" If one wants to find true happiness, they must simply... let go." - Anonymous

Frosty air blasted through the London train station on a cold winter morning. It was the middle of january, and patches of decieving ice littered the cement floor of the waiting platforms near the tracks. Other than a few stragglers waiting to board the next train to lord knows where, the place was virtually, empty.

But if one were to inspect the individuals at the station more closely, they would see two figures imparticular that stuck out like a pair of sore thumbs.

Sebastian Michaelis, and his young master, Ciel Phantomhive, who had just reached the age of thirteen, were waiting patiently for the next train to arrive. Though on this chilly morning, neither would be leaving the frosty air of London behind for a warmer, drier destination.

In fact, they were not even going to leave the train station for somewhere, perhaps even more artic than this station.

No, these two were waiting for someone.

Ciel watched his breath turn white and visible in the frosty air. He and Sebastian had been waiting at the station for over an hour. Appearantly, the train their guest was on was slightly late, and would finally be arriving in the next 10 to 15 minutes.

'If I hadn't agreed to take in the stupid child, I wouldn't be here.'

He thought in annoyance. The whole idea of having another person his age in his manor for the next year was a frightful thought. He could deal with his fiance' Elizabeth appearing occasionally out of the blue, but a girl he had never met for a full year? He sighed, Why had he even agreed to the idea in the first place?

He let his thoughts shift back to the letter he had recieved from America that had started this whole troublesome ordeal.

"Young master, there appears to be a rather personal letter addressed to you in the mail. Would you like to see it?"

Ciel glared at Sebastian, "I've only just had breakfast and you're already shoving things at me?" he grumbled to himself. Sometimes, he wished he had a little more time in the mornings to himself, but sadly, it was impossible with the amount of work that had to be done.

"Fine." he said bluntly, "Where's it from?"

"It appears that it is from America." Sebastian said as he handed him a slightly crumpled envelope that indeed appeared to be from America.

Ciel sighed and opened the letter, it was probably from some buisness man who wanted him to make an investment.

Oh, how wrong he was.

As Ciel began to read the letter, a bad feeling began to settle in his stomach.

To Ciel Phantomhive, Earl of the late Phantomhive's manor,

Ciel, you may not remember us, as it has been so long since you last saw us. I am Mr. Rupert A. Thomas, an old friend of your late Mother and Father. You must be incredibly confused, so, I will enlighten you.

Back when your Mother and Father had just been engaged, your Father made an investment in a gold mine I owned in America, which, as you probably guessed, is where I live. Since it was an early investment, with little to no success, he agreed that the payment would be decided if and when we struck gold.

Recently, we uncovered a large amount of gold, and, even though your Mother and Father are deceased, I thought it would most please you if I informed you of our deal, and that we can still work something out, and that I still hold a contract stating of your investment.

Now, before you get too worked up, I am not asking for land or money of any type. I already have as much as I need on this gorgeous American soil. The thing I ask you to do is not much, considering what you're getting out of the deal, so I suggest you think about it.

Here is my one request in exchange for an enormous amount of gold:

I have a 13 year old daughter, her name is Evangeline. She is very dear to my heart, and I love her more than anything. Sadly, I believe that since her Mother died giving birth and she has been raised the majority of her life outside the coalmines, she has not been gifted the proper airs of a lady.

I've heard that the women in England are very civilized and ladylike, and I want my daughter to be able to find a husband eventually. I was wondering, if it was possible to have her travel to your manor, live there for a year or so, and maybe learn to be a lady?

Those are my conditions, and I would be greatly relieved if you accepted. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerly,

Rupert A. Thomas

If you were listening properly to our two friends current location, you can guess what Ciel (reluctantly) decided to do.

And, with that information in your mind, you will realize what is going on and why Ciel Phantomhive, Earl of Phantomhive manor, was in a dirty, criminal filled train station (Well, it really wasn't that criminal filled, but what's a good story without a few theatrical enhancements?)

Now, we should probably continue with our story...

Ciel sighed softly, "Sebastian, how much longer are we going to be forced to wait?"

Sebastian gave him a regretful look, "I'm afraid there really is no way of telling, as I can not predict what time the train will arrive. I am terribly sorry, Young Master."  Then, as though (Speak of the devil, correct? How ironic...) to prove him sorely wrong, the sound of a rumbling train echoed not far off in the distance.

Sebastian smirked, "My mistake, Young Master, it appears we do not have much longer to wait." Ciel let out a breath of relief, he would only have to see this brat once, then he would leave her in the hands of the servants.

