{50} New Year's Eve

The tension was thick in the air as Ushio watched Sara and Nagisa stare each other down, each with the own weapons of choice. Nagisa was holding some of the thickest blades Ushio had ever seen her create, and Sara? She was holding a Kimono.

"Sabito Nagisa, I swear, if you so much as put a paper-cut sized tear in this kimono then your account will mysteriously be drained of half it's money," the hacker threatened, and Nagisa jabbed a threatening blade in the air.

"Then keep that away from me!"

"Ushio didn't put up a fight!" Sara stated pointedly at the girl watching from the couch.

  "I'm not Ushio!"

A small chase revolving around the coffee table ensued, with Ushio strategically timing the best moments to reach out and snag two or three mochi at once. In terms of stamina, Nagisa was better off than her hacker friend Sara, so it wasn't surprising when she flopped to the floor out of breath.

"Why must you be so difficult?"

"Why do I need to wear it?"

Sara let out a loud groan, drowning out the sound of her front door opening. "it's times like this I wish that Siren friend was here."

"Well, she's not," Nagisa teased, "deal with it."

"She's got the next best thing, though."

  "Hi Eric."

"Hello Ushio," he turned to the other two, directing at Nagisa, "would you please wear a kimono for this year's New Year's festival?"

It wasn't long before they were all seated in the small living room, Sara and Nagisa finally dressed in their own kimonos and Ushio sharing Eric her mochi.

Nagisa glared daggers at Eric while her friend fussed over her hair. Eric caught her glare and shrugged in question.

  "What?"

  "Traitor," she huffed.

"Great!" Sara announced with a clap of her hands. "Let's go!"

A long drive-- due to Nagisa and Sara's bickering-- and they were at the Sabito family grave. They took their time to clean it up nicely, including the smaller headstone placed there for Nana. By the time they were done, Ushio was smiling softly, having felt good for managing to see where the kind old lady had been laid to rest. Not long after, they headed back to the neighbourhood Nagisa and Nana used to live in for the local festival. They'd made a stop in front of Nana's old house, and when Ushio got out of the car, she ran straight into Ashido.

"Oh, Ushio!" She gave a quick glance at her outfit before squeezing her in a hug. "You look so cute!"

  "What are you doing here?"

"Visiting my parents and getting some stuff for the dorm party."

"Aizawa's letting you guys throw a party?" Nagisa asked skeptically.

Ashido's head cocked when she realised the likelihood of that happening under normal circumstances. Good thing it wasn't a normal circumstance.

"It's new year's eve," she shrugged. "He promised."

Wow, he really is a sucker for those kids. Nagisa thought.

Holding up the shopping bags of goods, Ashido asked eagerly, "I'm just about done here. Ushio, why don't you come with me to the dorms? It'll be fun!"

Ushio's brows furrowed with uncertainty. "I don't know... Nagisa said she needed help with something."

"Oh, that's fine," Sara cut in. "She's a grown woman, she can handle it herself."

"You should go have fun withyour friends," Eric added.

  "Todoroki will be there."

Ushio couldn't understand the wiggling eyebrows her friend was showing her, but she looked at Nagisa, the lady shrugged.

"Go have fun. Don't worry about it."

Alost reluctantly, she agreed, before watching Sara snatch Eric's car keys from him, saying he and Nagisa could use the opportunity to walk and talk. With Sara acting as driver, the girls headed back to the dorms at UA, where they were bombarded with happy faces as soon as they entered the dorm building.

Both class 1A and 1B were there, as well as Eri, who didn't hesitate to grab Ushio by the hand and walk her over to where the food was, sticking close to her the rest of the night. Despite the cold, Kirishima was walking around in a vest that read 'manly', while Ochako and Jiro sat next to Tsuyu wrapped in blankets to keep them warm. Midoiya was as energetic and talkative as ever, and though she didn't really talk to him, Bakugo didn't yell or glare at her, which Ushio took as a good sign.

At some point, Ushio spotted Mineta tied to a chair, eyes held wide open with what she thought was tape, and when she asked Ashido what had happened, she replied with;

"We're getting him started early on a new year's resolution."

After all the food had been eaten and teh dishes cleared away, class 1B left for their own dorm. Ushio was apparently staying the night with Ashido; she had asked Nagisa and Sara packed her clothes in preparation. She actually didn't mind, but as midnight drew closer, she got more and more confused as to why everyone was getting ready to leave the dorms.

"What's going on? Where are we going?"

Eri, who'd detached from Ushio only to be carried by Midoriya, shared a sneaky smile with the green haired boy.

  "It's a surprise!" Eri giggled.

Ushio couldn't say much-- she wasn't given the chance-- because darkness overtook her vision when Kaminari blindfolded her.

From the hushed laughs and chuckles, she could identify Ashido, Ochako, Kaminari, Midoriya and Eri as those immediately surrounding her. A squeal left her when someone carried her, but she calmed down when everyone else clapped.

"Can't make you walk when there's a man around to carry you!"

The night just kept getting weirder as they entered some large vehicle and everyone fell silent. Without being eble to see where they were taking her or hear what they had planned, butterflies became a very prominent concept in Ushio's stomach. When the vehicle suddenly stopped, she was carried out by Kirishima again. Then with a warm hand she recognised as Todoroki's and a smaller one she recognised as Eri's, she was led down a gravel driveway.

The whispers and mischievous chuckles had started up once more, and she only had a second to be  confused before the blindfold was ripped off. With the rest of 1A standing by the sides and Eric and Nagisa at the center, everyone yelled.

"WELCOME TO THE FUKISAWA TIDE MANOR! YOUR NEW HOME!"

  "Surprise!" Eri and Todorki finsihed.

For a straight minute, blinking was the only thing Ushio knew how to do. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish as everyone crowded around her. Looking at the adults present; Aizawa, Eric, Sara and Nagisa; she realised it was all planned.

Colour changing eyes locked with silver. "What's all this?" she just managed a whisper.

"Eric, Sara and I intend on finding others like us and bringing Blackmark down for good. It only made sense that they'd have a place to fall back to when needed," Nagisa explained with a smile before chuckling. "That, and we needed a new house."

She blinked again. "We?"

"You didn't think I was giving you up, did you?" Nagisa's brows cocked up in question.

Eyes stinging with a wave of tears, Ushio smiled at the sincerity. "No. No I didn't."

"Aww! I'm so happy for you!" Ashido gave another bone crushing hug. "You'll be close by too. Yay!"

  "Group hug!"

No one was sure who'd really said it, but Ushio was soon the center of one of the largest hugs she'd seen in her life. After a few pictures, Kaminari practically yelled.

  "Let's start the count down!"

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5..."

"Here's to a great new year!" Midoriya beamed,

  "4, 3, 2..."

Sara and Ashido announced, pointing above Eric and Nagisa, "mistletoe!"

  "Was?!"

  "HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
