James, Marlene, Remus, Peter, Alice, Mary, Sirius, and the other first years walked into the great hall behind Professor McGonagall. Professor McGonagall had all of them come up one at a time to be sorted by the hat. All of them were placed into Gryffindor happily, Marlene sat across from James after Marlene was sorted, a girl named Lily Evans sat next to James, and James introduced himself . "Hi I am James" James said reaching his hand out to shake hers. "Hi I am Lily Evans" Lily said taking James hand and shaking it. "This is Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Alice Fortescue, Mary Macdonald, and Marlene McKinnon" James said pointing at the kid he was naming. "Well nice to meet you all" Lily said smiling at us. "Nice to meet you" they all said smiling at Lily.

  After the great meal one of the prefix took them up to the Gryffindor common room. Up in the common room, Alice and Lily went to bed right away, Marlene spent my time playing chest with Lupin. Sirius and James just whispered to each other and laughed on the couch. While Peter read a book in peace. "I need some sleep Remus, I am sorry I could not play more rounds with you" Marlene said frowning at Remus. "No it is fine I am finding it more boring along the way but I had fun listening to your remarks" Remus said leaning back into the chair laughing. "Shut it, it is not funny" Marlene said trying not to laugh to. Marlene got up and walked behind the couch and taped James on the shoulder. "I am going to go to bed" Marlene told James with her eyes wide open, James rolled his eyes at Marlene, Sirius just looked at Marlene. "Fine I will go to bed" James said as he got up and left. "Good night" Marlene said now talking to Remus and Sirius. "Good night McKinnon" Sirius said getting up and also leaving with Remus following.

About a month later James insisted that Marlene help James get with her new friend Lily Evans. "James you're just a first year I don't expect you to get a date till you are at least a fourth" Marlene huffed. "Yes Marlene that is the great thing if we work together now then when it comes to be that time I can date Evans" James said walking backwards so Marlene could see his face, and also with his eyebrows raised. "See that would be smart maybe for a boy who is witty and charming" Marlene said shaking her finger at James with a big smile on her face. "Marlene Grace McKinnon are you saying I am not charming because I know for a fact I am witty" James said with a shocked face as Marlene shook her head yes. "I am not helping you James whatever you say will not make me help you" Marlene said with a stern voice and with her eyebrows raised. "But why" James fussed as he turned around and walked side by side with Marlene.

Later in the first year girls dorm room Marlene talked about how James would not stop bother her about Lily. "Lily you know James likes you right" Marlene said walking out of the bathroom. "Yes he talks way to much to me and also he tells me about it ever single day Mar" Lily said as she laid on her bed reading a book. "Ya well now he is trying to get me to help him get with you and you two are only bloody first years" Marlene huffed and looked at Lily as she walked up to the record player. "Ya I am not going to date a soul till I am at lest sixteen" Lily went on to say. "Is it fine if I play some Queen" Marlene asked as she picked up a record. "Go ahead I love their music" Lily said with a big smile on her face, as Marlene started to play the music.

"Why do the girls play there music so loud" Remus complained. "Because it is good music" Sirius said as he plopped down on his bed. "I do have to agree with Sirius" James went to say. "Well it is not fun to hear when you are reading a book" Remus whined. "Well then stop reading and talk to us" Peter said in muffled voice. "Fine" Remus said. "Marlene said she would not help me get with Evans" James said in disappointment as he sat on his bed. "Why" Sirius said shrugging and his eyes squinting. "Because we are first year, like that should not hold us back from being madly in love" James said huffing. "She has a point" Remus said with his legs crossed at the edge of his bed resting he head on his hand. "Shut it" the three other boys said looking over at Remus. "Sucks to be you" Peter said. "No sucks to be you, you can't even talk to the girls you like" Sirius said teasing Peter. "Hey it is not my fault that they are pretty" Peter said as he looked down at his legs, and Sirius and James slapped there hands to there heads. "At least I am not like Remus who does not even try" Peter said in a mocking voice. "Hey that is not fair, I rather not try than be turned down like James" Remus said with his eyes all wide and his hand gesturing towards James. "Hey that is not fair I can't put it on Sirius because he can flirt with girls when he want to and they flirt back" James fussed as he crossed his arms and fell back in his bed. "Sorry mate I am way to charming compared to you" Sirius said as he got up and patted James on the shoulder and walked into the bathroom.

  Later in the common room Sirius asked Marlene to help James. "Hey Marlene I am happy I found you" Sirius said taping Marlene on the shoulder, she was sitting on the couch all by herself in the empty common room. "Why may I ask" Marlene said turning around on the couch and sitting on her knees. "Because you need to help James" Sirius said nervously looking down at Marlene. "I already told him no, and also I plan not to lose my new friend" Marlene huffed at Sirius. "Alright then I won't force it upon you" Sirius said with his eyebrows scrunched up.

  "James she said no" Sirius said as he opened the door and closed it. "Dang it" James said as he put his hand to his head. "But when did Marlene get so cute" Sirius said with a smirk on his face as he plopped down on his bed. "Hey she is basically my sister" James shouted at Sirius. "Calm down I am just telling you facts" Sirius said with his eyebrows raised. "Fine you can talk about her that way, and dater her, if you both want to may I add, if you help me get with Evans" James said looking at Sirius with his eyebrows raised. "Deal but I don't know how I am going to help you" Sirius said as he laid his head down on his pillow and fell asleep. With the rest following slowly.
