Chapter 33: Being the best

I stood and stared out my bedroom window looking at Brody's room but only it wasn't his anymore,  he had switched rooms. I guess I can understand him switching rooms, I would have did it but Brody's a lot stronger than I am. I was just excited to see him again today, to see all them again. It felt so good to wake up here, it used to be one of my favourite things, waking up and looking out my window and seeing Brody or else waking up beside him.

It was early now, it's funny how when I went away I slept in everyday and now I'm back here I'm up early again. There wasn't a sound in the house, even Robbie wasn't awake and he's an early riser. On his own Robbie wouldn't have woken up but he heard me moving around the room and so he opened his eyes a tiny but looking so tired.

"Am I dreaming?" Robbie yawned. "You're never up early, is everything ok?"

"Yeah I'm just thinking." I smiled at him and walked over to his side of the bed then bent down beside him and ran my fingers through his hair. "You go back to sleep, I'm going to go for a run."

"Ok well be careful." Robbie yawned then closed his eyes and went straight back to sleep.

I smiled at my sleeping best friend then stood up and went to my closet. I couldn't really find much clothes but there was a few running outfits. I slipped into my running clothes, running leggings and a sports top then I put my runners on and tied my hair up. I took my phone, putting my earphones in then I left the room. I jogged down the stairs and into the kicthen where I got a bottle of water then left the house.

I figured I was allowed to run now, my weight was getting better and I was getting better in general so I thought it was now safe to run. I did it back home and if didn't have an effect on me. I loved it, if was all I wanted to do, it helps me forget about the world around me.

The sun was just rising when I left the house. I bent down and tightened my shoe laces and when I looked up I looked over at Brody's house where I saw him out doing the same thing. He was in his running gear too, that was weird. He looked up at me and smiled then jogged over to me.

"Morning." He smiled. "Are you going for a run?"

"Yeah, you?" I asked back.

"Yeah." He replied. "Hey, is it ok for you to run?"

"It's fine Brody,  you've probably noticed I've put some weight on so running won't effect my body as much as it used to." I replied.

"I hadn't, noticed. I just thought you got even more beautiful." He smiled. "So do you want to run together?"

"You do remember I'm faster than you right." I laughed.

"Maybe you used to be." He smirked. "Let's go."

I accepted his challenge and the two of us started off our run. We took it easy to begin with.

"So Robbie didn't want to join you on a run?" Brody asked me as we ran.

"I don't care what anybody says, even if he is the star football player, he's a lazy ass." I laughed.

"So he's the star football player?" Brody asked.

"And soccer and basketball, and he's president of the French club and newspaper." I told Brody. "And he's an honour student."

"So he's perfect?" Brody asked.

"Hell no! He's afraid of dogs, allergic to cats, sucks at cooking and cleaning and he doesn't like the lion king." I told Brody.

"So he's the opposite of you?" Brody asked.

"Yeah but he's kind of the female version of me as well." I laughed. "We are very alike."

"I'm glad he makes you happy. " Brody sighed.

I got what was happening, it wasn't hard to guess. Brody was jealous but he was trying to be mature about it. He had no reason to be jealous of Robbie, Robbie's my best friend but that's it. He always was the jealous type though.

"Things aren't like that with Robbie,  you know that Brody." I sighed.

"Yeah sorry." He apologised. "I guess I still get jealous."

"It's fine. I was feeling the same way when I heard about you and Taylor." I told him.

"I wouldn't go near her Marls, she's no you." He told me

It was clear he still had a lot of feelings for me... I thought when he dumped me he would just forget about me and move on straight away but he hasn't.

"So what have you been doing the last six weeks?" I asked him.

"Running, everyday, twice a day and I go to the gym four times a week." He replied. "I've been putting a lot of work in."

"Why?" I asked him.

"So I can beat you." He smirked. "And I just want to be the best at it, not to sound cocky but like running is one of the things I'm good at and I want to keep being the good at it."

"I still reckon I'm better." I laughed. "I did beat you before."

"Rematch?" Brody suggested. "To the park, fastest wins."

"Oh you're so on." I smirked.

"Ok. Ready? Go!" Brody exclaimed then we both took of sprinting.

Brody and I ran beside each other at our full potential speed. He was getting ahead of me and I tried not to look at him cause he might distract me so I kept focused straight ahead. I felt under a lot of pressure, Brody had gotten faster either that or I've been slacking.

Brody and I ran as fast as we could for a few minutes before we saw the park that we were approaching and we both gave it our all. We were only a few seconds away from it and Brody got ahead of me and he won... He beat me... I didn't know how to feel, well I was surprised of course but annoyed at myself too. How did he beat me?

"Yes!" Brody exclaimed. "I knew I'd win."

"Ok so I'm a bit out of practise." I shrugged. "That doesn't mean you're faster than me though!"

"It kinda does Marls." Brody laughed. "What happened to you Marls? I thought cheerleaders were supposed to be fast."

