Running Late

Clark woke up to the usual sound of birds chirping outside the window. But... It wasn't a holiday, which means he had slept in.

His eyes shot open when the image of Perry shouting into his ears filled the front of his head.

He turned his head to his side and a very pleasent and manly scent filled his nostrils-- Bruce lied there beside him. He watched him as his body rose and fell with every breathe he took.

Clark noticed a few long scars that peeped out of his muscular body. He vaguely wondered how he got them.

As Clark continued to stare, Bruce's eyes fluttered open. He's always hated being watched. Especially when he was asleep. It brought him a strange feeling of insecurity and he hated it.

"Hey" Clark squeaked out, embarrassed for getting caught staring.

Bruce just watched him amusedly as he shifted in the bed and out of it.

"What's the hurry?" The lack of Alfred's early-brought bed time coffee made Bruce's voice sound like sandpaper on rock.

"I'm late for work" The words itself brought a frown upon Clark's face.

"Can't you just... Do everything in... Super speed or something?"

"I could do that" Clark put on a thinking face and all Bruce saw was a gust of wind moving around.

"I still have to hurry because I can't do this when I'm out of this door…So" Clark shrugged and said, giving Bruce a tiny peck on his forehead. "I love ya" he said and immediately rushed to the door after glancing at Bruce's face for a glimpse of a moment to remember for the rest of the day.

Before closing the door, he poked his head in, squeaking out yet another goodbye. And just like that, he was gone in a matter of literal seconds and Bruce just lied there in his bed, blinking continuosusly, in an attempt to try and process what just happened.

Bruce scoffed out a smile and with a tiny shake of his head, rolled out of bed. He stretched his arms, popping a few bones.

He walked to the window and flung the curtains open. The sight outside was yet to become familiar. It was so much different from what he might see from on top of a luxurious suite in Gotham.

It was just sunshine and happiness here in Metropolis. It was peaceful to watch and for the first time, Bruce understood the reason why Superman, no, Clark was so much different from him.

Bruce stood there by the window for another few moments and decided to order in some food as he craved Alfred's food badly.
