"Mine yuh make me book drop downstairs enuh," I said to Zachary as I wiped my 13 pro-Max camera off.

He was throwing my mathematics book in the air and we were sitting beside the railing.

"Ih thing naah drop bredda," he replied.

Instead of answering him, I stopped cleaning the camera and looked back at the screen. I was going to make a TikTok.

Our school doesn't allow us to make TikTok in our school uniform, but we a leave after exams are finished.

Ebanks cyaa gimi no chat.

Well he can, but I'm intelligent and he adores me, so yeah, I'm going to do it.

"I'm ready," I told the students who were participating in the video.

"Me a go first," Kayla said coming to the front.

"How do you feel going into the Math Paper 1 exam this morning?" I asked her after I started recording.

"Me??" she pointed to herself. "Confident bad, mi ago handle it, Angle triangle sumn," she said with attitude and doing the hand movements.

I laughed and moved on to Daniel.

He pushed up his glasses and began speaking. "Well, I studied hard, and I feel like everything that we learned will come on the paper, so yeah."

I moved on to Danay next asking her the same question.

"How do I feel?" She replied. "First of all, I'm nervous, I hate multiple-choice questions and then again it's Math, and I'm not Einstein," she said dramatically.

"Danay Einstein," I laughed before pausing the video and moving on to Zachary.

He rubbed his hands together and smirked before rubbing his chin.

Him know him nice enuh.

"Zachary answer the question nuh," I urged him.

"Alright, I have zero confidence going into that Maths exam room, I'm a real-life dunce bat, don't mind me eloquently speaking, I'm positive I don't know a thing on that paper," he said.

"Mr Eloquent," I laughed then paused the video and handed my phone to him.

"Ready?" he asked and I nodded.

"How do you feel going into the Math Paper 1 exam this morning, Miss Deputy?" he asked.

"I feel confident going into the exam and I'm positive that I will do my best because I studied hard, plus we have an excellent teacher," I shrugged.

"One Pinky enuh," Zachary said as he stopped recording.

•••

After sitting in the exam room for one and a half hours, the invigilator finally announced, "All pencils down."

My pencil was already down and I just sat looking around the room.

She asked us to bring our papers to the front and collect our bags in the order we were sitting in.

As soon as I was outside I took my phone out of my bag and listen to the complaints from the students as they were debating about the paper.

It never that bad.

"Pinky come make we do the rest of the video mi have something fi say," Kayla said to me.

Mi know she angle that.

I took out my phone and went back on TikTok and selected continue editing.

"Gwaan," I told her.

"A you fi talk," she said.

Rhatid.

"This is Kayla after Maths paper 1, and what do you have to say?" I asked her.

"Me? Angle Triangle dah maths paper deh, mi Naah ask Christ! Hey, pop mi collar," she said and Zachary popped her collar for her.

Kayla is a Maths brain, if she didn't angle any other subjects I'm sure she angled maths and accounts.

It was now Zachary's turn.

"All I have to say is, a bare dunce people mi see rich and meech out, so yuh know Wah that mean already," he said walking off.

It was Daniel's turn and he scratched his head as he spoke.

"It was mid, it was mid, nothing too hard, I think I did well," he said.

"Alright," I laughed. "Come Danay."

Danay dragged her feet and came and stood in front of me with her arms folded.

She pouted before she began speaking, "Who invented multiple choice? Better make sure when Janene put me out, unuh can put mi up yer," her statement caused me to start laughing.

When it was my turn, she held my phone and recorded.

"I don't mean to brag, but mi did tell unuh say mi ago angle triangle dat," I said doing the hand movement for angle triangle. "Simple 1, 2 that."

I know my mom is looking down proud right now.

Sigh.

Danay passed me my phone after she finished recording and I took it from her saving the video to my drafts.

The invigilator began urging us to go home and get off the campus.

When we got downstairs and toward the main office, I realized there was a group of people standing in front of the main office.

"That look like mi aunty suh," I said to Kayla looking at the lady with her back slightly turned.

I couldn't exactly see her face, but she definitely looked like my sperm donor's good-body twin sister.

"The one from Ochi?" she asked looking at the person too.

"Yeah," I nodded staring at her.

As we were walking past them she turned around and our eyes met. I gasped and covered my mouth.

Mi aunty so hot?

She excused herself from the persons she was talking to and she came over to me engulfing me into a hug and squeezing me tightly.

When she pulled away, I smiled at her.

"Mi niece," she said excitedly.

"A wah you a do inah lash Aunty Andrea?" I asked her seeing that she had on lashes, not the strip ones, but the single ones.

"Brittania, I have a hot gyal daughter-in-law Yuh si," she bragged. "A she a put me on pan all the hot gyal and young people things them mawsa."

