Big Time Sparks

Yeah, I'm about to give you my heart,
So remember this one thing,
I've never been in love before,
Yeah you gotta go easy on me

Persephone sat next to Gustavo helping produce Jordin Sparks' next big hit. Unlike Gustavo, Persephone had never met Jordin before and was over the moon to finally get introduced. Little did she know the feeling was mutual until after Jordin told her how much a fan she was of her music. It physically hurt Persephone to contain all of the emotions she was feeling, but once they got past the shock of meeting each other, it was time to record the song Persephone had prepared.

Once Jordin was finished, Persephone couldn't stop smiling at the fact that Jordin Sparks just sang a song that she wrote. She just couldn't help but feel something was missing. Persephone was wracking through her brain trying to figure out what it was, but almost had a heart attack when she heard loud cheers coming from behind her out of the blue.

"Good job!"
"Amazing!"
"Best song ever!"
"So good!"

"Really? Because I'm not sure I'm feeling it yet." Jordin spoke honestly, and if Persephone was being honest, she was kind of happy they shared the same thought.

"I'm not feeling it either."
"Needs a little work."

Persephone turned to face the guys and glared at the last comment making them shut up immediately.

Gustavo stood up, trying to ignore the boys, "Jordin, Jordin. Don't worry about the song, ok? Just take a little more time with it, and give us some time to fill in the chorus and add some layers. This song is gonna be a big hit. It's gonna be great." He shot her a bug thumbs up before turning towards James, Logan, Carlos, and Kendall, "Dogs, I got a big present for you in my office.

Being the childish idiots that they were, all four boys bolted in the direction of Gustavo's office, wasting no time at all. They were faced with Freight Train and consumed with a bone crushing hug. Gustavo and Persephone followed close behind.

"Freight Train's squashing us."
"This is our big present?"

"Yes, because I want you nowhere near Jordin Sparks." Gustavo spoke loud and clear.

Freight Train let the four boys go, "What? Why?" Carlos couldn't help but ask.

"Because you're bad luck and destroy everything you touch." Their boss stated as if it were obvious.

"What? That is so not true." Persephone looked at him with an unamused look, not buying it because she knew them to well, as Logan leaned back on the desk causing everything to fall off it onto the floor. After watching everything crash to the floor, Logan put his hands up in defense, "Sorry."

"Jordin and her team picked me and Persephone to write and produce her new song over every song writer and producer in this town. And word on the street is, Gustavo Rocque is back! Now, Jordin is staying at the Palm Woods which means, if she is by the pool, I want 'Bad Luck Rush' to BE IN THE LOBBY!" Gustavo got in their faces, screaming at full volume

"What about Persephone?" The guys asked after wiping spit off their faces.

"I'll be wherever Jordin is making sure that when you do inevitably disobey Gustavo's orders, you don't become complete dangers to society." Persephone had her arms crossed sending them a sickeningly sweet smile. This was going to be a long few days.

After a while of sitting with Jordin, making sure the guys weren't endangering her life, Persephone excused herself to answer an incoming facetime call from her friend from the Ducks: Charlie.

"Hey, Seph. I was beginning to think you forgot about us again." Her friend spoke with a cute smirk on his face.

"Forget you?" Persephone put a hand to her heart, pretending to look hurt, "I could never." Charlie laughed  and moved around a bit, "What're you up to?"

"Actually, we just wanted to check in." He sat the phone down, putting all the Ducks into frame.

Persephone smiled wide her face could have fallen off, "Hey, Ducks! To what do I owe the please of getting to talk to you all together?"

"Well, a friend is in town and we thought you'd wanna say hi." Filton leaned forward to make sure Persephone could hear him.

The girl's face contorted in confusion. Then she saw her father take a seat by Charlie, "Hi, Poppy." Poppy: a nickname given to Persephone by her father during her Wizard of Oz obsession as a kid.

"Dad! Why aren't you at work?" Persephone hadn't talked to her dad in so long, she couldn't believe it.

"Good to see you too, kiddo." Her dad, Gordon's, tone dripped with sarcasm.

Persephone's smile on bigger, "You know what I mean."

"I got some time off and thought I'd come see the Ducks play a little... I also thought it might be an excuse to get you to come and visit."

Persephone couldn't lie, she thought about moving back to Minnesota to be with her team multiple times. She's considered what it'd be like to be able to live a normal life, playing hockey with her friends. Her family. Persephone couldn't find a good reason to stay in LA until a certain group of four boys came to town, and she found her reason to stick around. But now the boys were starting to grow on their own as a band and the thought of leaving crossed her mind once again.

"Maybe. You know how busy I am here, Dad."

"I know, but we miss you. I miss you."

"He's right."
"We really miss you."
"If you don't come see us, I swear I'll hunt you down and tie you to the goalpost."

Persephone smiled and almost gave an answer when in the corner of her eye she saw Jo storming off and Kendall embracing Jordin, "Hey, I gotta go. I'll talk to you guys later. Love you."

"We love you."
"Love you too."

Persephone hung up and ran to Kendall who was now standing alone, "What was that?"

"Long story. Who was that?" Kendall glanced at her phone.

"The Ducks and my dad. They're wondering when I'm gonna go back."

"To Minnesota?"

Persephone nodded "Mhm."

"Like, for good, or to visit?" Anyone would be able to tell Kendall was joking, but it wasn't a joke anymore when he saw Persephone's expression, "You're thinking of moving back?!"

