Epilogue

A/N: I made a mistake and it wouldn't change so I had to reupload this, I'm sorry! the song I will be using in this chapter is You Can Be King Again by: Lauren Aquilina, and in some cases the title is just King. I hope you enjoy the last chapter, and please read the A/N in the next post.

---------TEN YEARS LATER----------

Your P.O.V

"Eliot!" I exclaimed as he walked into the house after his day at work.

I wiped my hands on my jeans and embraced him, to which he returned the gesture with a chuckle.

I pulled back and looked at his face. His features had grown much sharper and he had a faint stubble on his chin as well as deeper blue eyes.

He was incredibly handsome, and some people referred to him as "young Garroth".

"Hey Eliot!" Travis said from behind us, and I pulled away from Eliot so he and Travis could do their weird 'bro-hug' thing.

Clarissa came running down the stairs, her (H/C) ponytails swinging around and her emerald green eyes glistening with happiness.

"Ewiot!" She exclaimed with her five year old accent and hugged his legs.

He laughed and crouched to her level before hugging her back.

"How was work? Any cute girls?" Travis asked.

He still hasn't changed.

"And if there were, what does that have to do with you?" I asked as I crossed my arms under my chest.

"Nothing! I just wanna know if I taught my boy well enough!" Travis exclaimed, making Eliot laugh.

"Nah, just the guys. I don't know one girl that actually took up guarding yet." Eliot replied, and Travis "thoughtfully" nodded.

I rolled my eyes and went back to the kitchen trying to finish dinner.

"So what's for dinner again?" Travis asked for the fiftieth time today.

"Chicken and stew and if you ask one more time I will dump this boiling water on your head." I replied.

"Feisty~" he purred, making my face heat up.

"We have children present!" Eliot explained as he covered Clarissa's eyes.

We all laughed at the joke, and even though Clarissa didn't understand, she laughed too. That only concluded in more laughter.

When I finished, it was almost sundown. I set Clarissa up in her high chair and Eliot sat next to Travis as I sat between Travis and Clarissa.

I looked at the five year old, and she pouted at the food I made.

"I wanted cookies momma!" She grumbled, and I sighed.

"Cookies are for dessert, not dinner." I replied, and she made a 'hmph' sound.

"I'm not eating it!" She announced as she turned away.

Sassy little- ahem.

"Okay. I guess you won't get any cookies after all." I said as I took a spoonful of my soup and drank it, the familiar chicken and vegetable taste washing over my taste buds.

I vaguely remembered the day I started taking up cooking lessons with Kawaii~chan. All I remember is the frying pan that ended up hanging from the ceiling because it went through it, the fire, the burnt chicken, and the ruined oven.

Sorry Kawaii~chan.

"Cookies?!" She cried out as she whipped back around.

"You get cookies after dinner if you eat all your chicken." Travis said as he noticed what Clarissa was doing.

Her eyes widened as she stared at her food.

With a resentful sigh, he grabbed her spoon, and took a hesitant taste. I watched as her eyes widened and she grabbed the bowl by the sides and started to drink it straight from the dish.

I sweat dropped and so did Eliot and Travis as she gulped down the dinner, and then she ate her chicken like a starved wolf.

Okay then.

"That was good momma!" She exclaimed, and I sighed remembering how she did this every night, and she ended up liking the dish EVERY time.

"I'm glad. Time for cookies." I said as I got up and grabbed the jar.

I set it down next to her an she practically dived into the jar as she started to eat the cookies as if the dinner never happened and she hadn't eaten in days.

When I finally pried her away from the jar, there was nothing left but a couple crumbs.

I pouted, because I really wanted a cookie.

"She gets it from her mom." Travis said to Eliot as I held Clarissa by the back of her shirt, restraining the child from licking the crumbs off the inside of the jar.

I nodded and so did Eliot.

The rest of the dinner was filled with details about Eliot's day at work, my struggles with Clarissa, and a few jokes were sprinkled in, one being when Eliot talked about the prank they pulled on the head guard.

"You should've seen his face when the floor fell from beneath him! And the dude on the floor under him said the funniest thing! He said, 'Nice of you to drop by'!" Eliot finished with tears in his eyes. "The head guards fine, but it was hilarious!" He cried out between laughter.

This made Travis burst out laughing, and I chuckled as well.

By then, Clarissa was asleep in her high chair, and she was also slipping.

I chuckled as I picked her up from under her shoulders and held her in my arms.

"I'm gonna take her to bed. Don't do anything I wouldn't do." I said. "Well there go my plans!" Travis sarcastically said.

I rolled my eyes and laughed as I took Clarissa upstairs.

When I got to her room, I laid her on her mattress, but sadly, by then, she started to stir, and her eyes fluttered open.

"Oh! Hey sweetie!" I exclaimed as I started sweating.

"Momma..." she trailed off as she held my hand. "Sing me a song." She demanded in a tired voice.

"Huh?" I said, not processing what she had just said.

"I wanna hear you sing momma." She said, her eyes refusing to close.

"But I'm not good!" I whispered. "Then I'll waugh when you're done. But I fink you'll sound pwetty." She said.

I sighed and looked out her window as my mouth opened.

"You're alone, you're on your own, so what? Have you, gone blind? Have you, forgotten what you have and what is yours? Glass half empty, glass half full, well either way, you won't be going thirsty. Count your blessings, not your flaws..." the words tumbled out of my mouth in a rhythmic fashion, my vocal chords in tune with the words, and I tried my hardest, probably stinking in the process, but when I finished and looked back at the girl, she was asleep.

I tilted my head in confusion, clearly curious as to how the child managed to fall asleep to my scratchy voice.

