Big Time Concert: Part I

A couple days after the whole video fiasco, Persephone sent a text to Kendall telling the guys to meet her at the studio. She waited in Gustavo's office with Gustavo and Kelly, waiting for the bad to get there. The four ran into the office at full speed, "Well?"

Persephone walked out from behind the desk to stand in front of them with her hands behind her back. She smiled and showed them the CD she was hiding behind her back. They grabbed it from her, yelling in excitement as Kelly and Gustavo took out a whole box of them from behind his desk. Kendall wrapped his arms around Persephone's waist for a hug, lifting her off the ground slightly with his face burried in her neck.

"And people can buy these? In stores?" Kendall asked Persephone.

"Not yet. The record company won't release it until we announce your big time..... tour!"

"What?!"

"We're going on tour?!" James couldn't hold in his excitement.

Persephone laughed once she was set back on the ground, "And your first concert is in two weeks."

And with that, the boys stared looked off in the distance at nothing in particular, probably daydreaming about their tour.

Within seconds they put their fists in front of their mouths like they're holding mics, and start dancing around like idiots.

"Should I tell them that preparing for a concert will be the hardest thing they've ever done?...... and that it's not in Times Square?"

Persephone crossed her arms while still looking at the guys, "Don't you dare."

"Fine. I'll give them another two minutes. Then I'll burst their bubble."

Persephone rolled her eyes at Gustavo and smirked at her friends. She didn't notice, but her gaze was mostly focused on Kendall. He looked like an idiot in the best, most adorable way possible. Once Persephone realized she was staring she looked away at anything else she could focus on.

What was going on with her?

********************************

After the guys were done with their imaginary concert, it was time to start preparing for their real one. Persephone stood with Gustavo and Kelly on a rehersal stage they prepared for the guys to practice on, "The concert stage, where you will need intense focus-"

"Incredible stamina, and-"

Kelly and Gustavo stepped to the side and revealed Mr. X who stood in between them, "Expert knowledge of every inch."

"Why are we wearing dog cones?" Kendall asked from the space in front of the stage where all four band members wore dog cones around their necks and heads.

"When you're performing, you have to look up at your fans, not at your feet. And trust me, it's not as easy as it sounds." Persephone explained.

Mr. X jumped off the stage and landed right in front of the guys, "And to avoid X-treme injury, you have to know without thinking, and see without looking... FLIPPY FLIP!"

********************************

"What if we have an itch?" Logan questioned as the guys stood on stage with Gustavo, Kelly, Mr. X, and Persephone standing in front of them on the floor.

"Don't!" Gustavo urged.

"Places!" Mr. X demanded, "Focus. Begin." He hit play on the boom box. Immediately the guys crashed into instruments and each other.

Persephone winced as Mr. X spoke, "They actually lasted longer than I expected. Again!"

********************************

After hours of playing poker and watching the guys fail, Gustavo thought it was time for the next phase of operation BTR, "And lastly, the spotlight test." He brought out a huge, circular light and turned it on, pointing it directly at the guys causing them all to scream and fall off the stage.

The guys were all groaning and wailing, "I will X-Pedaite their training and have them X-Ready." Mr. X promised.

"Great," Gustavo seemed convinced, "Now let's move on to the hard part of your training.

"Sounds great."
"Let's do it."
"Run!"

Carlos, Logan, James and Kendall all took off running out the studio doors. Persephone rolled her eyes, "I'll get them." She followed their tracks(the dog cones they had thrown onto a nearby chair) into a supply closet and knocked on the door, "Guys, it's Percy, not Gustavo." After no response she tried again,"Listen, in two weeks you have the biggest game of your lives. You have to train your butts off for it, or you could lose. No matter how rough the first period was, you have to get back on the ice." Persephone waited for a minute before the door opened slightly. She stepped into the supply closet and closed the door behind her to see her four best friends standing in a line in front of her, "So, what do you say?"

"We say...you're getting too good at pep-talks." Kendall noted.

Persephone smiled, "I learned from the best." Kendall smiled back at her, the other three guys watching them with suspicion in their eyes.

Their moment was ruined when Freight Train kicked the door off its hinges. Persephone screamed with the guys as she jumped into Kendall's arms. They relaxed when they saw who it was, but Kendall kept his arm draped around the girl's shoulders anyway.

"Hey, Gustavo wants-"

"We're coming, we're coming."

"Oh. Well, you guys want a ride back to the stage?" Freight Train asked.

