Chapter 46

'Douma-san! Look at all those humans… They look like ants from up here. Really lights up how meaningless they all actually are.'

Enmu and Douma were sitting in the cabin of a ferris wheel, high up in the clouds above an amusement park, looking down on everything.

Douma had spent the last days locked in his apartment, grieving over the loss of Shinobu. But now, he was ready to leave that behind and move on. He wanted to live life again, and spending time with his best friend made him feel more alive than anything else.

Unfortunately, the ferris ride was over soon, and they had to get off the wheel.

'Not better than a train ride', Enmu voiced his thoughts, 'but the view was indeed amazing.'

Douma nodded. 'Indeed. Though, unlike a train, the ferris wheel always arrives on time. You know, because it, well– never leaves.'

Enmu chuckled, but then his chuckle turned into a scoff. 'Do you think that's the trains' fault? Trains are magnificent creatures! If they don't arrive on time, that is merely the humans' fault who drive them.'

Douma put up his hands in defense. 'Of course. I didn't mean to insult the principles of trainkind. But Enmu, my dear, may I ask what exactly you like so much about trains? Just out of mere curiosity. Tell me everything.'

Enmu inhaled and winked at Douma. 'You really want me to tell you everything? Then, so be it~'

So, Enmu started rambling. He described everything he liked about trains in great detail, and it truly was a lot. Douma mostly didn't understand anything and just hummed in agreement, but he didn't mind that at all. He used the time to admire Enmu's features from the side; the way his hair danced in the soft breeze, the way his coat fit his slenderly built frame perfectly…

And his voice. His soft, whiny voice sounded so calm and beautiful when he talked about the things he loved… Which was actually the main reason why Douma had asked him this question.

Soon, they came to a food stand, and as they were both hungry, they decided to eat there.

'This time, I'm treating you to a meal', Douma declared, as he let Enmu choose his food.

'I hope this will not be the last time…~', Enmu uttered, and Douma shook his head. 'It's not. After this, I'll take you out as many times as you'd like. Since, I finally have money now.'

As they ate, they walked up to a high platform, from which one could see the whole city skyline.

'The sun is setting', Douma realized. 'Maybe we should head home now.'

'Yeah.', Enmu replied. 'But first, let me do something really quickly',

He took out his camera, and started shooting pictures, but all from an angle where Douma was obviously in the frame.

'What the heck are you doing–', Douma asked, just to receive an all innocent smile from his friend.

'I'm taking pictures of the sunset, and the beautiful scenery!'

Douma smirked playfully at him. 'I know I'm beautiful~ But if you wanted a picture of me so bad, you could have just asked me.'

He walked up to Enmu, hugged him from behind, and while his friend was blushing intensely, Douma stole the camera from his hands.

'Hey! Give it back–', Enmu yelled, but it was too late. Douma was already making his escape from the platform.

'Come and get it~', he teased, while looking through the photos in the gallery of Enmu's camera. The most recent ones were indeed all of him, obviously.

'Wow, you are truly great at finding good angles!', Douma told his friend, who was still chasing him breathlessly, not being able to catch up because of Douma's long legs. 'I look hot in every single one of those.'

'Shut the fuck up!', Enmu yelled at him in embarrassment.

Douma finally decided to leave it, and stood still, waiting for Enmu to catch up, but not without shooting a few pics of him running.

'Will you fucking stop it–', Enmu anticipated when he finally arrived and reached out for the camera.

'Fine, fine.', Douma responded reluctantly and handed it out to him.

Enmu wanted to move away, but Douma stopped him and pulled him into a hug, pressing him tightly against his chest.

'I am so glad we met, my dear Enmu-san.', Douma whispered into his ear, and he had never meant anything more than this.

Enmu sighed and brushed through his friend's hair. 'You are a menace Douma. But that's why I love you.'
