Chapter 2

'You have a WHAT!?'

That was basically the reaction that Douma received from everyone when he told his friends he had a boyfriend now. When he confessed that the unlucky one was Enmu, Kokushibo and Nakime just straight up left, assuming he was pulling some sort of prank on them. Everyone except Muzan (obviously) was shocked.

'I didn't know you were gay, man.' Gyutaro seemed surprised.

'I'm bi, actually', Douma specified.

That wasn't even a lie. He did like men as well, he just preferred women.

Gyokko however, seemed more negatively surprised: 'There's NO WAY he gets a boyfriend before I do!'

He was that one outwardly gay guy, and the sole reason why homophobia was even a thing at their school, as he was a rather… unpleasant representative of the LGBTQ+ community.

Arrogant as he was, he often used the excuse of 'It's just because I'm gay isn't it!?' as a way to accuse people of unjustly mistreating him, when in reality, people didn't hate him because he was gay, but because he was arrogant, prideful and annoying.

Douma didn't really share that opinion, or at utmost, he didn't care. Gyokko was a fine friend, and sometimes fun to hang out with. As for his friend's emphasis on his homosexuality, he didn't mind and wasn't scared that he might have a secret crush on him, since it was obvious who Gyokko really liked.

His best friend Hantengu, the theatre kid with anxiety – who obviously liked him back since there was no other logical explanation for his ability to listen to Gyokko's rants 24/7 – was the only thing he talked about, besides his art, fish and himself obviously.

At any rate, both of them left wordlessly since Gyokko was obviously pissed. Douma wanted to tell him that there was nothing to be jealous about, but he restrained himself.

'Well, congratulations then, I guess!', that was Daki's reaction.

She was such a mess of a girl that Douma could never tell if she was being genuine, or there was a hidden resentment in her voice.

Knowing her, she could pull out that she had secretly liked him this whole time right the next Moment! Whether that would be an honest confession or just a tool to cause drama, no one would know. The only thing that was stopping her from getting into fights was her brother, though he sometimes also was the sole reason why both even got into trouble in the first place.

The reaction that mattered to – and also irritated – Douma the most was Akaza's, his supposed 'best friend's'. He stared at Douma, still blinking and processing what had been said.

'I didn't think someone would agree to date you-', he finally uttered.

Then suddenly, his expression brightened.

'Wait. Does that mean you'll finally stop harassing that Kocho girl and all the other girls!? Then I'm happy!'

With that, he turned around and strutted away as well.

'Thanks!', Douma called after his friend. 'But you could still be a little bit nicer, Akaza-dono!'

It was always like that. For some reason, Akaza seemed to hate him. Normally, he didn't really mind since he loved teasing him, but today, Douma was in a bad mood already.

The worst part about all of this was that throughout the whole conversation, Muzan was watching him like a hawk, making sure he didn't say anything wrong. Goddamnit, just tell them about it yourself then, Douma thought to himself.

'Wait!', Daki suddenly exclaimed. 'Muzan-sama, you haven't said anything yet! That Enmu guy… wasn't he your little… uh, pet? Is that the reason why you're so quiet? Don't you disapprove of this relationship?'

Muzan mustered all of them in disgust. 'I do not care about this… thing. He can date who he wants to date as long as he stays the fuck away from me.'

Everyone laughed at that, especially Daki. 'True. And I thought you'd be jealous!'

Suddenly, all of Daki, Gyutaro and Muzan started moving towards the school building.

'Wait- why is everyone just leaving today?', Douma asked himself, standing there in confusion.

'Because class is starting in five minutes, you pea-brained idiot!', Daki called out. 'And if my brother and I get another entry into the class book, we'll get into detention again!'

'Oh- makes sense', Douma grabbed his things and made his way to follow them.
