12. Completing Contracts (Part 1)

After heading back home, Y/N slumped onto his couch like he usually did, sighing loudly.

He reached for his ears, gingerly feeling them with his good arm. His injured arm was able to reach, but was a bit stiff. Wincing slightly at the memory of the gunshot as he did so.

"I've watched the movies, why do they not hurt their ears?" Y/N whined softly, removing his cloak and mask.

The boy was tired. It was afternoon, so he decided to head out and get some food.

He hadn't eaten out in a while, and it was starting to bother him slightly, so Y/N took a cab to the cat restaurant he'd been attacked at months ago with a small stack of notes in his pocket.

Don't look at me please. I'm just some introverted boy, eyes on the road please.

Y/N threw money at the driver and kept his head down low during the whole ride, giving a nod of thanks as he got out.

It was probably a huge risk going out in public, but he was bored and he needed to see people again.

The league is coming to visit me... tomorrow? The day after? I can't remember. Y/N mentally slapped himself.

Doesn't matter. Y/N stood outside the cafe for a few seconds, looking it over.

It was like nothing had changed. The glass windows and writing were exactly as they were before, and the sign at the top hadn't changed either. In fact, everything looked completely new, probably having been replaced.

The tables were new as well, and everything looked clean and tidy as Y/N pushed through the door.

It was like nothing had happened. The walls and floor were clean of blood, and the only sign something had happened there was a small plaque on the wall with small silvery lettering.

There were only a few other people in the cafe, which was just how Y/N wanted it.

Y/N walked as casually as he could to the cafe's counter, speaking quietly. "Yeah, could I get a mocha with extra milk?"

For some reason, he was craving something sweet, and the coffee would help him stay awake.

The cashier looked at him curiously. He was a normal looking man, dressed smartly with a tie and slacks.

"Do I... do I know you from somewhere?"

Y/N shook his head as innocently as possible. "I don't think so."

"Ok." The cashier input some numbers on the register. "That will be 500 yen, please."

Y/N gave him a one thousand yen note, waiting patiently as the man gave him his change. It was best to avoid the extra attention of refusing change, even if it did mean standing so close to the person for longer.

"There's a spare table over there."

The cashier pointed at a single table in the corner, and Y/N nodded, thanking him as he made his way over to the table.

The boy sat down, staring around at the cafe. Even being here was more interesting than sitting at home.

"So, Nezu is next. I assume I'll get him at U.A, but I should probably do that before the League visits me. They'll want me to go somewhere with them, and I still have to complete my contracts."

The cafe employee came over, giving him his coffee, and Y/N thanked him.

In all reality, he should probably go to U.A as soon as possible, but procrastinating was just so much more fun.

So Y/N sat in the cafe, sipping leisurely from his drink and enjoying the feel of being outside, the peace of a cafe that he'd destroyed before.

He rested in the corner for a few minutes, staring off into the distance before he started to feel bored again.

Y/N was in need of action. He always spent his time doing the most crazy, nerve-racking stuff, and sitting in a coffee shop paled in comparison.

He got up, stretching with his coffee in his left hand, and decided to head to U.A to complete another contract.

Life is so boring nowadays...

When he completed it, it would be the single largest payment he'd ever received for killing one person.

Y/N walked out of the shop with a grin on his face at the thought of the money. He didn't bother to pick up his cloak or his mask, walking right towards U.A with nothing but his quirk to use.

It felt nice to not be weighed down by all the equipment for once. Like before, just him and his lifesteal to get jobs done.

He took sips from his mocha as he walked, sighing as the sweet drink settled in his stomach.

And before he knew it, he was at U.A's main gate.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Y/N drained a few nearby gardens before phasing through the outer wall of U.A, staying away from any paths.

There were signs of student activity everywhere, even in the afternoon, and Y/N realised that the classes would start to finish soon.

He walked through the grounds a bit faster, purple eyes glowing as his feet crunched on the grass.

The main glass building was structured similar to a skyscraper, looking like a blocky cuboid that went high up. There were four main towers, and Y/N guessed Nezu would be at the top of one of them. He would check the principal's office first, if he could remember where it was.

Y/N started walking up a small incline towards the base of one of the towers, glancing around furtively to check if anybody was watching him.

Then he turned translucent, walking through the wall into the U.A main building.

Y/N solidified on the other side, looking around. He'd phased into a dark room, and he felt in front of him to find a wall.

