It was Monday. A new day begins.

It would be a good day for Alberu if not for the news he received when he got to the station.

As he walked away from the chief's office, he flashes a fake smile to his other co-workers.

He speeds walk to his office where his teammates were to announce the news.

He opened the slightly ajar door and closes it with a loud bang, suprising the people inside.

"Goodmorning! What news do you want to hear first? The bad news or the good news?" Alberu asked looking at the officers with a slightly annoyed smile.

A deafening silence ensued in the room. The startled officers look at each other with a questioning gaze.

Wondering why their captain looks irritating early in the morning.

Finally, one officer decided to break the silence.

"Of course, the good news first. Right guys?" Rosalyn spoke up, slightly eager to know what it is.

"Since Rosalyn wants the good news first, I'll tell it to you. The chief told us that we are having a week's break for solving the rape case. He praised us and encourage everyone to try their best to solve the other case we are working on which the higher-ups decided to postponed first."

"Eh?"

"Huh? Why postponed?"

"What the heck?"

A series of protests sounded in the office after Alberu shared half the news.

Alberu showed a small satisfied smile, happy to know that he is not the only one who does not want the case to be postponed for a week.

He clapped to catch their attention once again.

"Okay, guys I'm not finished yet. The bad news is, there would be a new team being transferred here to help us in the other ongoing case."

Alberu looked at his team’s faces.

There are a lot of different reactions. Some are frowning, shocked, deep in thought, and excited.

He slightly frowned when he saw an excited member.

‘This crazy bastard seemed to know something. ‘

“Clopeh, you seemed rather excited to know who they are? Might want to share it with us? “ Alberu raised his right eyebrow in question.

Clopeh just clasped his hands and looked at the people inside the office.

“I can feel it.
HAHAHAHAHHAAH. I can feel a legend would be created! “ Clopeh shouted in excitement. Pounding his fisted hands on his chest.

Everyone can see his joyous expression which made the others detest it.

Alberu clicked his tongue in response.

‘ Whatever. Chief did not even tell me who they are though. Tsk, such a hassle. ‘

“Alberu-nim, do you know who they are? “ Jack asked with a concerned expression on his face.

The others stared at him waiting for his response.

“I don’t know. Chief did not tell me who they are but I know what their team is called. They are called the Silver Shield or SS. “

Alberu heard a gasp when he finished speaking. He looked around trying to find the person who gasp.

Finally, his gaze met Eruhaben who is avoiding meeting his eyes.

Alberu faintly smile before it was gone in a blink. He walked towards where Eruhaben is seated.

Pat pat pat.

“Do you know something about them? “

Eruhaben let out a sigh and mumbled something in his breath.

“- unlucky bastard”

Alberu only caught the last few words Eruhaben said.

“Have you heard the rumors? Rumors of a terror attack? They say the SS was the team that stopped the attack leading to no casualties. Their operations are always on point and I must say scary. “

“Scary in a way what? “

Witira asked the question Alberu had in mind.

“It’s scary because their captain always can pinpoint where and who are the enemies. There was a time when they blow up a building because the captain got irritated with the suspect's crimes. “

“Do they have any weakness though? “

Hannah asked. A slight frown on her face. She looked at her brother and they had eye contact.

‘So troublesome’

That is what their gazes meant.

“Hmmmm, weakness? “

Eruhaben rubbed his chin.
Contemplating if he had ever heard anything about their weakness.

“I don’t know. “

“KEKEKEKEKKE, THEY MUST BE STRONG PEOPLE! KEKEKEKKEKE! I WILL FIGHT THEM WHEN THEY GOT HERE! “ Toonka clapped in excitement.

Alberu let out an audible sigh.

‘Who the heck they are? I can feel my neck getting cold. I felt something so malice.’

“Alright everyone, settle down. You can continue doing the things you needed to do. Rosalyn, please come to my office later.”

After Alberu told his piece, everyone nodded and scattered.

Only Rosalyn and Jack were left in the office.

Jack started to organize the files on his table while Rosalyn was doing something on her computer.

Alberu walked towards his office.

He sat down on his office chair and let out a long sigh.

‘So tired. ‘

He massages his temples to relieve some headaches.

Alberu put out his phone to call his Aunt Tasha.

“Aunt.”

“Yes, my dear nephew? Do you need anything? “

“Can you find some information about the Silver Shield team? I quite need it. “

“Oh, that would be kinda hard. Their files are classified information. Our hands cannot reach that. I’m sorry nephew, I want to help you but our abilities are still lacking. “

“Ah, no worries Aunt. Thank you though. “

“Okay okay, maybe we can collect information about the rumors? “

“Alright, that’s enough. Just send it to my email later Aunt. “

“Alright, nephew. “

Alberu ended the call and started to stare at the mountain of paperwork he needs to finish.

‘If I don’t move, would they just finish themselves? ‘

“Haaaa.”

Alberu rubbed his face with his hands in frustration. He heard a knock and started to fix his expression.

“Come in. “ He says with a smile on.

Rosalyn came in with files on her hands.

“Captain, these are the clues I summarized with our ongoing case. The missing person case. I can’t seem to know what is the suspect motive in kidnapping them though. They don’t have anything in common. “ Rosalyn stated in a displeased tone.

‘Oh, she seems disturbed by it. ‘

“Just collect all the clues you can gather. Maybe the SS can help us with that. Who knows. “ Alberu shrugged off and looked at the clues Rosalyn compiled.

“You can continue with your work. Thanks for this. “

“No worries captain! And by the way, don’t overwork yourself. I can see dark circles under your eyes. “

“Okay okay, I won’t now go. “ Alberu shoo Rosalyn away from his office.

Rosalyn just shook her head because she knows Alberu might overtime again.

‘I just hope the other captain can help Alberu with his workaholic habits. ‘ Rosalyn thought with a slight smile no one can see.

‘But I still need to know if they are good people.’ Rosalyn walked out of Alberu’s office and proceeded to finish off the things she needed to do.

While Alberu started to do his paperwork with something in mind.

At the same time, on the other side, a red-headed man was seated on his comfy office chair. He keeps sighing with a tired look on his face.

‘Aigoo, my slacker life.’

‘ I refused the position of an heir in my father’s company but look, I’m still stressing over this transfer.‘

“Young Master, what shall I reply to the chief?” Ron a butler, slash an assassin asked Cale with a benign smile.

Cale shivered slightly at the smile. Goosebumps rose on his arms. He rubbed it off.

‘Still scary’

“You know what to do with that. Just approve of it. And notify the others that we will transfer to another branch. Tell them to pack their things up because we’re moving next week. “ Cale tiredly said.

You can see the fatigue on his face.

“Yes, young master. I’ll do what you have ordered. “ Ron left Cale’s office.

‘The young master seemed to need warm lemonade. ‘ 

The thought lingered in Ron’s mind.

Cale looked out at the window of his office deep in thought.

‘Let’s just be a salted fish and push the responsibilities to the other captain. Yeah, I’ll do that. In this way, I can achieve my slacker life. ‘

Unknown to Cale, he would not achieve his most wanted slacker life but something else.

A roller coaster of emotions, cases, fighting off the evil organization and most importantly, he would learn to love his rival in the process.
