Everybody was there, in the headquarters. Just you, Ryuzaki, and the task force, of course. But Light wasn't there, he was still in school.

As you sat at a table with Ryuzaki, he was sorting bags out all over the table. You watch him as he mumbled to himself
"Hair..."
"Mr. Yagami..." He asked which had gotten his attention already

"If I die within the next few days, your son is Kira." He said so carelessly like it wasn't a big deal. You looked up at him with widened eyes but he didn't notice
"Another one here..." he mumbled as he placed the small bag down and grabbed another one

Soichiro gasped and got up, frankly exclaiming
"What did you just say, Ryuzaki?!"

"Exactly! What're you talking about anyway?" Matsuda asks

"If anything happens to me, i'm counting on Watari to make himself available to you."
He responds, holding a bag up to the light and placing it back on the table and continuing to mumble to himself

"Ryuzaki you said he was almost cleared and now this?!" Soichiro snapped back
"How much do you suspect my son?"

Ryuzaki held up another bag
"The truth is I don't even know what to think anymore..."
He placed it down and picked up another one
"... And i've never really ever been in a situation like this before.."

You proceed to death glare him as he says this
"If Kira and the second Kira are working together right now, things aren't looking good for me."

"R-Ryuzaki..What do you mean?"
You asked him as calmly as possible, though he was freaking you out

He looked at you, his gaze softening at the sight of yours
"It's okay..."

As he picked up his tea cup, he proceeded to speak
"Given that.. I may not be thinking as clearly as I usually do, so I could be wrong.."
He sipped his tea as you feel his foot wrap around your leg. Of course nobody could see, but he was trying to be affectionate and that made you blush..

"Maybe I still consider him a suspect because we don't have anyone else...but still. If I do happen to be killed soon, please assume that your son is Kira."

It was kind of a different day, yet exciting. Ryuzaki took you back to To-Oh with him to hang out with Light again. You rarely got to go out in public with him and you were happy to be there.

"So we're just going to sit here until you see him..?" You asked

"Precisely." he responded with his full attention on some book

"Ryuzaki, what're you reading?"
You look at the content of the pages and almost choke on your own oxygen. He was still reading that erotica from the other day. He seemed quite intrigued by it's content

"Would you perhaps like to read it with me?" Ryuzaki smiled, leaning his head on your shoulder. Ryuzaki wasn't scared to show affection in public, and that made your heart beat just a little more.

You shook your head, laughing
"N-No!"

You both laughed as you snuggled your face into his fluffy hair, hugging his close

At this moment, you saw Light walking with some girl not that far away from you guys on the bench

"Ryuzaki, there's Light over there."

He turns around and frowns
"Disappointing.." he mumbles as he gets off of you
"Just act like you're doing your job."

You shake your head, trying not to laugh as Ryuzaki pretends to read his horrible book

Soon enough Light makes his way over and Ryuzaki just acted like he didn't notice

But before he could, Light saw him first and stopped with a blank stare.

Ryuzaki looked up and smiled with pure fake excitement
"Oh! Hey Light!" He smiled and waved enthusiastically, then his expression randomly went blank along with his tone
"How's it going."

Light then turned to the girl
"Could we continue this later?.. I need a moment alone with him."

"Okay.." She said as Light walked over to you both

"I hope she's not upset." Ryuzaki said again in a sarcastic tone

"Never mind that, is it okay to be here? Didn't you say you were afraid to appear in public as well?" Light whispered

"Yeah, I did. But as long that you're not Kira, I should be safe. The fact is you're the only one who knows me as well."
Light raised an eyebrow
"The unlikely event that I die in the next few days, i've instructed your father and everyone else at the headquarters to assume that you are Kira."

Light paused, his eyes twitching

"Besides" Ryuzaki continued without a bother.
"You told me yourself you missed having us around at school, so I figured why not come back for a little..change of pace."
He placed his hand on your shoulder with a smile
"As long as it doesn't kill me.." He mumbled those few words
"College is a lot of fun." He smiled yet again

Light chuckled
"I have to admit, without you guys around, intelligent conversation is hard to come by."

Ryuzaki laughed
"Well, luckily Kiyomi is there to fill the void."