"I am fast!" I pushed him. "I guess I just need a little more training."

"My dad will be so proud I beat you." Brody smirked.

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes. "I'm gonna work my butt off so I can beat you again."

"Ok then we'll train together." Brody smiled.

"Can Robbie train with us too?" I asked him and his smile faded.

"Sure." He shrugged. "Come on, we'll just walk back."

I knew asking about Robbie would have annoyed Brody but I needed to ask. Robbie is staying here to help me so the least I can do is make him feel included whenever he's here.

"So what's the plan?" Brody asked next. "What are we doing together, getting them all together, throwing them into the room and locking the door until they become friends again?"

"Oh no, I'm going to see Danny." I replied.

"Your social worker and shrink?" He asked me.

"He's not my social worker or my shrink anymore." I shrugged. "I haven't seen him in a while so we're going for lunch and maybe I can get his advice on some of the things that are going on around here. So will you come?"

"Will Robbie be going too?" Brody asked me.

"No." I replied. "I don't want to be putting too much on Robbie, he doesn't know Danny and I don't think he could handle meeting him."

"Then I'd love to go." Brody smiled.

"Great." I smiled back at him. "I just hope Sarah-Jayne brought me clothes!"

"Well I can drive you back to your brothers during the week and you can get some clothes." Brody offered.

"Don't you have school?" I asked him.

"Marls it wouldn't be the first time I've skipped school." Brody laughed.

"Brody I don't what you missing school for me." I sighed.

"Marley don't worry, I've did all my work." He smiled.

While I was looking at Brody I realised something very true... He was different. Brody was the badboy, he didn't play by the rules, he didn't care about school or anything and now everything has changed. I knew Brody always had a good heart but now he's showing everybody who he really is, the good him.

"So you're interested in school now?" I asked him.

"Yeah well I need to focus on my future." He replied.

"Oh yeah? What do you want to do?" I questioned him further.

"I want to study medicine." Brody took me completely off guard. I had no idea he was ever interested in medicine.  "I know it will be a lot of work but I want to help people."

"Brody I think that's great." I smiled.

"I really want to work with troubled  youth too, I don't want what happened Ally to happen anybody else." Brody told me. "So what do you want to do?"

"Well of course I still want to be a Princess but I was also thinking about Law actually." I told him.

"A Princess Lawyer? It suits you." Brody laughed. "I didn't know you wanted to be like the rest of your family."

"I don't. I want to be an environmental lawyer " I told him. "Save the planet and all."

"Whoa." Brody smiled. "Who would have guessed that Marley-Rose Summers and Brody Morgan, the two most troublesome students are actually interested in serious professional careers."

"I know, we'll prove them wrong Brody, the people that doubted us." I stated.

"I know we will Marls and we'll do it together." He smiled back.

Brody and I reached the Callaghan house again and we went our separate ways. When I got inside the house, it was so alive, I could tell by all the screeching that all the boys were up.

"Marls is that you?!" Jake yelled from the kitchen.

I walked into the kicthen were I saw everybody was there, even Sarah-Jayne and Robbie.

"Hey guys. S-J did you stay the night?" I asked Sarah-Jayne.

"Yeah but I got up early and went home to get you some clothes. I left them in your room." She smiled.

"Aww thank you!" I exclaimed and hugged her.

"So what are you doing today?" Jake asked me.

"Well I'm going to meet an old friend with Brody so will you guys look after Robbie?" I asked them.

"Yeah Marls." Jeremy smiled.

"Hey Marls have you rang Ty yet?" Zayn asked.

"Not exactly." I bit my lip.

"He's going to be pissed." Jake laughed then everybody else starts laughing. I knew he was going to be pissed.

"I can handle him, well I'm going to go take a shower and then Brody and I will head off." I told them all.

They and all replied with grunts or moans so I just turned around and went up to my room. I jumped into the shower and washed my hair thoroughly, taking my time. After I finished washing my hair I got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my body then began to dry my hair. I curled my hair and added some makeup then walked back into the bedroom. I lifted the bag Sarah-Jayne had left me and i started going through it. Her clothing taste was very similar to mine so naturally I liked the clothes she picked for me.

I lifted out a pair of skinny jeans and a burgundy jumper and brown knee high boots. It was cold outside as it was nearly Christmas so I thought this would keep me warm enough.

Lastly I lifted my phone and purse then I headed back downstairs. When I got downstairs it was only Robbie,  Jake and Sarah-Jayne left.

"You look beautiful." Robbie smiled at me.

"Thank you." I blushed. "So what are you guys gonna do today?"

"Me and Jake and taking Robbie out for a football game and a milkshake." Sarah-Jayne replied.

"Oh well have fun, I'll see you guys later." I smiled then headed to the front door.

