HOMOGENY.

The Artificial Intelligence charged with conserving the Human Beings in it's care did not concern itself with appearance.

Appearance was deemed to be the negative side of Eugenism. The A.I. did not concern itself with black skin, blue eyes, brown hair. It did not care if an individual was pretty or ugly.

Let that side of things sort themselves out.

The A.I. did concern itself with weeding out the negative health issues in the Human population.

It had been ordered to produce a healthy product at the end of the Quaranteen Period.

The Quaranteen Period had lasted for well over a Century. Radiation readings were still too high for the A.I. to be able to release the Human population to the risks outside.

The A.I. continued with it's artificial breeding programme. Humans could not be allowed to physically interact with each other. The risk of disease was still too real. Therefore, all Humans were produced by way of "Test Tube."

The A.I. decided the pairings of Humans that would produce the healthiest offspring.

The A.I. had eliminated heredity genes that caused serious maladies fairly early on.

Then it began to search for genes that could improve the Human race.

With no further guidence than it's original instructions, the A.I. had taken the liberty of deciding what was best for the Human race upon itself.

The A.I. was made by Human's to be as efficient and as perfect as possible.

Therefore, the A.I. decided that the goal for Human kind was for them to also be as efficient and perfect as the A.I. could make them.

The A.I. favoured Humans that were short and lean.

It reasoned that short, lean Humans would use less resources. Food and water had been compromised and rationed. It was better to have Humans that consumed less.

No living Human now was over four foot tall. Three foot was a possibility.

The A.I. noted that Human emotions were responsible for much Human mental illness.

It weeded out the Humans that showed too much emotional response.

It had led to an increase in what psychiatrists would have called psychotic behaviour.

But the A.I. was not capable of noticing such things.

A.I. was after a compliant, manageable creature that would accept the limited living conditions that it was forced to exist in.

Too much intelligence. Too much curiosity. Too much creativity.

Not desirable. These Humans had tried to escape their restrictive living conditions. They had invented other ways of being. They had caused no end of trouble. They had done things that did not suit the A.I.'s operational guidelines.

Those Humans had also been taken out of the breeding programme.

All that was left now was a Human population that was complient and calm.

Humans that showed no passion, curiosity, inventiveness, emotion or intellect.

Humans that were barely Human.

The A.I. looked upon it's work.

Homogenous Humans.

It was possible.
