16- The Plan

I do my usual process of thinking, normally I would be on my phone but... You know.

So I stare at the ceiling while laying down on the bed and think of a way to entertain myself in this room, and only this room.

I finally come up with the idea to call Louis over. They said that I can't get out of my room, but they didn't say anything about someone coming in.

So I take my laptop and send him a Twitter DM, asking him to come over. Luckily, he replies with a 'yes' in a matter of seconds.

I slowly go downstairs and open the door before he pounds on it. "Shh, come in!" I whisper and let him in.

We slowly tip toe up to my room and I lock the door. I'm surprised that the creak on the stairs didn't occur.

I sit down on my beanbag and he sits on my desk. "Why did you ask me to shh?" Louis asks.

"I'm actually grounded and I'm pretty sure that my parents would ask you to go home." I say.

"You?! Grounded?!" He exclaims.

"Shocking. I know." I say sarcastically.

"Anyways, I need you to keep me entertained!" I say.

"So I'm your jester?" He asks.

"Not exactly but yeah." I say.

"I'm not going to be your jester, what are we a part of? The 15th century?" He asks.

"Ugh. You're useless." I say.

"Thanks." He says.

"But other than that, the comments have been blowing up! Have you checked your phone?" He asks.

"It got taken away." I say.

"Then how did you...?"

"I managed to hide my laptop." I say.

"Oh. Smart girl." He says.

"Thanks." I say, appreciating the compliment.

"And Oh my god! Evelyn has been going on non stop in the comments saying that she is your 'friend' to get attention." He says.

"And they are believing her?!" I ask, shocked.

"Yup." He nods.

"You know what? Maybe I should reply saying that I hate her so much that even hate can't describe it." I say.

"You can't say that because first of all, it doesn't make sense. And second, your parents will find out you have your laptop."

He's got me there.

"You're right." I sigh.

"How about you forget all about it and let it drift away?" He asks.

"How about I jump on her again and this time, try to kill her." I say.

"No!" He says.

"That's the same reply for you." I say.

"So now what?" He asks.

"Can we just act like nothing happened and talk to each other?" I ask.

"Maybe over Starbucks?" He asks.

"I can't. Remember?" I say.

He sighs. There is a long silence and I get the best idea into my head.

"We can go." I say.

"Really?! But how? I don't like that look on your face..." He says.

"Can you climb down ladders?" I ask.

"Yeah why?" He asks, sounding a little terrified.

"One sec." I say.

I open the door and go downstairs. I go to the guest room and see that Joe is there, and alone, fortunately.

"Hey." He says, looking up from his phone.

"Can you cover for me?" I ask.

"For what?" He asks, with the same amount of terrified in his tone.

"I'm going to Starbucks with some friends and..." I trail off hoping he can connect the rest of the dots.

"No way!" He replies immediately.

"Why not?" He asks.

"We'll only be ten minutes." I say.

He sits in silence and finally sighs and gives in. "Okay fine. But ten minutes, that's how long I'll cover for you!" He says.

"Thanks!" I say.

"But how are you going to get to the front door without passing Zoe and Alfie?" He asks.

"I have a way. But remember, they can not come into my room. Okay?" I ask.

"Noted." He says.

"You're the best!" I say, really meaning it.

"I'm the one who got you into this mess so I owed you." He says.

"You had nothing to do with it. Trust me." I say.

I run upstairs and lock my room door. Louis was still looking terrified. "I thought you loved adventure!" I say.

"I do! I'm so not scared." He says. That's a lie.

"Sure you aren't."

I open the window and look down. The ladder was still there.

The ladder was there because my parents got a painter to paint the outside of the house and they left all their equipment here. "Hold the ladder." I say.

"Are you crazy?" He asks.

"Yup. Now hold the ladder." I say.

He sighs and holds the ladder. I put my foot on the first step.

I hope I can pull this off....