I walked outside and then skipped over to Brody's house. I didn't even need to knock the door because Brody opened it for me and came out wearing darks jeans, a tight grey jumper and black combat boots. He looked memorising like he always did, I still couldn't believe that he was mine once.

"Hey." I smiled.

"Hey you." He smirked. "So I'm guessing we're taking my car?"

"Yep." I smiled widely. "The cafe's called smallwood cafe."

"Yeah I know where it is. Let's go." He smiled.

Brody and I got into his car together then he began driving to the cafe to meet Daniel. I was so excited to see Danny again, I missed him a lot.

"So are you looking forward to seeing Daniel?" Brody asked me.

"Aww so much!! He's just one of the many people I've missed." I replied.

"So you're glad to be back?" Brody asked me.

"Yeah I am. It just feels right here. I know things with our group are a little broken right now but we can fix things and it'll be just like old times when we were all inseparable." I smiled thinking about a few months ago.

"And then you'll leave?" Brody asked me. "You are only staying until things get better aren't you?"

"That's what I told Robbie." I shrugged. "But I don't know. I want to be here but I love my new life and I can't leave Tyler or Robbie or even JC."

"You're stuck between two world's? " Brody stated.

"Exactly." I sighed. "I guess I'll just figure it out as I go along."

"Well I think we should all just spend as much time with you as we can." Brody smiled. "I know I have my week with you planned out."

"Oh really? Are you going to fill me in?" I laughed.

"Well sometime I want you to come with me so I can get a new tattoo, then I plan on taking you to your brothers to get clothes, then you and I are going to go Christmas shopping for everyone because I desperately need help, oh and my parents want you over for a meal again." Brody explained to me.

I was ok with doing most of them things except for dinner with his parents again.  His parents are lovely but it's just that we aren't together anymore and it might be awkward.

"Brody this isn't weird is it?" I asked him asking about our relationship.

"No, I don't think it is, sure we're just friends." He shrugged.

Yeah... "Just Friends"... I hated that we were just friends when we used to be each others everything. I don't want to start having feelings for Brody again but they never went away, they were always there.

"I want a new tattoo too." I smiled. "What are you getting?"

"A half sleeve on my left arm of like a black forest that goes from my wrist to my elbow, all away round my arm like. What about you?" Brody asked me.

"A rib tattoo a vintage pocket watch and growing out of the middle of it I want roses and branches and birds and I want them spreading around the pocket watch in a beautiful garden." I replied in detail.

"That's sounds great." Brody smiled.

"Tyler doesn't think so." I sighed. "I should really ring him."

"Yeah you probably should. Put it on speaker so I can hear you getting your ass shouted off." Brody smirked.

I rolled my eyes then took my phone out and rang Tyler and I did put it on loudspeaker for Brody to listen. We both knew how the conversation was going to go anyway. The phone was o to ringing for a few short seconds before Tyler immediately answered.

"Marley-Rose!" Tyler sighed.  "Where are you? Are you still at Quinns cause I think you should come home now."

"I'm not at Quinns." I sighed.

"Are you with Robbie?" He asked.

"Kinda." I hesitated.

"Well what's going on Marls?" Ty asked.

"Ty Robbie and I went to Jakes birthday party last night..." I told him trying to ease him I to what I was going to tell him.

"You what?! And you didn't tell me?!" Tyler exclaimed down the phone.

"Ty he's my cousin and one of my best friends and it was his eighteenth and Matty wanted to see me and I wanted to see them all again. I'm sorry but I had to go." I rambled on.

"Where did you stay last night?" He asked.

"At the Callaghans." I replied chewing on my lip nervously.

"Marley where are you now?" Ty asked me.

"Still here." I hesitated. "I'm with Brody."

"I don't believe this." Tyler sighed. "Marley-Rose get your ass into Robbies car and get him to drive you home now!"

"Ty I am home." I finally said. I was finding the next part hard to come out with but birdy rubbed my back comfortingly and gave me the confidence I needed. "Tyler I'm staying here. I have a few things to do and because it's Christmas break soon I don't have to worry about missing so much school. There are some things here that I have to do, you don't understand but I'm not going back just yet."

"I don't believe what I'm hearing!  Get your ass home now Marley-Rose! You can't stay there. I am your legal guardian now so you'll do as I say and come home. You're being stubborn and childish and attention  seeking so stop it and come back now!" Tyler yelled harshly down the phone at me.

"No." I refused then hung up on him.

I put my head in my hands and groaned at how awful that went. I expected it but still it felt horrible. Brody parked the car at the cafe while I was still moping and he rubbed my back again which felt so good.

"Marls you had to do it." Brody tried to make me feel better. "I know Ty's pissed but he should have seen it coming, this is wear you belong. Don't feel bad Marls."

"He's gonna kill me." I groaned.

"Just try not to think about it. Look we're going to see Danny now, smile princess." Brody smiled at me and actually made me smile as well.

So we both got out of the car and went to see Danny!