Kiyomi must have been that girl...

Light chuckled again as he shook his head
"Something like that."
He then looked over to you
"Ritsuko, how are you? I'm sure having him around all the time must get annoying, huh?"
He said, referring to Ryuzaki

"Oh, of course."
You laughed at his small joke, Ryuzaki poking your side

But at that moment, Ryuzaki smelled something familiar and stood up
"Hey, do you wanna get some cake with me and Ritsuko in the cafeteria?"
He sounded so excited over the sweet treat, how adorable...

"Uh.. yeah, sure. I have a break now anyway."

"That's perfect. I'm kind of craving shortcake right now."
He looked over to you and smirked as you all were walking
You blushed

By shortcake, he was referring to you because you were shorter than him and sweeter than any cake he's ever had

"Well.. let's hope they have it."
Right after Light finished speaking, a high pitched voice from behind you yelled

"Light! There you are!"

A girl, probably about your age, ran towards Light with open arms. Light himself seemed to be a bit annoyed though he was hiding it.

"I had a photoshoot nearby so I thought i'd come to see you!"
She was very pretty, but not so... I don't know... smart?..

"Oh-! These must be friends of yours!" She walked up to you and Ryuzaki who was staring at her, intrigued.
"He looks so different.. unique..."
She then turned towards you
"You're so pretty! I love your hair!"

"O-Oh.. thank you.."
You nervously respond, hiding behind Ryuzaki

She smiled
"Hi there! I'm Light's girlfriend, Misa Amane. Nice to meet you two!"

Ryuzaki stood there, starstruck. Who exactly was this woman?

"You too! I'm Ritsuko."

"I'm Hideki Ryuga." He responded, his gaze not once leaving hers as you raised an eyebrow

"Hideki Ryu-"

"Yeah!" Light said, walking in front of Misa
"He has the exact same first and last name of that famous idol. Pretty bizarre, huh?"

As Misa stood confused, Ryuzaki still stared at her. He was chuckling creepily with his finger hanging from his mouth, his eyes wide. It was kind of creepy, to be honest.

"Ryuzaki, what's wrong?" You ask

He placed his hand on your shoulder, rubbing it with his thumb, still chuckling to himself

In the midst of this awkward silence, Ryuzaki finally spoke up

"Light... you're a lucky guy."

You raised your eyebrows and glared at Ryuzaki

"I have been a huge fan of yours since the August issue of 18."

You almost choke

"Really?! That's so sweet of you!"
She exclaims

At this moment, people start to recognize the girl as she must have been pretty famous. But again, you had never heard about her before today

"Hey... isn't that girl Misa Misa?"

"You're right! I-It's her!"

Two girls ran up to you both, and it quickly turned from two to twenty people. The twenty to thirty, and so on...

You were surrounded

There were people everywhere, complimenting her, telling her they were her biggest fan. Something that you had once wished to hear but now this was overwhelming. Even for you.

You turned to Ryuzaki as he looks at you. He motions over to Misa's phone in her back pocket with his eyes and puts a finger up to his lips.

Quickly, he reaches and grabs it, hiding it in his pocket

She turns around

"No way! Somebody just touched my butt!"

It took all the mental strength inside of you to not laugh as Ryuzaki began to panic, holding his hand up in front of him

"Uh.."  He started to act up, holding his hands into fists

"Th-This is an outrage!" He grabbed your wrist and ran up in front of her

"Uh- Taking advantage of this situation is unforgivable-! , I will find whoever is responsible for this..!" He says in a heroic, but fake tone, pointing to Misa as she giggles

"Oh, Ryuga... You're so funny!"

He looks over to you, giggling as well and blushes

"I wanna touch her too!" A man from the crowd says as people laugh. You heard it clearly and cringed... perv

Yet again, another side to him you had never knew about..

You looked over to Light who you had noticed was staring blankly at everything.. like he was annoyed but before you could say anything, Misa's manager comes over and scolds her before she was late to her next photoshoot again, and eventually brings her away

She smiles and waves

"Bye Light! I'll see you after work! Miss you already!"

Ryuzaki turns around with his hands in his pockets

"Well then.. perhaps we should get going."