I walked downstairs, and Travis was sitting on the kitchen table. He looked like he had just been running, which confused me.

"Did Eliot go home?" I asked, and Travis snapped out of his daze.

"What? Oh. Oh yeah! He did." He responded, and I tilted my head.

I looked outside, and watched Eliot walk down the path, but not before winking at two girls that were carrying their laundry. They blushed and giggled before continuing their walk.

I sighed and turned around.

Travis wasn't at the table, but I heard our bedroom door shut, signifying that he had just walked inside.

I sighed before looking at the kitchen table.

After ten minutes, the dishes were sitting out and drying from the wash, and the table itself was wiped down and practically sparkling.

Go me!

I walked upstairs as I popped my back and walked into the room.

Travis was sitting on the chair in the corner and looking out the window.

When I sat down on the bed, he snapped his head to look at me.

"Your letters came in today." He said and pointed to my nightstand.

"Oh!" I exclaimed as I leapt onto my bad and started looking at them.

On the back of the first envelope was my name written in beautiful calligraphy. I smiled, knowing that this was definitely Pearl.

The other was chipped at some parts and my name was clearly done in a rush. Obviously Naomi.

I opened Pearls first, and rolled my eyes at the very formal introduction.

Dearest (Y/N) Valcrum,

It is my pleasure to have the privilege of writing to you once again. Thank you for last months note. My days shone brighter once I read it. Recently, Nichole and I have taken a trip to the near town of Leliohart. It was filled with many colorful types of people, and they wore beautiful necklaces made of flowers, to which they called leis. The drink the juice from a hairy fruit that they call, a 'hopfruit', and have the largest of bonfires to which they dance with drums during their nightly feast. It's truly wonderful to see and learn about these different cultures. Thank you once again for your valiant battle that decided my freedom. My debt to you remains unpaid, but I will one day return the favor. I swear on my life. Nichole wishes for me to include her saying 'Hello!'. She wishes you the brightest of futures, as do I. Until we write again.
- Sincerely, Pearl Halloway

I smiled at how formal she was, as if she was a guard who was talking to her lord. I folded her note and opened my drawer before gingerly placing it on the stack of her other letters that was tucked in the corner.

I closed it and grabbed Naomi's letter before opening it and starting to read what occurred for her this month.

Hey (Y/N)! How are you and Travis~

My face reddened at this question, but I continued to read.

I hope y'all are good! I'm doing awesome! My boyfriend and I had a picnic by that river I told you about, the one with the fake ghost lady, and he was sooooooooo-

Yes, she added that many 'o's.

-cute! He talked about how pretty I was and how he loved me with all of his heart, and other cheesy stuff like that, but it was so romantic! Then we had Loriella again, and this time, we had dancers come in, but out of no where, a girl with reddish-pink hair and pink eyes jumped on stage and took the show away! Her outfit was so pretty, and no one really knew what dance she was doing, but it was so pretty! Not only that, but the cutest little boy was cheering her on, and he had cool blue hair that was in a braid and went to his ankles! (A/N: if any of you get this reference I will forever love you, no joke) After the ceremony, the food was so good! It was chicken and cheese and cake and fruit and we did have veggies but I made sure to stay very far away from them! Don't worry (Y/N), I still hate vegetables, no need to worry!

I chuckled at her childish attitude before continuing to read.

Then a couple little girls taught me how to make flower crowns, and I made one with some daisies! I tried to draw a picture, but it was poop ;). Anyways, I'm getting off topic. Oh! The trees blossomed a couple days ago, and a few of the blossoms are already falling and flying around! It's so pretty!!!!! Well, this is really long! I think I should stop. I'll write to you later (Y/N)! Byyyyyyyeeeeee~<3
- Naomi P.S. I hope you got my necklace!

I smiled remembering the necklace she shipped to me. I had gotten it a few days ago, and it was a gold chain with a (F/C) gem charm in the middle.

I opened the drawer again and put the note on Naomi's stack before shutting it for the night.

I turned over, and my eyes widened as I saw Travis looking at me with a faint smile on his face.

"Uh..." I trailed off as we just stared at each other, not breaking eye contact.

"I didn't know you could sing." He said after what felt like an eternity of deafening silence.

A laugh tickled the back of my throat, and I tried to keep it from coming out, but to no avail.

"I can't sing." I said between laughs. When I reopened my eyes, he was frowning.

"I heard you with Clarissa, don't act like you can't. I heard it, and it was angelic." He said as he shut his eyes. I sighed before looking at my hands, which were in my lap.

I lifted my left hand and started to twirl the wedding ring on my finger, it's clear diamond surface glimmering against the lamp's light.

"Wait, is that why you looked tired? You ran downstairs after eavesdropping on me?" I asked as I folded my arms.

I heard him chuckle and he opened one eye. "Guilty as charged." He mumbled as he gently grabbed my hand before kissing the back of it, making me blush.

"How'd you stay so cute after all these years?" He asked as he propped the top half of his body up with his elbow, making it so he could face me.

My face got redder as I started fumbling with my ring even more, trying to no pay attention so my nose wouldn't start bleeding.

But he put his hand on my own, and I whipped around to look at him, only to meet his lips with my own.

I froze up at first, but I melted into it after a minute.

He only gripped my hand and put his other hand on the back of my neck, pulling me closer to him.

I didn't separate as I slithered a hand out of his grip and turned the dial down on the oil lamp.

"I love you." He mumbled against my lips.

"Really? I had no idea." I sarcastically said. He laughed and kissed me again. I ran my fingers through his snow white hair, wanting to savor this moment with every part of my body.

When we separated, we leaned on each other's foreheads and I smiled.

"I love you too."