The boy did a full circle, knocking over some stuff as he realised he was probably in a maintenance room or a cleaner's room. He flapped his hands at the wall till they found a switch, and flicked it to turn on a dim light.

"Huh."

Y/N was indeed inside a janitor's room, the small space filled with cleaning and repairing equipment. He found the door and tried the handle, to no success.

So instead he phased through, sticking his head through first to check what was on the other side before stepping through into a wide corridor.

It was relatively bright, with lots of natural light, and Y/N set off at a light jog. If anybody spotted him, they would raise the alarm anyway, so running wouldn't change a thing.

He made his way through a few halls, ducking his head and quietening his steps every time he passed a classroom.

Y/N stopped at a signboard, muttering to himself. "Nezu took me to his office before, where is it now?"

The boy spotted one of the lowermost signs, with an arrow labelled 'Principal's Office' and his eyes lit up.

Checking his surroundings again, he ran a bit faster through the halls as a thought hit him. Do they have cameras? If they do, I'm screwed.

He passed a bathroom, and as he did an older boy stepped out into the hallway, shaking his hands to remove water from them.

Crap. Y/N slowed his pace to a walk and didn't look at the boy as he went past, but that didn't stop the student from questioning him.

"Why are you not in U.A uniform? And where are you going?"

Y/N turned, putting a fake smile on his face as his heart beat slightly faster. "I'm running an errand for Mr. Aizawa."

The boy spoke in a nasally tone, puffing his chest out like he was a big shot. "That doesn't excuse your uniform, first year. I'm going to call this in, what's your name?"

Y/N sighed, walking up to the boy and tilting his head before hissing menacingly. "Angel."

As the boy's eyes widened and his mouth opened to say something, Y/N placed his hand on his chest and drained him, causing his body to collapse to the floor.

I don't have time for this! Y/N dragged the body into the bathroom he had come from, leaving it on the floor in a cubicle and locking the door before phasing out of it.

He resumed his jog down the hallway, following another sign to the Principal's Office as he prayed nobody else would try to stop him.

After a few more seconds, he began to remember the hallway, and sped up as he saw a dark wooden door with a small sign on it.

"That's it. Perfect."

Y/N's run turned into a sprint, and he turned translucent as he approached the door, preparing to launch himself right through it.

He wanted to get this done as quickly as possible - Y/N had underestimated how dangerous it actually was, coming to U.A in broad daylight.

So when he was a few steps away, he jumped headfirst through the wooden door, phasing through in a split second and solidifying as he landed in a roll on the other side.

The office was as cramped and badly designed as he remembered, with a high-backed chair and a computer on a wooden desk.

The rat-man Nezu was sitting in his chair like before, reading something on a piece of paper.

He looked up in shock as Y/N acted, pushing the table aside and tossing the computer onto the floor, where it cracked and sparked.

Y/N faced the principal. "No chance of calling for help, I'm afraid."

His face hardened and he glared at the surprised man. "I've got to do this quickly - I have some other contracts to complete, and they are all in this building."

"Who?"

Y/N's purple eyes locked onto the animal man's own, before the boy burst out laughing. "This isn't some sort of movie, you get that? I'm not the cliche villain that's going to tell you my master plan."

The boy leaned against the wall, one foot resting on the wood. "In this one minute before you die, I want to know. Why did you frame me for the camp assault?"

Nezu looked nervous at the question. "We have to keep up appearances. If we let the public know that the villains got a hold of the camp's location by themselves, then they would start to doubt our capability."

Y/N blinked a few times. "So you said that you caught a traitor. Me."

"You aren't a real hero, anyway. So you could have been a traitor."

Y/N nodded, a bit disappointed that Nezu had called him not a real hero. It was true, but it was slightly harsh. I could have been a 'real hero'. Maybe.

He approached the principal, who remained seated in his chair, and raised a hand out to the man.

"Handshake. The last one you'll have."

Nezu moved quicker than Y/N would have thought, spinning his chair round and reaching for the wall behind him.

Y/N lunged forward, not sure what the man was doing. His hand hit the high back of the chair, and he cursed, teleporting to the man's side.

It was too late, as Nezu pressed a red button on the wall, shouting loudly. His voice echoed through the small office as the lights turned red and a low beeping sounded.

"The Angel is in my office! Evacuate ever-"

Y/N tapped him on the head, draining him and letting the principal's corpse slump in his chair. He then spoke next to the button, hearing his own voice sound from hidden speakers.

"Don't even try to run."
