Chapter 11

Hiya fellow Papyton shippers, just a quick note! This chapter will include my OC. I promise you, though, it won't interfere at all with the storyline. Happy reading!!

Mettaton woke up, fully charged, on his bed. This doesn't feel right. The room was dark and, glancing over at the window, he realized it was nighttime.

I feel like I should be remembering something, but...

He ruffled his hair, which he noticed wasn't soft and perfect like it always was: Instead, it felt tangled and matted, almost as if he had jumped out the back of a van. Wait...

Suddenly, the memories came flooding in. The date, the van, and Papyrus... Papyrus, who was probably being tested with determination right at that moment. Mettaton tensed. That was right. He had expected Papyrus to leap out of the van after him, but he just couldn't.

...But hadn't I run out of battery life on the side of the road? Then who had brought him back here?

Mettaton pushed the thought to the side. Right now, that didn't matter; What really mattered was Papyrus. He nearly flew out of bed, for once not minding his appearance, and sprinted down the hallway.

~This timeskip fills you with DETERMINATION!! You tell Mettaton to stay determined, too.~

This is it. Mettaton was absolutely sure that this exact place was where he had leapt out of the van, Papyrus vanishing from sight. But he knew he wasn't there to relive that memory; Right then, that was the last thing in his mind, and the very top priority being Papyrus.

The city streets were silent. Having gotten used to surface life, Mettaton no longer flinched at the sight of an approaching car, and now it was all just normal. This night, however, that was not at all the case. Mettaton found the silence almost disturbing.

Click. Click. Click.

Mettaton paused, noticing his boots were giving him away. For some reason, he always thought that sound was just fabulous, but now... Now, it was weird, because he didn't want anyone to know he was coming. He proceeded with extra care. If the humans found out he was on another rescue mission, he'd probably be next on the determination list.

He thought as he strolled down the sidewalk. How could a robot be injected with that stuff, anyway? Hmm, good topic...

Suddenly, a soft gasp echoed down an alleyway. Mettaton froze. He then allowed the glowing of his pink soul to dim, since anyone could be watching. It weakened him a bit, but if it meant remaining hidden from whatever was out there, that was just fine to Mettaton.

It was silent for the next few moments. The robot still wasn't convinced that it was alright to keep going, so he stepped closer to the brick wall of the nearby buildings. He still knew he was vulnerable, though; his bright pink chest plate and boots stuck out against the gloomy color scheme of the night. Suddenly, a grey, furry head popped out of the alley in front of him.

It was a wolf monster. She was young, in her early teens by the look of it, her mismatched blue and green eyes both shocked and terrified. The purple sweater she was wearing had stripes the exact color of her eyes.

"Oh, gosh!" She exclaimed in a whisper, covering her mouth with her paws. Her tail swished behind her excitedly. "If only Flamie were here to see this!"

The wolf noticed Mettaton staring at her as if to say, "I don't have time for this". She shuffled her paws uncomfortably. "I-I can get out of your way, I-I understand that you've probably got better things to do..."

Mettaton shook his head, suddenly feeling bad for the little monster. "It's alright darling, it's just that..." He remembered there was something he had to do. "It's just that my boyfriend's been snatched by humans. That's all."

At the word boyfriend, the wolf's ears perked. She stared at the ground as if somewhat disappointed.

"I hope to see you later, darling, but after this is all taken care of." Mettaton strutted past her hurriedly.

"W-Wait, Mettaton!" The wolf spun around and took him by the arm. "You mentioned humans... R-Right?" She noticed Mettaton didn't respond right away. "I-I apologize, I must've misheard you, I'm just wasting your time, I'll just-"

"Ohhh, YES!!" Mettaton exclaimed, making her flinch in sudden surprise. "Yes, humans! Could you tell me where they've set up their base, sweetie?"

The young wolf monster nodded, gushing at his words of praise. "Th-They're set up just a few alleys down the street! If I remember correctly, three, but I'm always getting things mixed up, so maybe-"

Mettaton wrapped his arms around her and spun her in circles until he was dizzy. "Thank you so much, darling! I never forget a fan!" As he set her down, a question sprouted in his mind. "What's your name, dear?"

"Rainie!" The wolf burst out. "I-It's Rainie." She raised her head to catch one last glimpse of him, but Mettaton was already sprinting down the sidewalk.

Just three alleys down the street. Got it.  Before he really knew it, Mettaton had counted three alleys. The third one was obviously darker and more secluded than the rest. It was littered with dried up leaves, which Mettaton had no idea how they really got there in a place like this, and had a few random puddles of water scattered about here and there. Must've been from the recent rain.

Mettaton cautiously stepped around the puddles. The deeper into the alley he went, the more lost he felt in the darkness. But, as he glanced up at the sky, he saw the moon, and that made him feel a little better.

Suddenly, Mettaton tripped. He wasn't sure what it was exactly, but it had made him land face first in a place that just felt different somehow. He sat up shakily, and, ruffling his hair, he locked eyes with a face he knew too well. His metallic heart skipped a beat.

"Mettaton!"

Ohhh yess! Hiya, Rainie here, and I hope you enjoyed chapter eleven! (Or is it twelve?) I apologize for the big delay. School stuff, y'know? Alright, well, I guess you'll have to wait another month or so for the next chapter. Or a week? Who knows, I just promise you, though, there will be some fun in the next chapter! bOI!!
