Chapter 37: Serendipity

"Marley wakie wakie."

"5 more minutes mom. " I mumbled then I shot up when I realised what I had said.

Brody was standing over my bed and I put my head in my hands when I realised I had thought about my mom. I hadn't dreamt about her since I moved away and now the dreams are back.

"Sorry Brody." I groaned.

"Don't be." Brody smiled and rubbed my back. "It's 5 Marls, there's hot water and Sarah-Jayne left a dress and heels by for you for your dinner with Robbie."

"Thank you Brody." I smiled weakly then I stepped out of bed and made my way towards the bathroom.

"You were talking in your sleep again." Brody stopped me and i turned around to him.

"What did I say?" I asked worried.

"You were calling my name, so I stayed with you." Brody replied.

"Thank you." I smiled at Brody then turned back around and walked into the bathroom.

I was very tired.... I needed that sleep and more. I didn't know why I was calling out for Brody in my sleep but I'm glad he stayed with me. It meant a lot he still cared to do that kind of stuff for me.

Anyway now I jumped into the shower and washed my entire body then I jumped out and began to do my hair. After drying it I simply curled it until it fell into long curly locks. With a towel wrapped around me I walked back into my bedroom which was now empty and found the dress Sarah-Jayne had left me. It was a beautiful white skater dress with a black belt and black heels and a black statement necklace.

I quickly changed into the outfit and then I did my makeup which didn't take long and now I was finished. It was just coming up to 6 as well. I grabbed my things and left my room then went down the stairs to find Robbie. I found him in the living room with Sean, Ryan, Jake, Sarah-Jayne and Brody.

"Whoa." Ryan drooled over me.

"It's Sarah-Jayne's outfit." I laughed holding up my hands. "You ready Robbie?"

"Definitely." Robbie jumped up and to my side.

"Bye guys, we won't be home late." I told the others then Robbie and I left the house.

Robbie escorted me to his car and opened the door for me like the gentleman he always is. Then he joined me and set the restaurant details into the SAT navigation and followed the directions.

"So how was your day?" I asked Robbie.

"Good. My team won obviously." Robbie gloated. "Hey marls, who's Chase?"

Chase?! How does Robbie know Chase? Oh no I bet he met him today....

"Why do you ask?" I questioned.

"He some how found out you and I were close and he came up to me and started asking me about you." Robbie replied. "I didn't tell him much, so who is he?"

"I guess we had a thing when I first came here then I found a few things out about him that I didn't like. He's not a good person." I told Robbie.

"He said he wanted to see you again." Robbie told me.

"That's not happening. Brody would never let that happen." I told Robbie.

"What's Brody got to do with it?"Robbie asked getting a little jealous.

"He just doesn't like Chase very much either." I shrugged.

Robbie didn't push the subject and so we sat in silence all the way to the restaurant.

When we got to the restaurant Robbie escorted me inside and to our table.

"I'm glad we're doing this." Robbie smiled at me.

"Me too."I smiled back and started flipping through the menu.

"It's going to be weird when I go back home tomorrow. You know I'm used to spending every minute of the day with you and I guess I'll just miss you." Robbie spoke and I set my menu down giving him my full attention.

"I'll miss you too Robbie." I smiled weakly. "It will be weird now that I think about it. Just promise you won't find a new best friend while I'm here."

"You don't have to worry about that."He smiled. "I know you've to stay. I just wish I could stay with you."

"It's not forever Robbie. I'll ring you everyday, you'll be fine without me." I tried to assure him.

"I have to ask Marley-Rose,  what's happening between you and Brody?" Robbie asked me causing me to shift uncomfortable.

"We're friends." I tried to avoid going into too much detail about the subject however I knew Robbie wanted more than that.

"Will you and him get back together?" Robbie asked me.

"Robbie I don't know what's going to happen." I sighed looking at my best friend. "I know I love him. I really want to be the girl that doesn't need to be in a relationship but I don't think I know how too. I've always been in serious relationships, Brody, JC. I like knowing I can have someone like that to talk to. For now though I'm focusing on other things and not my relationship status."

"Good for you Marley-Rose." Robbie smiled then a waitress came to take our order.

*********************

"So I'll not see you a christmas?" Robbie asked me over our dinner.

"Probably not." I sighed.

"Then here." He smiled and set a gift wrap present in front of me.

"Robbie what did you go and do." I chuckled lifting up the present.

I opened the box and inside found a beautiful enchanting gold bracelet with a heart on it. It wasn't big, or over the top, it was simple and beautiful.

"I love it." I gasped. "I love you."

"I love you too Marls. The last 6 weeks have been the best. Here let me help you put it on." Robbie offered then latched the bracelet around my wrist for me.

"Thanks Robbie. You know we'll be friends forever, I'm not letting you go." I promised.

"Good." Robbie smiled.

*************

"You coming up honey?" Robbie yawned clinging onto the staircase banister to support him.

"Yeah just give me a few minutes." I smiled and he nodded then continued up the stairs to bed.

It was pretty late and Robbie was wrecked but I wasn't. I opened the living room door to see if anyone was still up and saw Jake and Brody were still there playing xbox.

"Boys, bed." I told them.

"Spoil sport." Jake moaned.

"Jake you've school tomorrow." I walked over to the TV and switched it off for them. "Bed."

Jake let out a loud dramatic sigh then stood from the sofa taking a long overdue stretch.

"Right I'll see you guys tomorrow. Marley lock the door when Brody leaves." Jake yawned then disappeared out of the room leaving Brody and I alone.

"Up." I reached my hands to Brody which he took then I pulled him up from the sofa and he almost fell on top of me.

I let go of Brody's hands then left the room and went into the kicthen. Brody followed me and jumped up onto the table counter as I got a drink of milk.

"So how was the meal?" Brody asked swinging his legs.

"Yeah it was nice, I like getting that time with Robbie." I nodded then drunk from my glass.

"Great. So I'll pick you up at 10 tomorrow?"Brody asked.

"What for?" I asked back with a puzzled look on my face.

"Our tattoos." Brody replied.

"But Brody I don't have mine drawn up yet." I told him.

"It's ok." He smiled. "It's rang my tattoo artist and told him what you wanted so he drew it up ready for tomorrow and you can add anything extra you want."

"You're unbelievable." I laughed.

"I think the phrase you're looking for is thank you." Brody smirked.

"Thank you." I laughed again then slapped his leg. "You really do have everything planned out don't you?"

"Marley-Rose Summers I plan on making the most of the time I have with you." Brody smirked.

"Well ok then." I laughed. "I'll see you tomorrow."

Brody jumped down of the counter and kissed my forehead then made his way out of the house. After he left I locked all the doors and went up to my room. Inside my room I found Robbie was already fast asleep in my bed. As I looked down at him I realised just how much I actually would miss him. He was a good friend but I know things won't change between us.

I went into the bathroom and changed into pyjamas then joined Robbie in bed.
