Chapter 8

^^^Frisk and Mettaton are both in this chapter, soo0... A picture of Frisk and Mettaton?

Papyrus woke up the next morning with a nightmare lingering in his mind. It was so vivid, it was almost real... He decided to shrug it off.

He sighed and sat up in his race car bed. The room was so dark, he was beginning to think it was still nighttime, but then again, he always woke up early. But never this early...

Papyrus climbed out of bed. He pulled his blankets neatly back over the pillows and began to head for the door, until....

...Until he nearly tripped over a sleeping robot laying on the floor.

There was Mettaton, peacefully dozing on the carpet. Why is he in my room? Papyrus thought to himself. Then it occurred to him: He probably has nowhere else to sleep with all these monsters in our house.

He looks so perfect...

Papyrus noticed he was staring. He quickly pulled his gaze away and left Mettaton to charge.

"Darling, you don't have to leave~"

The skeleton flinched at the sudden voice. "Y-You're awake?" He stammered.

Mettaton's pink eyes fluttered open. "I've been awake for quite a while, Papy dear." He smiled up at him while unplugging his charger.

Papyrus began to relax a bit as Mettaton stood up from the floor. He was now standing by his side.

"Let's go downstairs, shall we?" Mettaton suggested. Papyrus nodded.

"Onward!" He shouted while pointing towards the door. That was a bit loud, he realized...

Mettaton just giggled and headed for the staircase, Papyrus following him quietly. The whole house was dark, actually. No one else was going to be awake for at least an hour or two.

"Let's watch the news!" Papyrus grabbed the remote to turn on the TV. He flipped through the channels until he reached the news. As usual, it was still focused on the arrival of the monsters and those determination tests.

Mettaton and Papyrus relaxed on the couch, watching the screen intently.

Missing monster report! A monster by the name of Temmie was stolen by determination testers.

The television showed a short and blurry clip of a Temmie disappearing into the back of a truck.

Papyrus's eyes clouded with fear. "Mettaton, will that happen to us?"

Mettaton narrowed his eyes and turned to him with a passionate expression. "No, darling, I won't let them." He pecked his cheekbone lightly, causing Papyrus to shrink back and blush like crazy.

There was a quiet giggle from above them somewhere. The skeleton and the robot both spun around at the same exact time. There was Frisk, peeking down at them from upstairs.

They squealed excitedly and crawled back. Mettaton got onto his knees and peered up at the human playfully. "What do you think you're doing, gorgeous?"

"Ah, Human-Frisk, you are awake! It is customary that I prepare you my great breakfast spaghetti!" Papyrus declared. He got up from the couch and headed for the kitchen. Like always, there was an extra bag or two of pasta being stored in the fridge. Papyrus grabbed one and dumped out the spaghetti into a bowl.

Mettaton had lifted Frisk from upstairs to the couch. The human's eyes were uncertain as they watched Papyrus preparing breakfast.

A few moments later, Papyrus proudly carried the spaghetti over to Frisk. Mettaton noticed something was missing, though...

"Papyrus, dear, you can't have pasta without MTT brand spaghetti sauce!" He reminded him.

Papyrus gasped in pure shock, that almost sounded sarcastic, but wasn't. "Mettaton, how could I forget?!" He rushed back over to the kitchen and deposited a whole jar of MTT Brand tomato sauce in the bowl.

"Now, prepare your tastebuds for Master Chef Papyrus's great masterpiece, human!" Papyrus announced as he set the bowl in front of Frisk.

Frisk stared at the spaghetti nervously. They quickly thanked Papyrus, cautiously grabbed the bowl, and carried it upstairs to... Sans's room? There was the sound of a door creaking open, then a quiet click.

It was silent after that.

Papyrus decided to break the silence and grinned. "How sweet of them to share with Sans! Don't you agree, Mettaton?" But Mettaton was lost in his own thoughts, staring at Papyrus with a slight smile on his face. "Mettaton?"

The robot blinked in surprise. He felt his cheeks begin to heat up a bit, and looked away. "Papy, c-can I ask you something?"

"Of course, Mettaton!" Papyrus smiled sweetly. "Anything for you!"

Mettaton patted the empty space on the couch beside him. "Sit down." So, Papyrus sat. Mettaton took a deep breath, putting a serious look on his face. "Papyrus, I really want to go on a date with you."

Papyrus's eyes widened and his whole face was glowing bright orange. "Wowie..." He suddenly went limp. His body landed on the green pillows with a thump. Mettaton didn't know whether to be frightened or not. He sighed, realizing what he had just done.

"Great, I just made him faint." He muttered underneath his breath. "I have the feeling I'm in for a bad time."

Hiya, Rainie here! Yep, another slightly short chapter... But it's not the shortest I've ever written, so I guess I'm proud of that. Anyways, get ready for some suspense in the next chapter :3