"I'll take one." Without hesitation, Carlos jumped into the man's arms and smiled brightly. The rest of the group laughed and playfully rolled their eyes. Persephone wrapped the arm closet to Kendall around his waist, and her other arm around James' shoulders as they all made their way back to Gustavo, Kelly, and now, Freight Train.

********************************

"Ok, time for fan preparedness training with the top two teen idols, Persephone Fox," Gustavo gestured to the girl standing next to him who gave a smile of encouragement to her friends, "And Dak Zevon."

When Dak stepped into the room and gave Persephone a hug, Kendall felt a little intimidated. Not just because Dak knew what he was doing and he didn't, but because Kendall knew Dak and Persephone were close, and something about it didn't sit right with him.

After releasing from the hug, Dak and Persephone took a step closer to the guys who were on stage. Dak held a long pointer and a white board next to him. "Guys, fans are your friends. But they can also be frenzied. Which is why lesson one of the Fox-Zevon method is: Proper, Fan, Interaction." He pointed to the acronym written on the white board, "Or, P'FI." Dak nodded at Persephone, and she blew the whistle that hung around her neck as fangirls and fanboys flooded the studio. Persephone and Dak now stood on stage with the band.

"Ok, now, observe carefully. We're gonna demonstrate the mosh pit hand slap." Dak said. Both stars highfived the people in front of them without being pulled into the crowd.

"Alright, James. Your turn." Persephone patted her friend shoulder. James lasted for all of 2 seconds before he got pulled into the mosh pit of fans. Persephone winced, "That was a good attempt. We'll find him later. Now, you guys try. And don't forget to slap their hands quickly." Persephone and Dak stepped to the side to let the other three attempt it. Persephone blew her whistle when the guys completed their task, "Nice work guys." She high fived each of them.

The crowd tossed James back up on stage. He shuffled around a little before grimacing, "My underwear is gone."

"...yeah, ok. Now, security guards will protect you from 99% of the crowd. But, 1% of your fan base will be insane and get to you." Persephone was interrupted when a girl jumped onto Kendall's back.

Kendall ran back and forth across the stage a few times in attempt to get the girl off his back, "Ok." Persephone pried the girl off her friend's back and tossed her back into the mosh pit, "What you should've done, was duck. Oh, and uh, your feet are too close to the edge." The fans grabbed onto three of the four band members' legs and pulled them into the crowd. Persephone and Dak looked at each other, sighing before looking into the sea of fans, trying to fund the guys.

********************************

Gustavo, Kelly, Freight Train, Dak, and Persephone now stood in the hallway in front of the band who were bruised and in casts, "Boys, I'm proud of you. This concert is gonna take BTR to the next level. And you have your first dress rehersal in three days."

"And we want you to invite all your friends at the Palm Woods so you can practice your stage swagger." Kelly held up a bunch of VIP passes.

"Which I will be hanging onto so you idiots don't lose them." Persephone smiled at the guys while taking the passes into her hands.

"So, you're gonna drive us back to the Palm Woods, right?"

"No." Mr. X popped out from out of nowhere, "A concert can last two hours, and you'll need more endurance than a marathon runner carrying a cow.

"Which is why you'll be running back to the Palm Woods carrying these microphones." Dak and Persephone held up four in total and tossed them to the band.

Gustavo whipped out a megaphone and aimed it at the guys, "Move, move, move it!"

"Ah ah ah-ah oohhh."

********************************

"Are you guys gonna make it the next two weeks to your concert?"

"They'll be be fine. They're just being dramatic." Persephone whispered to Camille as they stood in front of the guys who were seated on a couch by the pool.

The band poured the water the now held in their hands on their faces and bodies.

"Yep. And it's gonna rock!" Kendall explained sounding confident.

"And you and all the Palm Woods are invited to our dress reheral." Logan told Camille as Persephone took out all the passed she was given to hand out at the Palm Woods.

"Cool. We're VIPs."

"Someday I'll be able to say I worked with them." Persephone wiped a fake tear from under her eye.

"Hey, someday is today." James said, standing up from his seat, "I have dreamed about this for so long. And it's finally gonna happen."

Soon enough, the same girl from earlier jumped on James' back screaming "I love you!" in his ear.

"Don't worry about that." Carlos told Camille noticing her look of concern, "It's part of our training."

********************************

Soon enough Persephone stood with Camille and Jo at Big Time Rush's dress rehersal.