"Yeah.. actually could you guys go on ahead? I need to use to restroom." Light responds

"Ok then... i'll see you there.." Ryuzaki starts to walk away with you beside him

"L... you don't think-" You whisper to him

"Oh, yes... you're correct."

"And why did you take her phone?"

"You'll see."

Not even a minute after he says that, the phone he had starts ringing with Light as the caller ID

Ryuzaki smirks at you holding up the phone in the air with a smile

"Just as i've deducted, (Y/N).."

"I love you, Ryuzaki." You shake your head, chuckling

"I love you too." He smiles and answers the phone, acting completely oblivious

"Yes? Hello?"

You can clearly hear Light, annoyed

"...What do you mean 'hello'"?

"Oh! Is that you, Light? I guess someone must have dropped this phone in all of the commotion earlier on."

...

Light wasn't saying anything

"Ah.. Hello?"

"Yeah.. that's- that's Misa's cellphone you have." You then hear Light from right behind you

"I can give it back to her."

"Well, I see. Sure, that makes sense." Ryuzaki hands the phone to you, and you hand it back to Light as Ryuzaki walks away

"Sorry..." You smile

"Oh, it's no problem. No need to apologize." He smiles back, shaking his head

"You should probably get back to him before you lose him." He points over to Ryuzaki, watching people come out of the cafeteria with cake. He's probably gonna disappear into there if you don't get him

"Yeah, you're probably right." You laugh and walk over to him which didn't take a lot of time because he really wasn't anything but a couple of feet away from Light, but then another phone rings

Ryuzaki digs in his pockets and mumbles "Oh-..oh, this time it's actually my cellphone."

He answers it

"Yes?..Yes I see." You and Light quietly wait patiently for L to finish

"So... it's done, then?.... I understand." He hangs up the phone and hands it to you

"I'm not exactly sure how you'll take this but regarding Misa Amane, there is something you should know..."

You and Light both raise eyebrows

"We've taken her into custody under suspicion of being the second Kira." Light widens his eyes

"We gathered the physical evidence from the envelope that were sent by the second Kira. In particular.. hairs and fibers from the masking tape used to seal them. They matched what we found in Misa's room. There would be a public uproar if it gets out that she's been apprehended as the second Kira, so... officially, we've charged her manager with drug possession and she's a voluntary witness.. but I doubt any of this will get out."

Light stayed silently throughout all of this, and you just stood shocked. How in the world was he able to do all of this in such little time?

As you separated and said your goodbyes, you began to question Ryuzaki

"Ryuzaki... how?"

He chuckled "I've had all of this planned in advance, I just wanted to see it for myself."

"Well I guess you got what you wanted... and hey- since when do you like idols?"

He laughed and looked to the ground, a bit embarrassed

"When I was younger... i-it's a long story."

You giggled, he was adorable when flustered

Once you got back to the headquarters, both you and Ryuzaki finally could rest. The work for today was done, but you could've been partially wrong..

You had gotten out of the shower, coconut honey scented steam surrounded you everywhere and you didn't mind it one bit, it smelled really good. After putting on clothes, you opened the door to immediately be greeted by Ryuzaki who gave you his familiar wide-eyed stare with a smile

"Ryu-"

Before you could even really speak, Ryuzaki pressed his lips onto yours, which caught you off guard. The sweet scent of the steam made it even better.

He pulled away and smiled, tucking a piece of your wet hair behind your ear as you giggled

"Wh-What was that for?"

"I'm not sure... You know, you're the very first person to make me question myself."

He takes your hand and kisses the back of it, your face quickly turning into a light shade of red before winking and walking away to the room.

You smile and shake your head as you walk in not that long after him, you were happy, though, that he had noticeably gotten more sleep since you had come into his path months ago...has it been a year?

Ryuzaki was sitting in the bed on a laptop, typing something that you assumed was about the Kira case. You got in and snuggled up close to him as he rested his head on yours after kissing your hair.

"Go to sleep, i'll do the same in a bit, I just need to take care of something."

"Okay..."
You slowly drifted to sleep listening to the sound of Ryuzaki's breathing and slow heartbeat