"Well you look good, 48 has nothing on you," I told her honestly.

"Period!" a wah mi aunty know bout.

"Unuh dash mi weh, especially the one Andre," she said.

She helped us out a lot after our mom was killed and our dad went to jail, but after we stopped living with our wicked granny and Andre could provide for us, we kind of drifted away.

"No sah, nothing like that," I reassured her.

"Okay ma'am, Wah yuh do today? Maths exam?" She asked.

"Yeah and me know mi angle it," I told her.

"Hey! I hope my students them pass, mi nuh know how fi unuh generation hate maths so," she said dramatically.

She's the principal of Ocho Rios High.

"A cause wi nuh want nothing hackle up wi brain," I laughed.

She smiled before asking, "So how mi nephew them, them alright?"

"Yeah them alright man," I told her.

"Alright then take care a Yuh self, and Yuh have me number, use it," she said.

"I will," I waved at her and she went back to the persons she was standing with before.

"Gyal Yuh aunty sexy Yuh fuck," Kayla said as we began walking.

"Battygyal," I laughed playfully.

"So what are we talking about today?" my therapist Olivia asked taking a sip from her Wendy's juice.

She's such a vibe for someone in their thirties. Whenever we have our sessions we don't just sit in her office, and talk, we go out and do stuff.

"I don't know, you tell me," I shrugged dipping a nugget into the sauce.

"Umm, let's talk about your new friend, who is she?" she asked.

"Danay, me and her used to go to the same high school before we came to Holland and sixth form," I told her.

"Unuh used to be friends at Westwood?" she asked and I shook my head.

Popping the nugget inside my mouth, I answered.

"No, just hi and bye, in a last year, we turn friends enuh, bout November, cause she did a par with some girl wah neva match her image."

"Okay," she nodded. "And how do you like your friendship so far?"

"She's nice, not as talkative as Kayla, but she's a reader so we have that in common," I explained. "She fi be me sister in law but she a play."

"You must really like her then," she smiled. "Andre or Dante?"

"Nuh must Dante," I told her.

"So why not Andre?" she asked with a light laugh.

"Cause Dre off limits," I shrugged.

"Okay next topic, the guy I saw you with, who's he?" she asked.

She had to ask that.

"When are you planning to have a baby?" I asked her.

"Yeah, don't change the topic, who was he?" she asked catching on to what I was trying to do.

"Girl," I laughed before sighing, "he was my friend."

"Was?" she asked.

"Yeah we aren't friends anymore," I replied stuffing my mouth with fries.

"Is he a friend like Zachary or something more?" she inquired.

"Something more, but I don't know how to explain it," I told her drinking my juice.

"Start from the beginning, I'm listening," she encouraged.

I started telling her about the first time I met him in the lane, and that time when I pushed him away then told him about my parents, how we became closer and I encouraged him to start a business.

I told her everything that happened up to the night in his car and the day after when he saw me and Zachary and the text message he sent me.

"So why were you mad about the phone call then if you're just friends?" she asked.

"Because even though we are friends, we do stuff that friends don't do, and he acts like a jealous boyfriend plus he was pursuing me and wanted to be with me," I told her.

"And how does that makes you feel, him pursuing you but still has interest elsewhere?" She asked, drinking from her water bottle.

I took a bite of my burger and chewed it before I answered.

"It makes me overthink a lot, and my overthinking will lead to depression and I'm not trying to go back down that road again," I told her shaking my head.

"Right, right, when was the last time you spoke to him?" She inquired.

"Three weeks ago," I said thinking about it.

"And you don't miss him?" She pried.

Should I?

"Honestly, I've been focused on studying to even think about it that much," I answered her.

She ate a few fries then she spoke, "Do you want to be with him, other than being friends?"

"I don't think my brothers would allow it, plus you know how I feel about men," I said to her.

I'm sorry but I'm not trying to end up like my mom and I could already tell Tyreek was aggressive.

I think I'll pass.

"But would you date him though, if any of that wasn't involved?"

"Maybe," I shrugged and she laughed.

"Why don't you tell him how you feel?" She asked.

I looked at her and shook my head.

"Yuh forget the part where Andre still Naah go allow that, and if we date we go affi a hide from my brother them?" I asked her.

"But you're 18, don't you think they will understand?" She asked me.

"In their eyes, I'll always be their little sister, so I don't know as yet," I replied to her.

•••

I was in my brother's car on my way back home after therapy.

Najeeriii's Goon blasted through the speakers and I bobbed my head not knowing all the lyrics.

Dre was singing the lyrics like he helped him to write the song.

Anytime mi ketch them anuh nothing normal.

My phone rang interrupting my thoughts, and I turned it over on my lap to see Tyeeka's name on the screen.

