Late Night Talking

Alora navigated her way through the aisles with Chris falling not too far behind. Alora was on a mission to get her Dr.Pepper and she would refuse to leave if there wasn't one in her hand. They made it over to the refrigerated section of the CVS and Chris spotted the soda before she did. Opening the fridge he grabbed one a threw it in her direction. It was hard to miss the way her eyes glowed when she realized what she was holding. "Can you grab two more for me please?" She asked.

He nodded and retrieved two more for the girl. When he turned to look back at her she was already downing the drink. "God if I had a dick I would 110% stick it in a cold bottle of Dr.Pepper," She mentioned. Chris laughed and shook his head.

"That might just be the new quote of the night," He said grabbing a Pepsi for himself.

The two walked around CVS before landing in front of a sunglass display. Alora grabbed the pair closest to her and put them on, "Well how do I look?" She asked while striking a pose. Chris took this opportunity to take a picture of the girl. "You look very cute Alora." She couldn't help but smile at his words. Whispering a quick thanks she put the sunglasses back and the two continued walking. They made their way over to the cashier and placed their drinks before the older man who was working. Chris didn't miss the way he eyed Alora as she reached into her pocket.

"Well hey, there beautiful anything else I can do for you tonight," Alora's smile immediately sunk at the worker's words and an uncomfortable look took over.

Chris took this as his sign to put his arm around Alora's waist and pull her into his side. "She's okay man, we are okay, just the drinks please," he said not letting his grip slide in the slightest. Alora kept quiet and only nodded.

"Wasn't asking you but alright," He mumbled, "Just follow the instructions on the pin-pad."

Alora tapped her card on the screen before Chris got the chance and took their now-bagged drinks in her hand as she pulled Chris towards the exit.

Alora stayed by Chris's side with his arm holding a firm grip around her waist until they were back at the car. The two separated as they had to get in. "Well he was creepy," Alora said breaking the silence.

"I think creepy is an understatement, and sorry for kinda just throwing my arm around you without warning. I just thought it was the smartest option at the moment and-" Chris was cut off by Alora placing her hand on top of his.

"Don't apologize Chris I was gonna say thank you," She said giving him the smile he liked to see.

"Okay right sorry," Alora smacked his hand at that.

"Hey, I said don't apologize," Chris laughed and Alora lifted her hand to start the car.

"Finally taking me to this secret location?" He asked.

An mhm was all that was heard as Alora pulled out of the parking lot.

While Alora drove Chris pulled out his phone to look at the picture he'd taken of the girl with an idea in his head he posted the picture to his story.

Not too long later the car came to a stop and Chris looked up to see they were in the middle of what looked like nowhere. Out of the window, all you could see was a few trees here and there. "Alora can I ask where we are?" He said looking over at her.

"Well, only my favorite place in LA Chris. Now cmon get out of the car and you'll understand why," She said opening her door.

Chris walked out of the car kinda skeptical about the whole thing but when he turned around and saw the cliff they were on that his thoughts changed completely. Over the edge, you could see all of LA right before you and it was almost unreal to look at. "Woah." Was the only thing he could get out of his mouth.

"It's nice isn't it?" Alora asked whilst pulling a blanket from her trunk. With a nod of his head, Chris walked over to help her lay it out. "This is my favorite place to come at night. Nothing will ever beat this view in my eyes. But hey congrats you're the first person I've brought here."

"I can understand why you would love to come here. This view is just damn," Chris said looking over at her. She looked back at him and gave him a sort of sad smile. "What's on your mind Alora?" Was what he asked as the two sat down

"How much shit has happened in the last 24 hours. I mean hell I came to LA and ended up on the same flight as you, Nick, and Matt, I got publicly cheated on, I broke up with the guy I was in a relationship with for a year and a half, I wrote and recorded my most vulnerable song, I'm releasing that said song tomorrow and I met a few people I've been talking to over the phone for months. I don't know I just wonder how much would be different if my manager didn't call me Saturday morning. Like if he didn't call I'd still be in Connecticut and you and I wouldn't know each other," She blabbed, "The world works in weird ways and it never fails to amaze me."

"Yeah that is a lot but some good things have come out of it hasn't it?" He said laying down.

"It most definitely has," Alora replied laying down next to him, "Look it's the big dipper." Excitement flowed through the girl's voice whilst she pointed up at the dark sky above them.

"Where?" Chris asked trying to follow her line of sight.

