taehyung was about to reach for the can of red bull in the fridge when all the lights flickered off, following by faint shuffling in the distance and the noise of a door behind locked shut.

his eyes widened in alarm as he shoved the energy drink back into the fridge and turned around to see the entire drugstore shut down with no one left in sight. rushing over to the entrance, he cursed under his breath when he realized it was indeed locked from the outside.

how horrible must his luck be for him to get locked in a drugstore at 11PM?

groaning into his hands, he was about to reach for his phone until he heard a sigh come from behind him, followed by a voice grumbling something along the lines of, "never thought we'd meet again like this."

taehyung hurriedly whipped his head around at the surprising presence of another human being but simply scowled when he saw jeon jungkook standing a couple of feet away, tattoed arms crossed in front of his chest and an irritated expression plastered on his face.

"me neither. fate's a funny thing, ain't it?" taehyung retorted, but his flat tone showed that he found this situation anything but amusing.

"tried kicking down the door yet?" jungkook then asked.

taehyung's brow quirked up. "i'd rather not try that, thank you very much."

"wimp."

"dick."

jungkook's eye twitched and his jaw clenched in evident annoyance, but a loud and abrupt 'fuck!' made the ravenet jolt a little. he quietly observed how the other frantically started to stuff his hand into every single pocket on his outfit and even let out a wail of horror at the end of it.

"i left my phone in the car, crap," taehyung muttered, throwing a punch at the wall next to him before glaring over at jungkook who stood with both his hands raised up in a mock surrender.

"dude, don't look at me. i figured i wouldn't have to bring my phone with me since i live down the block," jungkook claimed with a frown.

"oh, how great," taehyung cheered sarcastically, letting out a defeated huff and collapsing against the check-out counter tiredly. "shit, and i still need to finish writing my proposal or else that old fart will keep complaining," he added, fingers tugging at his golden locks in frustration.

jungkook blinked in silence, watching taehyung continuously run his hands through his hair with pure stress etched all over his features. "must be rough," it accidentally slipped.

taehyung instantly tensed up.

"it is," he replied in a soft mumble, but jungkook's ears easily picked it up.

jungkook could only nod, unsure of what else to say.

"you should sleep, it's probably about to turn midnight and i'm sure you're not down to strike up some lame conversation with me," taehyung soon declared, legs folded up to his chest and arms securely wrapped around them, dull caramel irises peering straight at jungkook. "sucks that we really have no choice but to spend the night here."

"right," jungkook deadpanned, sliding down to the cold floor and leaning against the wall next to the entrance of the store. he took a split second to sneak a glance at taehyung who had his face buried in his arms.

the tattooist decided to not bother the other man and just attempted to lull himself to slumber.

but he suddenly sneezed, briefly startling taehyung.

"cold?" taehyung queried in curiosity.

"no."

however, he sneezed again right after his response.

"liar. who would've thought that all those muscles can't keep you warm when you need it?" taehyung scoffed as he shrugged off his suit jacket and offered it out to jungkook with a stretched arm. "here, take it."

"don't want it," jungkook shot back stubbornly despite being clad in only a mere, thin white tee on a chilly autumn night.

"your pale lips are telling me otherwise but whatever floats your boat, jeon," taehyung spoke with a smirk, setting the jacket down on the floor beside him.

a heavy silence fell over the two once again as drowsiness gradually took over jungkook, and it wasn't before long when light snores finally began emitting from the tattoo artist's mouth.

taehyung honestly found it quite cute, but he'd obviously never say that out loud.

too bad he's literally the reincarnate of satan.

with a shake of his head, the blond stood up from his spot and carefully trodded over to where jungkook was asleep, his suit jacket loosely grasped in his left hand. with a slight bend, he gently draped the jacket over jungkook's frame, making sure it covered his front as much as possible as jungkook was a little broader than him.

taehyung's gaze shamelessly lingered on the raven's parted lips as he exhaled, slowly trailing up to the bridge of his nose and the fluttery eyelashes that fell against his high cheekbones.

"it's unfair how you remind me of him so much — almost a little too much — and just when i thought he was surely out of my life for good," taehyung paused, crouching down in front of the sleeping male with half-lidded eyes. "which is why i hate you, jeon jungkook."
