{12} GPS. Vague Directions Won't Work With Them

So... Nomus.

Yeah...

By far the weirdest things Ushio had ever seen and definitely the last things she'd want to be chased by while looking for icecream. Yes, that's right. Things. She had herself a posse of them coming after her, about three of them running behind her, one of which tried to roast her alive on multiple occasions, and she wasn't sure whether to feel good or not because it kept them distracted from the civilians.

But if she thought about it, she was a civilian too. Why the heck was she doing this?!

She began to mutter under breath as she pumped her legs forward, "This is wrong this is wrong this is so wrong helch—"

Her mumblings distracted her and allowed the hood of her black hoodie to get caught by something above her. Before she could register what was going on, she was yanked into the sky, almost choking from the way she dangled by her clothes. She glanced up.

Oh, they fly too...?!

She stretched out her hand, sweat beading beneath the headgear on her forehead as the ground grew further from her. Her pole materialized in her hand, but before she could use it, there was a loud clap, like a jet of wind and she was falling down to the ground.

It was strange; a dwarf of a man... An old man with a full head of white hair no less, dressed in a yellow and white costume had kicked the Nomu clean out of the air and into the curb, forcing it to let her go.

She took a second to admire the speed at which he moved, before realizing that she was about to become a sidewalk pancake. Not wasting any time, she gripped the pole, curved blade emerging from it, and dug in into the roof of the nearest building. Before the force could pop of her arms, she swung backwards, doing a double flip before landing on the roof.

She looked down at the old man on the city street.

"Oi, that was too dangerous for a brat like you!"

She moved away from the ledge, ignoring the old man's words about disrespectful kids before he shot off.

Pretty nimble for an old guy.

She stood, determined to get back to her icecream hunt, but a sudden heat flash stopped her. Clenching her eyes she dropped to one knee before pulling back the sleeve of her steaming hoodie. She looked at the lines mapping her arm.

They were a slight red.

This... takes up too much... She thought as she looked at the pole turned scythe.

She let it go and it disintegrated all pixel like the moment it got the ground. She also took off her hoodie and unzipped her black combats to turn them into shorts. She probably looked weird in a grey tee, black shorts, red shoes, bandaged legs and half bandaged arms, but it was what was currently comfortable for her.

She wall scaled down the building, jumping the last few feet down. Her phone ring as she walked down the sidewalk, still looking for that evasive icecream shop.

  "Hell—"

  "Ushio where are you?!"

"Nagisa?" She blinked as she turned into an alley, feeling it would be better for her to avoid the panic through the darkness, "I don't know."

"Ushio, I need to know where you are right now."

She nodded to herself, "Let me just send the loca—"

She stopped short when she noticed the figure at the end of the alley way. Tall dark and commanding. Red eyes glowing and boring into her, making her skin crawl. She knew that body build all too well, so she reacted instantly by walking backwards.

"Ushio?" Nagisa's voice came on the other side of the phone that was still pressed to her ear, "Ushio!"

  "Now now child..." Sharp teeth.

Sharp, sharp teeth in a wicked, wicked grin.

"You know the rules. No phones during operation..."

  "Ushi—!"

*

The line cut.

Nagisa didn't understand. Why would the line just cut? Ushio was aloof, sure, and slightly unpredictable, maybe. But she wasn't intentionally rude.

She stayed sitting on the neck of a Nomu, staring at her phone in question.

"Oi, Sparrow. Those things are able to regenerate; sitting on it's neck is not wise."

"I'm not stupid Endeavor. Unless it can move with a twelve inch blade up it's cranium, I'm going to take all the time I need." She replied and lazily stood up. She sighed, "I need to find Ushio."

"You let your intern brat leave without permission?" He asked as they began walking towards the general direction of the main chaos, taking out strays on the way, "You've gotten weak."

"I don't do internships Endeavor." She flicked her wrist and the blade that was in the Nomu they left behind returned to her hand, "Like you're one to talk, I saw your kid leave you hanging. Besides, she's not an intern. I don't work like that."

She broke out into a light jog and threw one of her knives towards the nearest building. It easily lodged into the structure and, using the thin line that was connected to the hilt, she pulled herself up.

"Good luck sir hothead." She finger saluted as she left the angry looking pro hero.

She began roof top parkour, keeping her ears opened for anything that would lead her to Ushio. But all she could see were Nomus, as far as the eye could see. For her, that was pretty far; compound quirk and all that. She was about to start dreading the task when she saw a flash of blue, a digital-like trail dissipating into the air.

Unless there's a new video game hero, that would be Ushio.

She followed the trail to a connection of alleys. Looking down, she saw a small figure running. Dark hair that blended into the shadows, but silver head piece that was unmistakably Ushio's. Behind her, was a tall hulk of a guy. Behind him were three goons, and behind them; four Nomus.

How does this kid get into such trouble?!

She flicked her wrists, her two tantos reappearing in her hands. She swung her legs over the edge of the building, sitting there and waiting for Nomus to get right under her.

3...2...1...!

She landed smack onto one's back, digging her blades into it's neck before jumping to the next one and doing the same. The third one was a bit difficult. It managed to grab her and throw her off it. Her back slammed into the wall, denting it, and she was sure she heard something crack. Not registering the wind rushing out her lungs, she threw a blade into its head through it's eyes and stabbed the last one in the general area of the heart. She slumped slightly against a wall.

  "Agh, hah... Dammit that hurt."

She looked out of the alley. Ushio was gone.

  "Ah... Crud."