The train then rolled up and the two men (though not both humans) readied themselves for the passenger that would soon emerge and leave with them. The train opened its doors, and the passengers began to flood out, and Sebastian and Ciel began to look for the girl they would be picking up.

Women came bustling out with their gaggles of children and their muttering husbands that were forced to carry all of  their suitcases, buiseness men in their nice clothing walked out with their leather brief cases, and a few richer looking families with sevants scurrying behind them exited the train as well... but no young girls around the age of 13.

The two began to wonder if the girl was even on the train.

Finally, the last passenger left the train, and was only a scrawny young boy with a leather satchel. He wore brown overalls that had been rolled up to his knees, wore black combat boots that looked a little too big, and a hat that hid his face from everyone. He looked around the station, and from what Ciel could see, he seemed a little confused. Then, he saw Sebastian and Ciel, and proceeded to walk over to them.

Sebastian looked at Ciel, "Perhaps he knows what happened to our guest? Should we ask him?"

Ciel nodded, "No harm in doing so, I suppose."

The boy walked up to them, and Ciel held up a hand, "Before you say anything, boy, I just want to know if you have seen a  girl about your age leave your train?"

The boy looked at them in confusion for a moment, then a grin spread across his face, which, Ciel noticed, was very smooth and feminine. The boy smirked and pulled off his hat, and long, silky, shimmering pink hair tumbled down to his, erm, her waist.

Ciel's mouth dropped open, he couldn't help it, not only had this girl (who he assumed was their guest they were supposed to pick up) fooled them into believing she was a boy, and not only was she wearing boy's clothes, she was incredibly beautiful.

Normally Ciel Phantomhive would never admire a girl, but she was stunning.

Her pink hair was the shade of a dark pink rose, her eyes were a cyan blue with hints of gold, she had pale skin, and the look to her, the way she stood, the spark in her eyes, she was not like any girl he had ever seen.

She possessed none of his fiance' Lizzie's cuteness, but had a rather impish look to her. She was truly, not a regualar 13 year old.

But one must never judge a book by it's cover, and Ciel, though he thought the girl was pretty, had no intention of judging her by her looks.

The girl grinned like a child caught in the act of something she wasn't supposed to do, but intending to still try and get away with it.

"You should close your mouth, you'll get something on your tounge you wouldn't want." Ciel promptly shut his gaping maw. "In the coal mines back in America, if you kept your mouth open too long, you would choke on gases and coal dust." she said helpfully.

Ciel glared at her angrily, such insolence for a lady! (Well, technically, she wasn't really a  lady, as her father stated)

"I really fooled you guys, didn't I? I didn't expect this to trick you, since I thought my Dad had probably mentioned my habit of wearing boy's clothes, but appearantly not!" she said grinning from ear to ear. "He says I should practice wearing dresses, but how the hell am I supposed to play in the river, or do chores, of work in the coal mines in a dress?!"

This time, both Ciel and Sebastian's mouths dropped open, this was no way for a lady to speak!

"You dress like a boy?" Ciel said disbelievingly, 'and a poor boy at that', he noted.

She shrugged, "And you look like a girl!" she said while pointing at Ciel.

Ciel choked back a very much needed insult, that was it, he definetly did not like this girl's attitude. Before she could say anything else though, Sebastian interfered, "Shall we depart, Lady Evangeline? It's high time we get back to the manor, for it's..." he looked at his watch, "11:30, and I must be back in time to prepare lunch."

Ciel silently thanked Sebastian for disracting the girl.

Evangeline nodded boredly, "Sure, I don't give a shit. And you can call me Vangie, I simply detest the name Evangeline... or, you could call me George, I rather like that name."

Ciel could not believe his ears, did she honestly think she would get any suitors with that language, and that attitude?"

Sebastian ignored her rude language, and pointed towards the direction of the carridge, "Then let us depart."

He began to walk to the carridge, and Evangeline matched her stride with Ciel's... after she took her combat boots and socks off and strung them over her neck.

Ciel raised an eyebrow in disbelief as she walked perfectly the same over the snow and ice.

"May I ask what in the world you are doing?!"

She gave him an annoyed look, "What does it look like I'm doing? I'm taking my shoes off! They're too stuffy! I can't feel the snow beneath me if I wear shoes!"

Ciel muttered under his breath, but said nothing to her.

She then began to sing an absolutely horrendous tune:

There's a place in France!

Where the naked ladies dance!

And the men run round!

With their _____'s* hanging down!

*(ommited for your innocence, if you have any)

Ciel let out a large sigh....

It was going to be a long year.
