your partner?" I smile a bit as I think of my old platoon.

"Ford would always be the mean one. He never made me be the bad guy. God I miss that man." Rick pats me on the shoulder.

"I'm not Ford. You've got next." I roll my eyes before turning to the small group ready to kill the walkers. I see Randell awkwardly standing to the side. I turn to Rick again, but he's already looking at me.

"He coming or staying?" He thinks for a second before shaking his head.

"I trust you but he's staying. He hasn't done much with a knife in the few months we've been on the road." I nod, knowing he's right. I jog to Randell and give him a small smile.

"How are you Mads?" I nod.

"Pretty good, and you?" He just shrugs.

"About the same."

"Would you mind watching the kids for me? I know they're getting older and are able to care for themselves now, but I don't want them getting into any trouble." He nods with a small smile.

"Anything for you." I give him a slight nod as thanks and jog back to the group.

"Ready?" I ask, tired of waiting already.

"Ready." A few say. Lori drafts herself to the gate before throwing it open. Once it's open, we're all killing walkers left and right.

"Circle!" Rick yells, causing everyone to join in a circle. I watch as Lori closes and latches the gate. After we kill about thirty walkers, we turn a corner to find walkers in riot gear. Maggie hits one with her crowbar and watches as it bounces back. She turns around with a crazed look.

"What do we do now?" I stay back a minute to figure out a plan. Before I get too far into my thoughts, I see T on the ground with a walker on top of him. I mentally curse before I quickly pull the walker off of him and watch as Maggie digs her crowbar into the bottom of the riot gear. She sends me a big smile, making me smile back. "Did you see that?" She exclaims, where I just nod and help T up. The guys do what Maggie had just figured out and before too long, all the walkers are dead.

"Ye see that?" Daryl asks, pointing to a walker. I send him a questioning look. "That's a civilian." I furrow my brows at him.

"There's a breach." Glenn says. I shake my head. There could have been nice people running the show here.

"We'll have to check the walls." Rick says, ready to do more today. Daryl sends me a look, knowing I'm not with them.

"What?" Everyone looks at me.

"We don't know there's a breach. The people who were in charge could have been nice and allowed people in."

"I don't think those gates have been opened since the outbreak." Rick says, wanting things to go his way. I sigh and shake my head.

"She could have been a family member visiting one of the prisoners. We can't take worst case scenarios right now."

"We can't think everything's okay either." There's a bit of annoyance in his voice, making me slightly mad. I'm just trying to keep some hope for the group. If we don't have this, we're back on the road and Lori can't do much more driving, nor can the gas in the cars. I shake my head again and push ahead of everyone.

"Let's go find the broken pieces of this prison then."  I stop at the door and ready my knife while I wait for Daryl to grab a hold of the door. Once he does, he looks at everyone to make sure we're all ready and pulls the door open. I file in first and notice there's no walkers, only two dead humans. No turn, no bite; just dead. I bet they died before the infection could take over.

"Cover every inch of this room, we can't leave with that door locked." Rick says as he points at a locked door. I follow his gaze and walk up a set of stairs. Once I get to the top, I notice Daryl watching me from below.

"Nice view?" I ask as I lean over the edge of the railing with my arms folded on top of each other. His face turns a bit pink before he scoffs it off and walks in a different direction. I shake my head with a smile as I turn toward the door once more. When I pull it open, a heavy set officer is fast to grab me. I feel my head hit the brick wall behind me before I can sink my knife into its head. Once I kill him, I throw him over the edge.

"You okay?" Maggie asks. That's when I notice everyone looking at me. I nod my head and suck a breath in.

"Yeah." I go in the office and see screens where the cameras would have been shown. I sit in the rolling chair and try to mess with the computers, but give up without a hope of electricity. I open a door and see two sets of keys. I place them on my hip before opening another. I do this with all the drawers and notice a booklet in the last one. 'Generator manual.' We're going to have lighting again? I just hope there's some fuel left. I grab it with a smile and stand out of the chair. When I turn, my heart drops.

"Oh my god! You should have saw your face!" Glenn yells as he laughs. I shove him and roll my eyes.

"You can't scare someone like that!" I exclaim. We walk down the stairs and I look at everyone with a big smile as I hold it to my chest with both hands. "We'll have an adventure soon!" T-Dog puts his arm around me and rubs it as he smiles.

"Good job, Maddog." I throw Rick a set of the keys and keep the other by my hip. Rick nods and opens the door before walking in.

"Be careful, we don't know what's in here." I say. I grab Daryl's arm and pull him aside before he goes in. He jumps at little, but calms down when we realizes it's me.

"What's wrong?"

"Want to go on a run with me when we let everyone in?" He furrows his eyes at me.

"Why tonight?"

"I want to get some things." He furrows his eyebrows. "A sling for Belle and hopefully some baby stuff for Lori." He nods and starts walking in. I grab his arm again and pull him toward me. "You in or not?" I feel his warm breath on my face and it takes everything in me not to kiss him. Stop thinking like that. His face inches a little closer and I'm stuck in the moment. Belle does see him as a dad so it wouldn't be that bad. I lean in a bit too and wait for his lips to meet mine.

"Mads!" I quickly back away from Daryl and watch as he does the same. I look and see Glenn coming around the gate. His eyes go wide before I go around Daryl and start after Glenn.

"Hey Mai!" I look at Daryl as I walk backwards. "I'm in." I nod with a small smile before jogging to catch up with Glenn.

"Did I interrupt something?" I punch him in the arm before passing everyone to another door.

"You always do." He sends me an innocent smile and I just shake my head with a laugh.