"Shh! Yes, the thought has crossed my mind.... a lot. But like I said, it's just a thought. Don't worry. I have to go find Jordin. Maybe you should find Jo." Persephone suggested, now on a mission to find Jordin before one of the other guys did.

Some mamas and daddies
Are lovin in a straight line,
Take forever to heart
And take a long, sweet ride,
But some mammas and daddies let their heart strings tear and tangle,
And some of us get stuck
In a love triangle

After sitting with Jordin, writing some new lyrics for a few new songs, Persephone said she'd go get them both some water. When she walk back to the pool, holding two water bottles, humming the tune she had in mind for the song she worked on last, the song about her parents' divorce, she wasn't expecting to see Kendall and Jordin sitting at a cute, girly table Kendall had set up.

Persephone walked up to them, "You know you have a girlfriend, right?" She asked the boy playfully as she handed Jordin her water. Of course, she was kidding around, but there was a part of her wondering if he somehow forgot his girlfriend lived in the same place they did.

Not so surprisingly Jo walked up to the table seeing her boyfriend with Jordin Sparks once again, "Oh, so now you're having a girly, romantic lunch with Jordin."

"No, no. It's not what it looks like." Kendall tried to explain, but Jo just  shot him a dirty look and walked away.

"Well I could've called that one." Persephone laughed to herself before stopping abruptly when she saw the look she was getting from Kendall, "...too soon?"

Ten minutes later Jordin and Persephone stood together at the Palm Woods wishing well, hoping it'd bring some luck in before Jordin had to record her song, "Ok wishing well. I'm recording a new song today, and I need some good luck."  They heard some commotion coming from behind them but ignored it as Jording kissed the penny and dropped it into the well. Persephone smiled and put her arm around Jordin's waist, looking at the bottom of the well where the penny now was. Jordin wrapped her arm around Persephone's shoulder, closing her eyes for a minute, saying a silent prayer.

Not a minute later, Persephone felt something hit the arm that was wrapped around her, sending both her and Jordin to the bottom of the well. So much for good luck.

********************************

When the two girls stood and brushed themselves off, coughing due to some dirt that flew up when they hit the ground, Jordin felt something hit her head, "Ow!"

"Guys! Is that you?" Persephone had a feeling her friends were behind the whole thing.

"Uh..." Kendall stepped forward, looking down at the Jordin and Persephone, "Don't worry, Jordin. Percy. But you can count on us... how ya doin'? Ya good?"

"We're in a well!" The two girls shouted at the same time.

"Right." And then Jordin and Persephone saw Kendall back away, out of their view. Persephone sighed and sat on the ground, resting her head against the brick interior. If their well being depended on the four idiots that got them into this mess, then they were surely doomed.

"Guys, don't worry. We have a plan." They saw Carlos looking down at them before quickly backing away just as Kendall had done moments before. Jordin and Persephone looked at each other before rolling their eyes, trying to focus and stay calm.

********************************

Turns out, staying calm was easier said than done, especially for Jordin. And especially when the boyband of four joined the two girls at the bottom of the well. The guys were telling Jordan how bad they felt about ruining her chance at recording her new song, "It's ok. I couldn't figure out the song anyway." Jordan glared at the song pages at all six of them sat on the ground.

"I don't think the song was that bad. How'd it go again?" James questioned as he picked up an extra copy of the song that Jordin held in her hands.

"Oh, yeah, its:

One, two, three, four, to the five"

Persephone sang how it was supposed to sound for them.

"Oh, and add some layers. Try it again?" Logan looked on the sheet of music that James held as he spoke to Persephone.

One, two, three, four, to the five

"And harmonies!" Kendall and Carlos added.

One, two, three four, to the five,
Baby I'm counting on you,
One, two, three, four, to the five,
Baby I'm counting on you

As Persephone and the guys kept singing, Jordin sat silently, smiling at the group of five. When they finished they all cheered and high fives each other, "You guys just helped me figure out the song. And it's not meant for me to sing. It's for you guys." Jording looked at Persephone, "It's an amazing song, but I can't do it justice the way you and the guys can. You wrote it, and it's meant to be sung by you. Not me."

"Really?" Persephone was shocked at what she was hearing.

"Really." Jordin smiled and nodded.

"Well, in that case, I think we know a guy who can help us out of our.... situation." Persephone glared at the guys and they all huddled next to each other on the opposite side of the well, trying to get as far away from the girl as possible.

********************************

Now I'm about to give you my heart,
But  remember this one thing,
I've never been in love before,
So you gotta go easy on me

Later that day, Persephone stood in between James and Kendall in the recording studio, staring at Jordin, Kelly, and Gustavo who were sitting on the other side of the glass smiling at the way things played out.

I heard, love is dangerous,
Once you fall you never get enough,
And the thought of you leaving,
Ain't so easy for me

Kendall sang while looking maintaining eye contact with Persephone the whole time. She knew the lyrics had deeper meaning, especially since he figured out she was thinking about moving back to Minnesota. As it came time for Persephone to sing again, she quickly snapped herself out of her trance and looked away. After all, the boy to her left had a girlfriend, and his girlfriend was also her best friend. So instead, Persephone turned to look at James, leaving Kendall with a saddened express playing on his features.

Don't hurt me,
Desert me,
Make me sorry I ever counted on you,
One, two, three, four, to the five,
Baby I'm counting on you,
One, two, three, four, to the five,
Baby I'm counting on you

Persephone looked forward after glancing at the two boys on either side of her, thinking about how she should have opted to stay in the well.
