Chapter Three

"You're his sister?!" He asked standing up so quickly I swore he almost knocked over the chair he was previously sat on.

"Y-, Yes I am. I would suggest thinking about that before you try aiming that gun at me again, sir" I said trying to seem more confident then I was obviously feeling at that moment.

The man ran out of the tent promptly after, this time actually knocking the chair over. I got up from the cot, dusting off my skirt and and the shoulders of my shirt. I tried to walk but my head hurt so much from when I was knocked out that I sat back down on the cot. Holding my head and closing my eyes to try to not concentrate on the pain.

What a wonderful way to start back on Callister I thought. I tried to concentrate on something else; I could hear soldiers walking outside, the sound of horses and dogs, and running. Wait why did I hear running? Before I could put much thought into it the flaps of the tent opened revealing 3 men, this time it was 2 officers with the same man who was watching over me before.

"This is her, this is the one that said she was that Hamilton's sister!" he said ,trying to get a better view of me behind the two men who had at least four or five inches on him.

One of the men came towards me grabbing me by the arm and dragging me out of the tent. I tried to break from his grip but it was no use, as soon as I tried to move my other arm back to strike him the other officer grabbed that arm and tugged me saying, "I wouldn't even try, you're surrounded." and at the moment he said that I looked up, it was true; I was surrounded, I look up to see an entire camp of redcoats, most in full dress, others without their jackets and hats, some covered in gauze with blood seeping thru. Even some women tending to fire and aiding the wounded. Before I could get better looks at anyone in the camp I looked back at where the officers were taking me, another tent. This one though was much larger than the one I was in, and seem to be positioned at the heart of the camp. The two soldiers keeping guard at the head of the tent made eye contact with the officers holding me and one nodded, opening the left flap of the tents entrance, letting us in.

Inside the tent was a group of about six of seven men, all in full military dress. They were in a heated discussion. I could hear words like 'ambush', 'spy', and 'york city' flying out from their mouths. Finally one of the men who seemed less active in the conversation tapped one of the taller men on the shoulder, who turned around to make eye contact with me.

"Ah Miss Hamilton! How good of you to join us! Please sit." At that he pointed to a chair at the head of a long wooden table, which had seven other chairs. I looked up at the man as he told everyone else in the tent to leave, except for three, what I presumed were his aide-de-camps. He sat down at the other head of the table, as his aides stood behind him.

"One of my men tells me you're the sister to Colonel Hamilton of the continental army."

I look at him and raise my chin to try and seem less scared and more confident.

"I am, yes. So I would suggest releasing me before he comes looking for me. Oh, and let me tell you all hell will break loose when he find out I am here, general....?" I leave off not knowing his name.

He looks and me and stands, "Well we wouldn't want that would we Miss Hamilton."

I glare at him, he still hasn't answered who he is.

"What is your name general?"

He gets up and nods at his aides to leave the tent, "General Howe, Miss. I will send word immediately of your capture to one of the rebel occupied towns nearby, from there word should reach your brother of your capture. From there we shall discuss your release."

With that he swiftly turned on his heel and left the tent. Not even five seconds later one of the officers who brought me here opened the tent and waved at me to follow him. He escorted me back to my tent and then left again.

I sighed. This was going to take awhile.
