Don't

Colin

It had been a sort of strained couple of weeks between them.

Ever since the party they had been a little cold towards one another; barely talking unless it was something important. Tension was real and he guessed after a while everyone started to notice.

"Alright what's going on with you two?" His mother spoke up as they sat in the livingroom one night after Sunday dinner. He was sat on the couch and Morgan was curled up into a chair on the other side of the room.

"Nothing."

"I can't tell. This is the quietest I've ever seen you two when it came to eachother."

He didn't really want to air out their real problems in front of the whole family. He didn't like that.

"Football stress and Knox has been a little restless lately. Nothing to worry about."

"And your excuse?" They all looked to Morgan and shrugged.

"I'm a little sick, just not feeling too hot lately." She ran a hand through her hair as she avoided his eyes.

"Alright." They decided not to push it further and for that he was grateful. They all watched TV together then his mother suggested they eat cake. Though she forgot the ice cream and Morgan was the first to suggest she'd go get it. Before anyone could offer to go with her she was already putting on her shoes and leaving out. She came back a few minutes later and then excused herself again.

Later on he was going to the bathroom when he ran into her again. She was fixing her sweatshirt and breathing a bit heavy.

He stopped her.

"Are you okay? You look a little pale." She looked up at him, nodding.

"I'm okay."

"I know we haven't been speaking but that doesn't mean that you can't tell me what's wrong."

"Just a little nauseous." He nods.

"Just tell me when you're ready to go home okay?"

"Yeah." She pats his chest.

***********
-the next morning-

His phone buzzes and he answers it, hearing Morgan mumble into the receiver.

"Could you come upstairs please?"

"Yeah sure I'll be right there."

They hang up and he makes his way upstairs to their room. She's sat on the chair in the far corner waiting for him. He sits on the footrest in front of her. She looks deep in thought and still a bit sick.

"What's wrong?" She sat normal so their knees were brushing slightly.

"I'm pregnant."

"You are?"

"Yes."

"What...what do you want to do?"

"What do you mean?"

"A couple of weeks ago you didn't even want a baby. Now..." she sighed, leaning forward to put her head on his shoulder; her hands braced on his thighs.

"This, is our baby. I want this baby. A couple of weeks ago when you brought it up, it took me off guard. I didn't think that another baby should come along when I felt like I was a bad mother to the first."

"You think you're a bad mother?" He asked incredulously.

"You brought up some points that I've been trying to avoid for the past few months. All of this just brought it into perspective for me. I didn't want two kids to hate me."

"Knox doesn't hate you, you're his favorite person in the world. The things I said, I was just frustrated. You're not a bad mother Morgan, far from it. You take care of him, you play with him, you teach him things...what two year old kid do you know that cares about psychology?" She laughed a little.

"None."

"Exactly. You've never been a bad mother, you two are too attached for that to ever happen. And the new baby...will love you just as much as Knox does." He reached a hand up to rub the back of her neck.

She sat up slightly to kiss him for the first time in weeks before pulling away.

"When did you find out?"

"Yesterday I got a pregnancy test when I was out getting ice cream." He smiled.

"So you're having another baby hm?"

"Apparently...that's what they tell me anyway." She smirked. The door creaked open and Knox peered around it.

"You're up early." They pulled away from eachother as Knox walked in fully, running over to jump on Morgan. She giggled and sat him up straight, him cuddling to her chest a bit.

"Careful with mommy."

"What's wrong? You sick mommy?" He peered up at her curiously.

"Well, mommy is going to have another baby."

"Really? Where?"

"In her stomach, it has to grow big first then it'll come out." His eyes widened and he turned, touching his hand to her stomach.

"It's okay mommy. I won't hurt baby." He crawled over into his lap and smiled at her. "Okay?"

"Yes, it's okay."
