Chapter Thirty

It's eight o'clock on Friday night when Lisa receives a text from Jennie. It's not very detailed but that's not to say that it doesn't grab Lisa's attention.

From: Jennie Kimazing

Come round.

Lisa isn't entirely sure what that invitation entails but she's sure as hell taking Jennie up on it. Ever since Lisa last went round to Jennie's things between them have been strange. There have been soft brushes of hands under tables during lessons and secretive glances over lunch but there's been no move to make anything that happened public.

Lisa knows that that's not the most important thing, but that doesn't mean that she's not slightly hurt that Jennie is intent on keeping this a secret. And so Lisa is determined that the two of them need to sort this whole situation out before it gets seriously out of hand.

To: Jennie Kimazing

Why?

Half an hour later and Jennie still hasn't replied so Lisa decides that she might as well just head over there. It's not the shortest walk but Lisa manages it in a reasonable time, tugging her jacket closer to her body as the cold breeze surrounds her.

Lisa can hear the music before she even sees Jennie's house. It's a thumping rhythm and for a brief moment Lisa feels like the ground is shaking beneath her. She knows her knock won't be heard over the noise but she tries anyway. When no one replies, she pushes the door open cautiously to reveal the chaos inside.

Jennie is nowhere to be seen but the corridor is crowded. Sweaty bodies pressed uncomfortably close to one another. Most are just talking, some dancing, and Lisa can see a couple making out in the corner.

Making her way towards the kitchen, Lisa keeps an eye out for Jennie. Already wanting to kill the girl for luring her here. Parties are not Lisa's thing, not that she's ever been to one before. But she can't imagine that it's a place she'll fit in, she's never been the most outgoing person ever and people being drunk can't help that situation.

It's Irene that Lisa spots first, she's desperately trying to stop someone from doing body shots on the kitchen counter.

"Hey Irene," Lisa says.

She looks up briefly when she hears Lisa's voice before looking back down and then doing a double take.

"Lisa?" She says, as if she's not sure it's really her. "Don't say you were in on this too?"

"In on this?"

"I got home from work ten minutes ago to find everyone crowded in the house, I'm going to kill Jennie when I find her."

"So I'm guessing you don't know where she is?"

"If I did then you'd be looking for a dead body."

Lisa lets out a nervous laugh.

"Well I'm gonna go find her," Lisa says, starting to back away.

"Tell her I'm looking for her."

"Will do," Lisa calls over her shoulder.

And so the search continues. Lisa is forced to push through throngs of people before she spots Jennie. The girl is stood on a table downing a row of shots as people stand and watch. Lisa isn't sure what's up but she's sure it can't be good.

Lisa isn't sure what to do. There's a possibility that Jennie wasn't even the one who texted her, and that scares Lisa more than it probably should.

"Jennie."

All it takes is the sound of Lisa's voice to make Jennie's head whip round in shock. She cocks her head to the side and stares for a few moments before hopping down off the table and making her way towards Lisa.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"I was worried you weren't coming."

To Lisa's relief Jennie's speech isn't that slurred just yet and so Lisa can actually understand what she's saying.

"What's with the party?"

"I wanted to have some fun."

"Irene's pissed."

"She'll get over it."

Lisa is taken aback by that. She knows how much Jennie loves her sister. She knows this isn't how Jennie usually acts and there's definitely something up with her tonight, something Lisa can't really put her finger on.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"God mum I'm fine, come grab a drink."

"I'm fine thanks."

"Why are you so uptight?"

"I just don't feel like drinking."

Jennie cocks an eyebrow, places her drink on the table she's just stepped off of and tugs Lisa into the corner of the room.

"So what do you feel like doing?"

Their bodies are pressed so close that Lisa can feel Jennie's breath fan across her face. Lisa inhales sharply; she may have pictured situations similar to this, but definitely not quite like this.

"I don't know," Lisa replies breathlessly.

"Well I have an idea."

Lisa feels Jennie's fingers glide across her cheek. Feels the girl press her lips against her neck. Lisa is ever so aware of the people close by. She knows that they're out of the way; she knows that they're in the dark, but that doesn't mean that people won't see.

"Jennie."

Jennie removes her lips and stares at Lisa in confusion.

"People might see," Lisa says.

Of course Lisa doesn't care about that, and what she really wants Jennie to say is that she doesn't care too.

"Well we can go to my room then," Jennie replies.

Instantly the distance between them widens and Lisa feels her heart sink slightly. Jennie loosely wraps a hand around Lisa's wrist and guides her up the stairs past everyone else. Lisa notices the way that Jennie checks to see that nobody is watching, as if she forgot all about the others until Lisa pointed them out.

They make their way up the stairs quickly and as soon as Jennie manages to push the door open and Lisa is through, the door is slammed closed and Lisa finds herself being pushed down on the bed.