We've all had times,
Times we wonder,
Will the spotlight shine on me,
And don't let the waves go and pull is under,
I'll kiss the opportunity,
Don't look down or look back,
It's not that far to go,
Cause if we never try,
Then we will never really know,
Someday, it'll come together,
Someday, we will work it out
I know, we can turn it up all the way,
Cause this is our someday

Kendall found Persephone in the crowd and smiled when he saw a the poster she held up that said 'I ❤ Kendall'. She laughed and he bent down to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her hair, winking before he stood up. Perspehone froze for a minute when Jo and Camille turned to her with huge smiles on their faces, suggestively nudging the girl's shoulder. Persephone came to her senses and rolled her eyes playfully, nudging them both back before they all turned back the bad, singing along with every word in the song.

'Cause this is our someday

The guys all ended in a finishing pose as the audience went wild

"Bravo. Bravo!" Griffin said, taking a step closer to the stage, "Watching you boys go from nobodies to somebodies has been more thrilling than hunting humans." Everybody looked at him with question in their eyes, "Which is why it hurts me to say, the album, the tour, and this concert...are canceled."

"What?!" Kelly and Gustavo yelled.

Followed by Persephone who pushed her way through the crowd to stand in front of her boss, "What?!"

Then the band, "What?!"

And the fans, "What?!"

Next Camille and Jo, "What?!"

Then finally Kaite who was rolling out her boxes of merchandise, "What?!"

"What?!" Griffin yelled just for fun before he turned to Gustavo and Kelly, "I mean yeah. Big Time Rush and Persephone Fox are dead." Persephones jaw dropped as she looked back at her friends who were in the exact same state of shock that she was.

********************************

"What do you mean we're dead?!"  Big Time Rush and Persephone yelled together.

"Accounting has just released their risk and feasibility report on Big Time Rush. They've decided it's too risky and not feasible."

"So we're shifting our strategy to children's books on tape. No tour support is required. They have a higher profit margin and are super cheap to make." Explained one of the marketing woman

"Which is why tomorrow Gustavo will be producing 'Can You Foo' as ready by actor-environmentalist Ed Begley Jr."

"But Griffin, this is our Someday." James tried to argue.

"Close. It's your last day. Sorry, I like you. But as we say in business: That's business."

"You can't do this! I've been working my butt of for years to get where I am today. The guys have proven to you multiple times that they deserve to be here. Their concert is in one week!" Persephone couldn't believe that Griffin would fire her and the guys when their careers were doing just fine.

"That's why I'm giving all of you..." Their faces started to light up with hope, "Fruit baskets." Everyone's expressions of hope deflated as quick as they appeared.

Kendall and Persephone looked at each other before looking at the ground. They couldn't help but wonder what this would mean for them.

********************************

After Persephone said goodbye to Jo and Camille, she went to her apartment and started packing her things. She thought long and hard about what moving back to Minnesota would realistically be like, and she couldn't lie, it didn't sound all that bad. She'd be with her dad and her team. She'd still be just minutes away from the guys. To Persephone, it sounded like a win. Except for the part where she wouldn't be able to make music anymore with Kelly and Gustavo. But at this point, she couldn't focus on one negative when it was outweighed by positives. Especially when there was nothing she could do.

Persephone heard a knock on her door. She opened it to see Kendall standing there with a duffel bag hanging over his shoulder, "The moving vans are here."

"Right. Ok. You can come in. I'm just gonna grab my suitcase."

Kendall stepped inside and looked around at the apartment now full of boxes. He felt terrible that Persephone would have to give up her dream after years of hard work and dedication.

"Ready?" Kendall looked around to see Persephone wheeling a suitcase behind her that had the logo of her team along with a C for captain.

"Yeah, let's-" Before he continued, he thought about how he had to get something off his chest before they left the Palm Woods for good, "Actually, I have to tell you something."

Persephone shrugged, "Ok."

"I just wanted to say that moving here, starting a band, getting to know you, were the best weeks of my life. And if I don't say this now, I don't know when I'll get the chance again... I didn't break things off with Jo because of the Jordin thing. I broke things off with Jo because I like someone else. She's been here for me since the beginning of this insane journey, and she hasn't given up on me, or the band, even when we put ourselves in stupid situations. She's beautiful, sure, but her personality is unlike anyone I've ever met. She likes hockey and music. She's really special, and I'm worried that when we leave, things are gonna change." Kendall stepped closer to Persephone who was hanging onto every word that was coming out of Kendall's mouth, "Persephone, I-"

The two were interrupted by the rest of the guys who barged into the apartment.

"...are we interrupting something?"