Turning down the music, I answered the call pressing the phone at my ears.

"Hello?" I answered.

Me and her have been talking a lot the past few weeks.

"Hey mi ago out tonight and mi did buck up pan Yuh tik tok and realize say Yuh can dress, Yuh cyaa come help me choose sumn fi wear, please?" she asked and I could hear Ajhanae in her background.

"Ummm, come where exactly?" I asked her.

"Mommy's house, at Hague Scheme," she answered.

"To help you choose an outfit to go out?" I asked her, just to make sure I heard right.

"Yes, Yuh busy?" she asked me.

"I'm not, but I'd hand to ask my brother and call you back," I told her.

Nuh want she hear when me a get shame.

"Alright ask him and call me back make me know," she said.

After she hung up, I turned to André.

"Mi can go help one a mi friend them choose sumn fi wear over her yard?" I asked him.

He glanced at me then back at the road, "Which friend?"

"Hold on, let me find a picture," I said going on my phone and her Instagram.

I went on her profile and found a picture showing it to him.

He looked at the picture and then back on the road since he was driving.

"A which gyal that?" he asked. "She look good."

Lmao.

Him nuh remember the time we saw them when we were at the Villa in St. Ann.

"Yeah that's her," I told him.

"Weh she live?" He asked.

"Uppa Scheme," I told him.

"Alright mi wi drop yuh," he said.

I wasn't expecting him to agree so quickly.

I dialed back Tyeeka's number to let her know that I was coming, and she agreed to meet me at the scheme gate then we will walk go up.

After that I turned up back the song and began scrolling on TikTok, I was using Andre's hotspot.

A video popped up on my for you page while I scrolled and I immediately saved the video then I went to WhatsApp blocking my brothers and the teachers at school from my status then I posted the video.

I'm being petty but it's the truth, I don't care.

•••

Andre just dropped me off at the scheme gate and now Tyeeka and are walking up to the house.

"A who drop yuh off?" She asked as we walked on the sidewalk.

"My brother," I answered. He said you look good by the way.

"Oh, think a did yuh boyfriend," she snickered.

Tyreek put yuh up to this?

"No sah," I shook my head.

In about 10 minutes, we were inside and away from the heat.

"Weh the baby deh?" I asked as she led me up to her room.

"She's sleeping," she replied.

She pushed the door open and I saw a sleeping Ajhanae laying in her crib.

Such a cutie.

"So what's the event?" I asked Tyeeka.

"It's like a Y2K-themed party," she said going on her phone and then showing me the poster.

"Okay the first thing we need is a mini-skirt," I told her.

She walked to the closet and came back with a black leather one and a pair of jeans one.

"Which one?" She held them both up.

"Depends. If yuh waah give off boujie girl vibe, yuh go with the jeans but if yuh want it fi be dominant yuh go with the black one," I told her.

She looked at the two of them demoting in her mind which to choose.

"Boujie," she said placing the Jean skirt in the bed.

I followed her back to the closet and selected a blouse. It was a white one with young thug on it and his hair was pink.

"Alright, what shoes now?" She asked.

"Do you by any chance have pink knee-high boots?" I asked her.

"Yeah, mi a come deh," she replied.

While she looked for the shoes, I took down her Pink Prada bag.

She found the shoes and we placed them and the bag on the bed then we went back to the closet.

For accessories, I choose pink shades for her plus a lot of silver jewelry, which will bring the outfit off.

When we were finished with the outfit, I helped her to tidy her closet then I was ready to go.

She was getting ready to follow me to go down but the sun is hot and I'm not walking so I had already texted Dante to come get me and I told her that.

We went downstairs to get water and she was telling me about when she got pregnant in the 12th grade.

The front door pushed open and I stopped laughing and looked toward the door just to make eye contact with Tyreek.

He was dressed in full polo from head to toe.

A waah next Dante this?

Andre woulda say a clown dem.

I averted my gaze and looked back at Tyeeka now feeling uncomfortable.

I should've just walked.

But no, the sun is too hot.

He came in and greeted his sister then he stood staring at me.

Him naav him own yard?

Wah him a do a him mother yard.

Mi cyaa bother enuh.

"Gimme a minute with her deh," he said to his sister.

She looked at me then back at him then she smiled getting up.

Set up?

"Brittney," he said coming close to me but I didn't look up at him.

If mi nuh feel a way bout nth else, mi feel away bout Wah him say inah the messages.

"Brittania?" He called. Damn! Not the full name.

Fold like paper!

This time I looked up at him waiting for him to continue.

He scratched his head and began saying something but he stuttered over his words.

"Wul on deh, mi a fawud," he said walking past me and going up the stairs.

Kmt.