Her fingers make their way into Jennie's hair and the moan that leaves Jennie's mouth at the gesture makes Lisa want to tug on it all day long. Lisa isn't entirely sure what's happening, but she definitely doesn't mind it.

Jennie can feel her skin brush against Lisa's, can feel the other girl's warm body even through all these layers of clothing. Jennie allows her lips to trail up Lisa's neck, occasionally leaving small reminders of the night's events. And Jennie can't help the small moans that she emits every time Lisa tugs on her locks of hair.

Her arms are laid either side of Lisa's head, propping herself up so that she's hovering over the other girl. Jennie is surprised to find that this isn't much different than anything she's done before, except this time it's Lisa lying beneath her rather than some random boy and that only makes Jennie hurry up with her movements until she finally decides that it's time for her to lay her lips on top of Lisa's.

The kiss is fiery, passionate. A culmination of everything that Jennie has been keeping trapped inside. Jennie isn't sure what it is, but right now she knows this is what she wants, needs. It's like there's something inside of her telling her that if she doesn't do this now then she might not get another chance.

Of course her brain is fogged slightly by the alcohol, although Jennie hasn't had that much to drink. And deep down there's some confusion as to whether it's Jennie or the alcohol that wants this but right now Jennie is content to just press her lips against Lisa's once again. To feel the other girl writhing beneath her.

Jennie manages to balance herself on one arm and lets her other hand move slowly downwards. Let her fingers tug urgently on Lisa's shirt, pulling the other girl up towards her.

Her tongue slips inside Lisa's mouth and they continue for a few moments before Jennie pulls back.

Lisa looks taken aback by Jennie's sudden desire to do this but she looks happy none the less. Jennie smiles lazily down at her.

"So do you have any idea what you want to do now?" She asks teasingly, her voice slow.

She watches as Lisa swallows, resists the urge to kiss her silly all over again. Instead Jennie does the one thing she knows will drive Lisa crazy. Raises her hand to brush her hair back and tugs her lip between her teeth. Jennie knows that she doesn't imagine the way that Lisa's hips raise upwards slightly at that moment.

"I've got a few thoughts."

"Care to share?"

"Or y'know I could just show you."

Lisa leans upwards and raises her hands to pull Jennie closer but Jennie moves herself away.

"Let me show you how it's done," Jennie murmurs.

She presses a kiss to the corner of Lisa's lips, so reminiscent of that first day in the park. And casually runs her hand up Lisa's arm.

Then their lips are being acquainted once again, this time sweeter, softer but somehow the urgency manages to remain. Lisa tastes of mint and lemonade, and soon that's all Jennie's senses can detect.

She finds her hand trailing to where Lisa's shirt is starting to ride up and Jennie's fingers trail underneath it, tracing patters onto Lisa's toned stomach as the kiss deepens. And their hips are pressed closer together once again.

Jennie removes her lips from Lisa's before leaning over so they hover over Lisa's ear.

"I think we should maybe get rid of this," she says breathlessly, tugging on Lisa's shirt.

Lisa looks back in surprise.

"Only if you're getting rid of yours too."

"Deal."

Swiftly Jennie pulls Lisa's t-shirt over her head and throws it onto the floor, leaving Lisa with her white sports bra, before beginning to take off her crop top.

As soon as Jennie's shirt joins Lisa's on the floor, the pair's bodies are pressed together once again. This time Lisa has moved to a sitting position with Jennie straddling her. Jennie can't help the way that her hips buck closer to Lisa's as they kiss. Can feel the way that Lisa is grinding right back. And Jennie can't help the way that her hands are running all over Lisa's chest, up to her shoulders so that she can tug Lisa somehow closer. Jennie feels that the only way they can ever be close enough is if their bodies merge entirely.

"I don't think this is the sort of thing that best friends do," Lisa whispers as Jennie pulls away to take a glance at Lisa.

"Screw best friends."

"Is that your life motto or something?"

Jennie finds it strange that the two of them can go from kissing to joking around in under a minute, she's never had anything like that with someone before but she's finding that she quite likes it.

"Nah," Jennie murmurs against Lisa's lips, "after all me and Chahee never did anything like this."

"I think she would be the definition of a hypocrite if you did," Lisa points out.

Jennie can't believe Lisa is really talking about things like that at a time like this and so she raises her eyebrows and pouts.

"So are you going to shut up and let me kiss you or not?"

Lisa cocks her head as if she's thinking about it and Jennie's lets out a groan of frustration. Impatient she gives up on waiting for Lisa to respond and so just wraps her arms around the back of Lisa's neck and pulls the two of them together once again. Their lips move together in sync, bodies pressed so tightly together Jennie's not sure that anything could separate them.

And maybe this isn't the smartest idea Jennie has ever had. And maybe the party was an even stupider one. But Lisa always seems to know what to do to make Jennie feel better. And Jennie is just glad that Lisa has shut up now.