"Give me your hand," He obeyed and gave it to her. Alora took his pointer finger and pointed it in the direction of the consolation. "And if you look right there that's the big dipper," she followed up moving his finger over a bit. "Give me a moment and I might be able to point out the milky way." Chris admired the way Alora's eyes glimmered under the moonlight. The way her smile grew when she talked about where and what these stars were. Alora Adiar was captivating in a sense. Or at least she was to Chris.

He listened as she continued to talk about the stars. Not once interrupting her thoughts. It was comfortable. Lying there next to Alora with nothing but her voice filling the air. Los Angeles was suffocating but at this moment it felt bearable.

Chris and Alora spent time going back and forth asking each other whatever questions came to mind. Trying to figure out as much as they could about each other as if there was a timer that was bound to run out. "Can you sing something?" Chris asked.

"Yeah of course I can just lemme grab my guitar," The girl replied getting up.

"Your guitar? Where the fuck did you hide it?" He asked.

"Up my ass Chris," She laughed, "I keep it in my trunk in case I spark a random idea at any given moment," She informed.

She grabbed her guitar and plopped back down next to Chris who was now sitting up. Throwing her legs over his she started playing something. She knew Chris knew about Long Sleeves and although it was a personal song she trusted Chris. It was crazy to think that he was just another person in the world to her a matter of two days ago but now here she was in a spot that was special to her about to play a song that no one else even knew of just for him.

She wanted to play this song for him and so she started strumming the notes.

"Packing while you're asleep," She sang. Chris was all ears so she continued, "You were the catalyst, I don't know what it is about how you breathe. About how you breathe. I want to be alone, hate it that no one knows. You're good to everyone, all them but me, all them but me. And if you hear me, leaving in the morning, could you just pretend that it was only wind? 'Cause I can't love you, even if I want to. Got a lot to work through, You don't know where I've been. It's been a long time coming, it's been a long time coming, it's been a long time coming, it's been a long time coming. Say something sweet to me. It never meant a thing, used to the turbulence, I wore long sleeves, I wore long sleeves. I fought 'til you tethered me, swept under surfaces. Never enough of it, you didn't think, you didn't think. If you hear me, leaving in the morning, could you please pretend that it was only wind? 'Cause I can't love you, even if I want to. Got a lot to work through. You don't know where I've been. It's been a long time coming, it's been a long time coming, it's been a long time coming, it's been a long time coming. Im coming down, Im coming down, Im coming down. Im coming down, Im coming down, Im coming down. Im coming down, Im coming down, Im coming down. Im coming down, Im coming down, Im coming down," She finished.

Chris was in awe. He had heard Alora's voice before but not in person. Not like this. She had such a soft voice when singing and yet you could feel every emotion she felt as she sang. Not to mention the lyrics that followed her voice it was hard not to be in awe. Alora was looking at Chris hoping for something.

"Once again another really powerful song Lora," Lora. That was a nickname she hadn't been given before, but it felt so natural falling from Chris's lips. "You have a way with these lyrics I swear it's mesmerizing."

A blush crept upon her cheeks. Alora wasn't a person that knew how to take compliments and in all honesty, it was easy to fluster her, "Thanks Chris, that means a lot," He smiled at her, "You know you're the only person that knows anything about this song."

"I feel absolutely honored." He put a hand above his heart which earned a laugh out of her. "It really is a great song Lora and your voice compliments the lyrics well."

"You think so?" Reassurance was something Alora's body craved. It was her drug and she needed it more than anything.

"Wouldn't say it if I didn't." That made Alora's smile almost double.

She started strumming something once again trying to find a tune to use.

"Give me a word. Any word in the world," She told Chris.

"Uh, car?" He spoke.

With a nod of her head, she took a few seconds to think of something, "I'll sit and watch your car burn. With the fire that you started in me, but you never came back to ask it out. Go ahead and watch my heart burn. With the fire that you started in me, but I'll never let you back to put it out," She sang. "Chris go open my glove department and get the notebook and pen in there please," She pleaded. Chris shot up and ran over to the passenger door to do what Alora had asked. He came back and threw the notebook in her direction. Alora wasted no time in flipping to a clean page and scribbling down the words she had just sung. "Well Chris I think you just helped me write a chorus," She told the boy in front of her.

"How do you just think of these lyrics so effortlessly?" He asked.

Alora shrugged her shoulders and placed her guitar by her side, "I have no clue they just sort of flow along you know?"

"I wish I knew. That's like one of the most impressive things to me," Disbelief was engraved in his words. He was amazed that someone could just put words together so well.

Alora laughed and fished for her phone, noticing that it nearing five am she suggested that they headed back. Chris agreed and once again the two were back in Alora's car.