A few minutes later, he came back down with a box in his hand and placed it in front of me.

It was a heart-shaped black box and I was curious to see what's inside it.

I opened the box and smiled when I saw all the different types of chocolate inside it.

Awe!

If you know me then you know that I love me some chocolate!

I stopped smiling not wanting him to know I liked it then I looked up at him.

"Is this your way of apologizing?" I asked him.

"Mi did supposed to apologize?" He asked raising a brow.

The audacity!

"Yes," I stated like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why?"

"Because you're a narcissist," I rolled my eyes and stared at him.

"Bredda," he sighed. "Mi deeven know Wah yuh vex with me fah."

"Not your brother," I corrected him. "And you're the one that had 'throat goat Ana' calling you."

"A you say you just waah be friends enuh Pinky," he stated.

Okay, we're on nickname terms now.

"Okay Choppa, and you agreed to it, so why were you pissed off when you saw me with my classmate, and had the audacity to even send me that message?" I asked.

"Of course, mi did ago vex when mi see yaa wul man hand, a yuh man mi waah be mi nuh waah be yuh friend," he shrugged.

"So why did you agree to it then?" I deadpanned.

Mi too young fi man a stress me enuh.

"Cause a that you say you want, and after the pree you show mi with yuh father and thing, mi just work with your flow," he answered.

"Oh," I mumbled looking down.

He walked up to me and tilted my head so I looked up at him.

"B, mi nuh waah be your friend, mi cyaa be your friend, me want more than that," he stared into my eye.

Eye contact makes me feel weird.

But he's so handsome, and tall and handsome again.

"I'm not sure if I can give you that," I told him honestly.

I'm afraid to go behind my brother's back, especially after what happened the other night.

I'm not good at lying and supposed Dante wasn't there to save the day, what would I have done if Andre had checked the cameras?

He leaned down and forcefully pressed his lips to mine and I kissed back with just as much force.

The kiss was full of frustration and desire, I closed my eyes and wrapped my hands around his neck pulling him closer.

He lifted me off the sofa and I wrapped my legs around him and tilted my neck over to give him more access when he started trailing kisses on my neck.

The notification sound on my phone went off causing us to pull away.

He placed me back on the ground and I looked at my phone screen to see a message from my brother saying that he was here.

"Me a leave now, my brother is here," I told him.

"Naah ansa me question?" He asked me going on his phone.

"I already told you I don't know," I told him looking down

"Wah yuh mean yuh nuh know? Yaa big Oman enuh so a cyaa yuh Bredda them yuh fraid a," he stated hissing his teeth.

Not answering because he was right, I focused on closing the chocolate box.

He lifted my chin so I could look at him. "Stop ramp with mi badness," he warned pecking my lips.

Which badness?

Kmt.

A car horn blew impatiently outside, and I heard Tyeeka's footsteps coming down the steps.

"Yuh Bredda come," she stated. "The security did call and mi tell him fi send him up."

"Alright later," I said to her and she thanked me for helping her.

I looked over at Tyreek who had his arms folded staring at me.

"Thanks," I said referring to the chocolate box.

Dante blew his horn again and I walked to the door spinning the lock open and giving Tyreek one last glance before I went through the door.

Dante drove his Lexus, and I walked to the car opening the passenger door and he opened his door getting out.

"Come drive, mi waah build waah weed," he said walking around to the passenger side.

I shook my head placing the box of chocolate on the back seat before I went to the driver's side.

I got in and kicked off my Crocs then adjusted the seat before starting the car.

"Yuh know Chops?" He asked when I was reversing.

Next thing mi leggo the steering and kill off the two a we.

"No, who name so?" I asked. Mi know Choppa mi nuh know Chops.

Not even Choppa mi nuh know, mi know Tyreek.

"Waah dawg wah mi used to go school with," he said crushing weed in his hand middle.

Thinking about it now, they're the same age plus Tyreek had told me what school he went to.

They went to the same high school.

Jesus peace.

"Oh, mi nuh know him, why yuh ask?" I asked him, driving off.

"Think a fi e dawg car mi just see ova dah yard deh," he shrugged carelessly.

Hehe!

"A yuh friend?" I asked him.

"Naah mi nuh rate them man deh," he made up his face fixing the weed on the wrizzla sheet.

Bombaat now.

"Your girl a come over yard Friday enuh," I said changing the topic.

"Who mi baby mother Danay?" He asked.

"Baby mother?" I laughed glancing at him.

"Yeah, soon," he chuckled.

"Hear how the bwoy waah turn mi fren inah baby mother," I laughed boisterously.

"Den nuh must," he laughed as well. "Yuh nuh waah turn aunty?"

"Aye don't mix mi yer," I told him.

Naav no form of broughtupsy.
